Did you ever found yourself asking the question, "Why is there a white line on my ID card?" If you have, then you most like scratched the glass printhead inside your ID card printer. The cost of replacing the printhead in a printer can range anywhere from $500 to over $1600. The most common cause of scratched printheads are running dirty cards through the printer. When visiting customer sites, we often see blank cards sitting out on desktops where they are exposed to dust and scratching. Quality ID card blanks shouldarrive to you shrinkwraped in packs of 100. If you can't load all of your cards in the printer at one time, it is recommended to store them in a sealed plastic bag. The other common cause of scratched printheads is not cleaning the printer. While most manufacturers have a recommended cleaning cycle for their printers, we recommend cleaning your printer every time you change your ribbon. The small cost of a cleaning kit will greatly outweigh the cost and headache of a printer that can't print.
