No Bush Left Behind
2007
DV, 7:00

About the work:
There aren't too many movies that I find scary- even the ones people
swear as being heart-attack inducing make me laugh more than cry. Two
things that do scare the hell out of me, however, are George Bush and
deluded Born Again Christians gleefully awaiting the apocalypse. This
is their story, by way of Kirk Cameron.

About the artist:
Some things Memo has made: long films, short films, music videos, a comic book about technology, hand-painted t-shrits, different types of animation, lots of music with and without vocals, and a website full of helpful tips for not ruining our planet... most of which can be found at his online home of http://www.foolfactory.com

Your Metal Brain
2007
Film and DV, 5:00

About the work:
Computers absorbing humanity is a classic sci-fi/horror theme. Some of today’s futurists believe computer hegemony is nearly at hand. “Your Metal Brain” - a mix of a 1980’s Japanese horror-art film and a lecture by a leading futurist - is a grim and comic take on the human/machine marriage.

“Your Metal Brain” represents my reaction to reading “The Singularity Is Near” by Ray Kurzweil. Mr. K sees us merging with our computers, eventually becoming pure computational energy. He makes a plausible case that it will happen in our life times and that resistance is futile. Are you scared yet?

About the artist:
Rob Parrish is the DC-based creator of the web series Next To Heaven.
NTH features public domain films re-cut to newly recorded voice-overs.
According to New Tee Vee, NTH fits nicely into that very popular niche
“the comedy of personal misery.”

The Barn
2007
Video, 3:00

About the work:
The Barn is a short video using previously recorded material from a longer video performance piece that was a collaboration with artist Nadine Sobel. In this context it becomes a short experimental narrative about the psychological implications of a barn's unknown or dark history. This work is also a collaboration with sound artist Leif Solem.

About the artist:
Jenny Hyde is an opportunist. Her work is often created spontaneously for specific events and spaces.
