I've just come back from showing Natasha and Michael their wedding pictures and I'm delighted to tell you they loved them. December 28th isn't the most traditional of days to get married, but it's actually perfect time, in that gap between Christmas and New Year and we had that Christmas sunshine really strong low light that if you know how to work it you can get some stunning images Just a few pictures here and just so you know the bride made the bouquets and floral decorations herself

Winter weddings can go one of two ways, beautiful crisp sunshine, long shadows, fabulous skies and all the fabulous greens, golds and reds of Christmas ..... or freezing cold wet and horrible. I like small weddings, there's no fuss the groups take no time at all and you can get to talk to everyone. And where better for a small wedding than Stratford-upon-Avon's boutique hotel and restaurant the Townhouse? I was bidding for a commercial job recently and talking to the client realised that there just weren't that many rooms and interiors on the web-site. I guess we get more excited about the fashion pictures because they are seen as more glamorous, but all businesses need compelling shots and these kinds of pictures aren't quite as straight forward as you might first think. First off they'll be a horrendous mixture of different lights in the room, fluorescent tubes, tungsten spots, low energy bulbs... our brains can cope with that but the camera sees them all as different colours Secondly...

mad men shoot

In October we went all madmen for a shoot inspired bt the TV series styled by Lynsey LeKeux and using models from her sugabillies agency we set to work in the custard factory Classic fifties and sixties lighting stiles really need tungsten lamps like the ones they use on movie sets but as this was a location shoot and the budget didn't extend to a crew, I wimped out and settle for strobes with a honeycomb grid to give a similar effect.

Exciting news: Monday November 1st saw me officially take on the lease for what will become our gallery and studio in Warwick .
