Epic Day Scrapbooking Layout - Clean & Simple

I loved designing up this one - inspired by a lovely layout in Pinterest done in other brands and colours. This one was quick to put together, but so effective in highlighting both the yummy designs in the new papers, Epic Day, and also the photo. ( of course)

I have really fallen in love with these papers - loving the bright fun colours mixed with a bit of vintage. I chose to cut off the vintage bits on this particular layout and go for a more clean look.

The Epic Day papers will be available in July, but you can get them as a Sneak Peek Promo in May! Just a few days left for that -

I also used the Cute Clips here, from the Seasonal Catalogue, and the Epic Day Washi Tape. I'm going to love using that Washi Tape all next catalogue year!!

The hearts are made with the Hearts Framelits set. I just positioned them here and there on the rectangles and then went around them with an Early Espresso Marker.

I have so fallen in love with this Doily Die since using it a few months ago on Delys's layout in red. Here we just have a fraction of it peeping out for a bit of a frame on the other side of the photo.

I think I just enjoy the "lightness" of it.

Fan Fair Altered Jar

Well this was a fun and quick project to copy . . I mean Make! LOL This was something Rachael Knight brought to one of our Extravaganzas, and I thought it was just lovely. A few months later I found these jars and whipped one of these up for myself. Cute lolly jar or for those bits of ribbon or even a jar for change (can't see through it so the kids won't see . . .)

I really do love the Fan Fair papers and love that it's both pinks and blues included, so great for scrapbooking projects as well.

And who doesn't love a cute doily? Hubby had fun poking all the little bits out for me (see on my facebook page what he did with them).

Thanks for the inspiration for the fun project!!

Thank you so much to one of my newest team members, Andrea Schweer, who sewed me up this cute little pencil bag! I told her I was going to use it for my money/change purse because the black Stampin' Up! one was forever getting lost in the depths of all my big bags. The bright colours will make it easy to find!

Very nice work, Andrea, getting that zip in so perfectly.

Now, rumour has it that all the fabrics are being deleted in the USA, so it's very likely we won't have them any longer in NZ, either. So please order them soon if you want them! Elements of Style in Soft Suede

This is a beautiful monochromatic card I did up a while ago; Love that Elements of Style stamp set. It was released just as the eclectic collage look was becoming popular - one of the first!

Just two colours for this project - Soft Suede and Very Vanilla. I love the Victoria Crochet ribbon, too, for that extra bit of lovely texture!

I've done some clear embossing with the flourish under the floral image, and then added pearls for some 3D.

Lattice Die Pop Up Card

This was a fun card inspired by several samples I found on the net - featuring the Lattice Die and the Butterfly Punch and the Bitty Butterfly Punch:

I used the Lattice Die on the front as a layer for a faux dry embossed look, but also embossed with the Polka Dot Embossing Folder on top.

The Bitty Butterflies are embossed with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder and the Butterfly is embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper Folder. A little Linen Thread and some pearls finish it off!

We used the lattice inside as well to make a simple pop up feature. Cute!! Add a few more butterflies and Mom will love it!

Fan Fair Siblings Layout - Just Add Ink #16

Just Add Ink Challenge #16 - Siblings

I chose the Fan Fair DSP here not only because I love the vintage feel, but because it has both pinks and blues in it - my intention was to do an awesome layout with all four of my children, three girls and my new boy.

However . . . I discovered unhappily I have zero pictures of the four of them that are suitable for a layout. Must remedy that! So I altered the plan and went for one showing the loving relationship between my three daughters.

First of all, I didn't have the right black paper for the upper right hand corner, so I did a quick buy of a black and white DSP pack on My Digital STudio and printed it out on vanilla cardstock! EAsy! And I could even adjust the pattern size to just what I wanted.

The ribbon roses have come out to play again - love those!_ and this time I dyed them with Rose Red and a bit of Early Espresso, just for fun.

And did you notice the Vintage Lace Trim? Now in More Mustard. Actually I just spritzed it with the ink refill and it turned out beautifully. Love that technique!

My Title was fun to do. I used our chipboard and the STampin' Up! alphabet dies to create a simple title. I used the Vintage Trinkets to create a little hanger for the heart (I found this idea off a neat page off Pinterest, which I didn't save so can't give proper credit).

