The gift that every volleyball player wants to have. The ability to jump their highest and run their fastest.

These may help.
I got mine. I highly suggest you get yours. I've been using them for two weeks now and I love them. Just to try them out, I know this is crazy but I am hard on my feet and I wanted to know the truth soo I wore only one on my right foot while working out for 3 days. You can COMPLETELY feel the difference! No joke. My left foot didn't have the bounce, the kick that extra oomph that my right leg had and worse it got tired much faster.

This is what the 2004 USA Olympic teams and pro teams like the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Broncos; and collegiate teams like USC, UCLA, Nebraska, BYU, Long Beach State, Arkansas and Stanford men's and women's volleyball wear to jump higher and run faster.

Everyday I get emails from players wanting to know ways to increase their jump. This is one of the simplest ways to start....then there's the conditioning but in the mean time...YOU can definitely start with these.

Be sure to get your Volleyball Voices discount!!! DON'T FORGET to enter VOICES on the coupon as your code when you checkout.

When : January 19th The origins of this holiday are unknown. We have not found any information or documentation to confirm this is a true "National" day. But, don't let that pop (burst) your bubble, err pop your corn that is. It's a day to celebrate healthy (until you load it with salt and butter), and addicting popcorn. Strangely, National Popcorn Day is in January, yet National Popcorn Month is October. According to tradition, it is celebrated on January 19th each year. There is some suggestion that Popcorn Day may, at one point, have been tied to the Superbowl. And, we found one reference to it being on January 30th. On National Popcorn Day, we suggest you pop up some fresh popcorn, kick back and enjoy! Also note that "Caramel Popcorn Day" is April 7th. More Information: Encyclopedia Popcornica This site is popping with history, recipes and fun stuff. But, it loads slow. Popcorn Day Popcorn Trivia
But there are some fun and creative "holiday" observances that we can appreciate as athletes, I think.

Volleyball players in the film industry already know about Sundance Film Festival week but I’m not sure if writers and poets that play know that the third week in January is National Handwriting Analysis and National Cowboy Poetry Gathering week.
My pick for the weeks to celebrate for volleyball players are the following:
January 1-7 “Women's Self Empowerment Week” Week

http://www.suzeorman.com/

Avon Products, Inc. Partners with Acclaimed Financial
Expert Suze Orman to Educate and Empower Women

Orman to be Special Personal Finance
Advisor to Avon Representatives

New York, NY – January 3, 2008—Avon Products, Inc. announced today a special partnership with Suze Orman, renowned personal finance expert, Emmy Award winning television host and best-selling author. Ms. Orman will work with Avon to advance their shared missions to provide financial empowerment to women around the world. In this capacity, she will serve as a Special Personal Finance Advisor to the Avon Representatives to offer money management advice and strategies for success. A first of its kind in the direct selling industry, the program will launch this month to the company’s nearly 500,000 Avon Representatives in the U.S., with plans to expand globally in the future.

"At Avon, we truly believe that the single most effective way to create positive change in the world is by helping to improve the lives of women everywhere," said Andrea Jung, Avon’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "For over a century—thirty-four years before women won the right to vote—Avon has been providing women the opportunity to earn money and achieve economic independence. Suze shares our deep commitment to empower women, and working together, we can form a powerful partnership to continue to advance this important agenda."

Ms. Jung noted that Avon had conducted a worldwide opinion poll of women in 16 countries in early 2007, and the findings overwhelmingly showed that worries about money were at the top of the list of women's concerns. "Having enough money to live right and pay the bills" was cited by women as the number-one factor that would change their lives for the better.

"No company is more committed than Avon to helping women achieve economic independence," says Suze Orman, "and this is certainly what my life and work are all about. The partnership with Avon is a logical and natural extension of everything I believe in. We both want to motivate women to be more, so that they can have more, for themselves and their families. I am confident we can make a huge difference toward the goal of empowering women and helping them achieve their financial hopes and dreams."

As part of the partnership, Avon Representatives and employees will be provided with unprecedented access to Ms. Orman. An "Ask Suze" mailbox feature on the Avon intranet site has been created so Avon Representatives and employees can submit personal questions to Ms. Orman for individualized advice and guidance. Critical financial management tools will also be provided to determine FICO scores, create a will and trust, evaluate insurance and guard against identity theft. Ms. Orman will also be featured at key events, webinars and taped webcasts.

