Our planet is in the process of mass species extinction. And yet, synanthropic species’ like crows are hyper-adapting to human ecology. Crows are surprisingly smart; their brains are proportionate to that of chimpanzees. Not only do crows survive well with human beings, they thrive. They are skilled at making a living – primarily finding their food sources – by using their adaptation skills and intelligence.

In today’s uncertain workplace climate, we can all learn from crows ability to leverage the skills they have to adapt quickly. This blog was created to share ideas on how to best adapt and thrive in career and work relationships. Please join in the conversation and share your thoughts.

There are many tools that can be used to write a review (including paper and pencil), but what it comes down to is common sense. You shouldn't need an army of HR people to make sure managers are talking to their people, giving feedback and setting expectations. Do talent reviews 2x/year. And remember what Bill said...Brevity is the soul of wit. And business.

Perception is reality. Like it or not, the way you’re perceived affects the business you conduct (or don’t conduct) with others. This is especially true when it comes to interviewing, networking and meeting someone for the first time, and this is when the 12 x 12 x 12 rule becomes so important.

We all saw it coming. So why didn't anyone do anything about it? Amy Winehousewas a train wreck, but a talented one. I loved her vulnerability, her truthfulness, and her amazing voice. Do you have a friend or coworker (or both) who needs an intervention? What are you waiting for? Do something. Anything. Don't let another young, talented person die unnecessarily because no one had the cojones to help them.