I have felt the nudge for a little while now to include more journalling on my pages, so here we go. I included a hidden tag here with some personal thoughts for the girls. Hidden tags are the perfect way to add things you may not want the whole world to be able to see.

Tint Your Own Custom Paint - My New Chalkboard

Well, I know I keep saying it, but we are nearly there with the new craft room! I had my inaugural class in there last night, so we are functioning now. Just need a curtain for the laundry area, some chairs, a rug, and to paint the two new walls (little ones). Then I think that's IT!

On Sunday night, Rob painted me a chalkboard and built a frame to go around it. I have pics of him doing this on my Stamp Happy Facebook Page.

Well we had white paint, chartreuse paint, and the beige wall colour paint. of course, I wanted something else. Pool Party came to mind as quite nice.

It was Sunday night.

Sooooo, we got the white paint and played with the Stampin' Up! Ink Refills! Fun!! Mostly Pool Party, but also some Island Indigo and Always Artichoke were put in. It's still relatively pale, but it worked great!

I LOVE IT! I have the best husband ever!!! (Well, he's my personal favorite anyway!)

This was easy to do, if you want to do one as well. We just got some light mdf board and painted it with chalkboard paint (see pics on my business page on facebook), and then framed it.

Rain or Shine Gift Box for Mother's Day

Mother's Day will be here before we know it, so I thought this month I'd focus on feminine -themed projects. Some of my classes did a couple of beautiful cards for mother and some did this set of four cards to give to their mothers. Either gift would be enjoyed!

This project features the Rain or Shine stamp set 126777and the Pinwheel Die 129411:

The case for the four cards and envelopes has little pockets inside to hold the cards. So cute! The front cover uses the Sunshine & Sprinkles DSP 126922- a happy set of prints.

Two of the cards inside were inspired by a project we had at the last Auckland Extravaganza, designed by Rachael Knight and Sara Falconer and the other two I just made up once the ball got rolling.

These are made using the notecard and envelope sets 107311 - such a bargain at 20 notecards and 20 envelopes for only $11.95!

I loved using the Cloudy Day 127022 embossing folder with these ones! I dabbed just a bit of the Whisper White ink over the top to make the clouds stand out just a little bit more.

And if you didn't yet notice, I took these pics in my NEW craft room, which is still a work in progress, but I think another week or so and it will be all done. I need to get some chairs for one thing.

Sunshine and Sprinkles Box Card Featuring the Pinwheel Die

This card was fun to make and even more fun to teach! It's cool seeing people's faces light up when they realize how easy something so complex-looking can be.

I've used the very fun Pinwheel Die on this project for a fresh look and paired the bright colours in Sunshine and Sprinkles with black to really make them pop!

The belly band slides off and the card opens like a box - a fun surprise for the recipient!

I love using double sided papers for projects like this. Not only do you have double the selection, but isn't it a nice touch to have prints linside the project as well? Just like a designer lined jacket.

On the belly bank I used the new Wishes Your Way stamp set, which pairs up so nicely with the pinwheel die. It's a long sentiment, perfect for across a card, but for this particular one, it was just too long.

So, one of the advantages of clear mount stamps is you can just cut the rubber! I know it sounds awful, but I cut the image in two pieces and placed them on the block how I wanted them spaced.

It's really not a big deal; you can just position them back as original for use later if you wish. I love the versatility of rubber stamping!

Some 8x8 Bridal Wedding Layouts using Elements of Style

Some weeks ago I was asked to provide some 'entertainment' at a Hen's Party. The hostess thought it would be lovely if all the guest contributed towards making something of a keepsake for the bride.

At her request, we decided to make up a lovely photo album for the bride to use for her wedding photos later. It was a success! The guests loved having that activity on the side to do, and the bride herself was thrilled to have an album where each of her guests had added a bit of personalization.

Her colours were Calypso Coral and Very Vanilla. So here is what I came up with that any person at the shower could achieve while still being very nice for the bride:

Couldn't not use the favorite bird punch!

I designed up four pages the guests created variations of these designs.

EAch of the pages had the flourish from the Elements of Style stamp set, creating unity amongst the pages.

I used the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder and finished it off with the Basic Pearls and the Jewellery Tag Punch. Easy and effective!

