What's New in DriveWorks Pro?

What's IS new?.... It's a really good question and especially valid from people that have used DriveWorks prior to our latest release. The new release is available for registered users on support to download from the DriveWorks Customer Portal. License codes for DriveWorks 7 are independent of codes for DriveWorks 6 so that customers in production can install DriveWorks 7 and familiarize themselves with the new interface and new features BEFORE migrating their 6 projects to 7.

So what is NEW? ... Well for starters in DriveWorks 7 we have used new software for creating HELP and the answer to What's NEW in DriveWorks Pro is documented in the HELP file ..... so if you have 7 installed simply grab a coffee and delve into the HELP file :)

Pacific Design Show - California

46,000 visitors PLUS, that is the number of people that visite the Show! That is ALOT of people and with all the halls at the massive Anaheim Convention Centre full to bursting it meant there were ALOT of exhibitors too... and that included DriveWorks!

Time to invest in cushion-soled 'show' shoes I think!

Thank you to EVERYONE that attended DriveWorks - The Movie.

We really hope you enjoyed the format this year - thank you to all who starred and all who watched the LIVE event. For those of you that missed it, GABI JACK summarized the format very well in her blog.

It gave us a great opportunity to take the cast and audience into the heart of a company designing and selling custom products. We looked at some of the challenges facing their own customers, the pressures faced by the sales guys, the demands on the engineers. And all wrapped up in a LIVE tour of DriveWorksXpress, DriveWorks Solo and the ALL NEW DriveWorks Pro.

DriveWorks - The Movie - Filming

With the venue for SolidWorks World this year being so close to Hollywood and with James Cameron as the keynote speaker we decided to inject a little star quality in to DriveWorks World.

Here are two of our stars - Bill Taylor and Jeremy Regnerus of SolidWorks learning their lines and being filmed prior to the movie. Thanks guys - can't wait to post the out-takes to my personal blog too!

SolidWorks World 2010 - Sunday

So with the booth all set up on the Saturday I always look forward to the Sunday evening reception.

It's great to catch up with friends and colleagues in the 'Reseller Exclusive' Preview and of course to speculate on what announcements we might hear during the general sessions.

As you can see from the photo the booth was divided into 3 sections to show the fully scalable path all the way from DriveWorksXpress included in SolidWorks, to DriveWorks Solo, inside SolidWorks, to DriveWorks Pro.

DriveWorks Pro takes our product configurator out to the web as a sales configurator whilst maintaining full fidelity Design Automation for the generation of sales and manufacturing data and documentation.

SolidWorks World 2010 - The build up

This our 9th SolidWorks World! And our first in Anaheim. The venue is impressive, everything very conveniently located and reading through the agenda there are at least 22 presentations on Design Automation. Today is Saturday and we have just finished setting up the DriveWorks booth in the Partner Pavilion. The folks from the SolidWorks Partner Team came by to see how we were getting on!

DriveWorks Forms - French, Italian, German, Spanish and English

Because DriveWorks software is used all over the world, our latest DriveWorks Solo Sample Project lets you choose which language will be displayed on the forms.

How has it been set up - very easily .... using a few rules of course!

Click on the German flag on the first screen and the language displayed will be German, and the currency will be Euros. Click on the British flag and the language displayed on all the subsequent forms will be English.

Two currency options appear when English is the default language - Dollars or Sterling.

Make your selections and then off you go. You can start designing your new Door and Door Frame (with window options too!) in the language of your choice.

You will be able to preview and generate your models, drawings and quote.

It's all about the content!

We all appreciate that it's great to save a bit of time and that is one of the reasons I'm such a big fan of automation. Now we have something NEW for all those people with DriveWorksXpress - in other words EVERY SolidWorks User (with 2008/2009/2010). Now we have our very own Content Store. Now SolidWorks users can go to the DriveWorksXpress Content Store, browse content and then download it and use it.

We have made each project a Single file download with one click installation to make sure all SolidWorks users are up and running with the minimum of fuss!
