A fellowship hour with coffee and homemade refreshments follows the Easter Service - as well as an Easter Egg Hunt for the little ones. All are welcome!
Advent Lutheran Church, Rindge, will hold a traditional Irish dinner, 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., March 26 at the church. A share of the proceeds will go to relief efforts to help victims of Japan's earthquake and tsunami. Cost is $8 adults, $7 seniors, $4 for children and includes corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots, Irish soda bread and desserts. Call 899-3095 and leave a message.
The Reverend Robert Morris Lindberg of Keene has been called to serve as pastor to Advent Lutheran Church in Rindge beginning immediately. Lindberg is an ordained Episcopal priest and most recently has served in special capacities as a Military Family Service Specialist with the American Red Cross in Keene and as a mental health worker at Brattleboro Retreat, working with veterans, police and firefighters suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Lindberg served as squad leader in the U. S Amy, 937th Combat Engineer Group, from 1968-1971.
He will serve Advent Lutheran in a half-time capacity. Advent Lutheran Church is a member congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and has an active membership of about 35 families. The congregation was founded in 1983.
Lindberg succeeds the Reverend Johanna Kiefner, who became a full-time social worker in February. The congregation was served by the Reverend Kari Keyl during the interim period.
Lindberg has served Episcopal parishes in Berwick, Pennsylvania; Warren, Ohio; Trenton, New Jersey and Buffalo, New York. He speaks fluent Spanish and served as a seminarian assistant at La Iglesia de Santa Natividad in Rochester, New York. His Master of Divinity degree was awarded by Bexley Hall in Rochester, New York in 1986. Lindberg lives with his wife, Maryann, who is Vice President for Advancement at Keene State College, and his son, Erik, a junior at Keene High School. A daughter, Signe, is a junior at St. Vincent’s College in Latrobe, PA.
The Episcopal Church and the ELCA have been in full communion since agreements passed by both went into effect in the year 2000. They had worked together for 30 years prior to that date. The agreement means the two denominations can share clergy and fully recognize each other's members, ministries and sacraments, as well as share the resources of their combined membership of just under 7 million in the U.S.