"We know that financial security is the path to well being, self confidence and self esteem, and there simply is no one better than Suze—the world’s most sought after personal financial advisor—to inspire and educate the Avon Representatives to create more personally fulfilled lives for themselves," says Liz Smith, President, Avon Products, Inc. "For over 120 years, Avon has given women unique earnings opportunities, and with Suze’s valuable guidance, Representatives will have the tools they need to make the most of these earnings. Together, we want to change the way the world thinks, feels and acts about money."
The long-term partnership with Suze will begin in January 2008.

Fun Daily Observances for January

So, I just discovered that January 3 is National (national? This should be international!) Chocolated Covered Cherry day. Trust me if I’d known about this holiday last week I would have prepared for this day like I prepare for Christmas-two years in advance. Trust me next year…it’s on! Actually I found a couple of upcoming "chocolate" days that are celebrated nationally so I will give plenty of forewarning and gift exchanging ideas for the chocolate loving volleyball players especially those left side hitters..

For the last four days of 2007 I was extremely busy taking care of my sick dogs, brother and sister cocker spaniels, Missy and Domino who we rescued from being turned in to the pound in Los Angeles. A couple of weeks ago they manifested what I thought was a cold but later found out it was distemper.

They just kept getting worse with Domino bleeding from his nose and progressively having trouble walking while Missy exhibited unusual neurological symptoms like waking up and barking at the wall, falling into the pool on New Year’s morning, the same pool she avoided like the plague during the height of the Vegas summer. I rescued her, dried her off and she stayed in bed all day until I took her outside for a minute during the evening. After she peed she started walking around in circles, tight circles not chasing her tail but never stopping to walk a straight line. I got her in the kitchen and she subsequently walked under a chair and got stuck. She couldn’t step over the rungs of the chair just to walk out from underneath. When I showed this activity to my mom we both knew she had to go to the emergency room.

After an initial examination by an assistant and while waiting for the doctor Missy had a seizure right in front of us. She was given valium and the doctor told us that we would have to leave her there because there was nothing to be done. When she saw me again she struggled in recognition and fighting the effects of the valium as best she could. I said good bye by hugging her and continuously telling her that I loved her over and over again until she calmed down and nodded off. I tearfully left and went home hoping we could save her brother.

At home, four hours later Domino, who all evening put up the biggest fight he could, had a seizure at 4am and we took him back to the emergency room and had to leave him there. Domino fought to the end, unable to lay down and stay still for more than a minute at a time he kept getting up and pacing and getting up and pacing until he didn’t have any energy left. I’m sure he knew his sister was gone but he was doing everything he could to resist until he had a seizure. Just like I did with his sister I covered him in his favorite blanket and picked him up and carried him to the car and drove to the ER vet. This was January 1, 2008.

In honor of any volleyball players and their pets who passed away prematurely, I’m going to celebrate Champion of the Month Day – January 15.

On the lighter side of things I think the following are days necessary to set aside and celebrate during the month of January:

"Penguin Awareness Day" on January 12-not sure how yet but when I found out, you’ll be the first I tell.

"Appreciate a Dragon Day" January 16. Please I’m dying to know how to celebrate this day….is there a ‘dragon martini’, ‘dragon sangria? out there anywhere?)

Um apparently Judgement Day is …(drum roll)…………….January 17. Who knew? I didn’t know it had already been decided.

January 19-20 are Eagle Days…not sure if that’s for the bird or for <a href="<a%20href=" search?ie="UTF8&keywords=eagle&tag=aprilsbeachvo-20&index=music&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325"">the group".

We have a choice on January 21 between "National Hugging Day" (a personal favorite to use as an excuse to meet a cute volleyball player! Hey YOU need a hug. What for? Well it’s a holiday!)), "Squirrel Appreciation day" and "Answer Your Cats Questions day".

Towards the end of the month we have "Celebration of Life Day"on January 22 along with my personal favorite "Rid the World of Fad Diets and Gimmicks" Day. If more people just went outside and played volleyball we wouldn’t have a Fad diet problem much less the need for this holiday!

For "Belly Laugh Day" and "National Compliment Day" celebrated on January 24, I'd like to point out that these are nationally celebrated holidays which are regularly celebrated across the country, but I never heard of them before.

Pick a day, pick a week, choose a volleyball playing friend and celebrate life. It’s short.

Sign up for the FREE Volleyball Voices Newsletter Subscription Drive.

Since birthdays tops my list of reasons to exchange gifts I’ve included a short list of Volleyball Players celebrating birthdays today (or this week depending on how much celebrating I did the night before!).. Happy Birthday…go out and buy yourself a gift or better yet have someone do it for you!

Here we just listed the top 5, please note, the more "mature" or experienced players in many cases.