The nice thing about the 8x8 size is that a couple of photos and one embellishment is pretty much all you need! I used the Apothecary Accent Framelits here, which has been my most used die set for scrapbooking by far, to create a nice accent for the journaling.

The flower here was created by layering all the images from the Boho Blossom Punch. I've inked the edges with Calypso Coral and adhere with a simple brad.

This last design was the most popular! Everyone loves a butterfly! I've used both sizes of the butterfly punches, the Elegant Butterfly and the Bitty Butterfly here. Embellished with some Linen Thread and Pearls, and it looks great. Oh, and I've used the Boho Blossom Punch for the flowers again here, too!

All of the above were layered on top of the Lattice Die, also done in Vanilla.

I hope this inspires you to try scrapbooking or to make up an album of coordinating pages!

Rain or Shine Mini Album

Featuring the Rain or Shine Stampin' Up! stamp set and the Sunshine and Sprinkles Designer Series Paper, this cute project was presented at the Hamilton Extravaganza a few weeks ago by Kristine McKnickle and Christine Palmer, adapted from an album shown to us by Julia Leece at Regional Training last year.

This was a very popular project - so fresh and fun! Done in about 40 minutes, these mini albums are a quick way to put some photos together for a gift.

How to make a 5x7 envelope and Sentimental Journey Masculine Card

Featuring the SAB set Sentimental Journey, this project is inspired by Sandi McIver - I loved the look of it and the use of the Naturals Composition DSP here.

We've brayered the Natural Compostion DSP with the Early Espresso ink for a really rich, amazing look.

And we've used the Sentimental Journey image of the old fashioned bike here for a nice vintage look. The words are also from a SaleABration set - Vintage Verses, which is probably the one I used the most out of any of them.

We also made the matching envelope, which was fun. That adds such a wow! with the Simply Scored diagonal plate, it's really, really simple.

For those keeping a list, to make a 5x7 envelope, you need:

DSP cut to 10x10 inches

score A side 3 3/4 inches

Score B side 5 1/4 inches

Cut out the notches and voila! It took me a bit of time to work that out, so thought I'd share.

Tea for Two Just Add Ink Layout Challenge

This was fun! I just discovered that Just Add Ink holds a scrapbooking challenge each month (where have I been??), so I gave it a go. Madeleine asked me to scrap these photos next (I find it quite cool how they are now giving me photos and asking me to scrapbook them).

I have been hoarding these Calypso Coral polka dot sheets out of the packs for a while because I though they were so fun and happy and perfect for a layout. Happy coincidence that colour worked in with the minor photo (confess I 'made' it work!)

I LOVE the new burlap trim in the Seasonal Catalogue - had to use it on here! And paired with the ribbon rose flowers, it looks really cool. Just perfect for these shots of sort of a young vintage look.

I brought in the Wisteria Wonder to match Madeleine's hat and jacket. I'm not sure why she wore a zippered jacket with a lace dress, but the mix of elements went okay with the yin yang of these embellishments, too.

I used the Netting stamp on these Typeset letters to give it a little bit of texture. I left it as is; I didn't want this particular layout to be too fussy. The "clean vintage look" is what I call it. Perfect for the young, fresh face featured here.

Madison Avenue Version of the Notebooks

WEll I didn't get a pic of my girls teaching because I was out teaching myself, but my two eldest daughters, Madeleine (14) and Kjristi (12), taught these cool notebooks to their church youth group on Tuesday.

We changed them up to make them a bit more "young" and use the Sycamore Street DSP (available just another 8 days!) and the Madison Avenue Flower:

I also did up a version using the bird punch just in my designing with my own girls what they felt comfortable teaching:

The point of making these with the young women was for them to use them as gratitude journals for 21 days. The word stamp I have in the little window is a very, very old Stampin' Up! stamp sets called Small Script. I just love it and it did come in handy for this project!

Oh, I will never tire of our little bird!

Masculine I love You Card

This is a really cool card idea for men and women alike, redesigned and presented by Narelle Hoggard and Paula Reid at our Auckland Extravaganza.

The colour combo is just a winner . . . and that Red Glimmer Paper is just yum!

They did an excellent job. I'm blogging this today because I'm going to use this card tonight for Bayley's birthday dinner. Too much gush? Nah! Why not take the opportunity to embarrass my new 14 year old??

The new doilies are a great bargain at 24 for $5.95 and when you only need half of one, even better!
