Fear Revere is a collection of 13 short films by an international group of artists and filmmakers. They were asked to reflect on the genre of horror and the general idea of making something for the purpose of frightening ones audience. Boo!

About the workk:
Amidst an environment of distortion and manipulation, what are the impacts on the ability to differentiate the inner from the external, fact from fiction?  an individual is placed within a situation that challenges the very notion of the social contract by exploiting a loophole in Hobbesian logic.  "social contract" explores this situation that over time, acts not only as a reminder, but was a mirror to explicitly recognize the transgressions of the past.

About the work:
Computers absorbing humanity is a classic sci-fi/horror theme. Some of today’s futurists believe computer hegemony is nearly at hand. “Your Metal Brain” - a mix of a 1980’s Japanese horror-art film and a lecture by a leading futurist - is a grim and comic take on the human/machine marriage.

“Your Metal Brain” represents my reaction to reading “The Singularity Is Near” by Ray Kurzweil. Mr. K sees us merging with our computers, eventually becoming pure computational energy. He makes a plausible case that it will happen in our life times and that resistance is futile. Are you scared yet?

About the artist:
Rob Parrish is the DC-based creator of the web series Next To Heaven. NTH features public domain films re-cut to newly recorded voice-overs. According to New Tee Vee, NTH fits nicely into that very popular niche “the comedy of personal misery.”

Jenny Hyde is an opportunist. Her work is often created spontaneously for specific events and spaces. If she can't do something new, old work is digitally hacked up to fit into new places. Thats what she likes about digital media. Nothing stays the same from viewing to viewing, content changes with context.

Mendota

About the work:

Inspired by the cinematic horror genre, specifically the work of Alfred Hitchcock.  'Mendota' is a three minute animated video study, employing the bizarre 'art' of taxidermy.  The work is a contemplation of the horrific necrophiliac behavior of the murderer Ed Gein.  Titled 'Mendota', as Mr. Gein was committed to the Mendota State Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.

About the Artist:

From early shows at the infamous 01 Gallery on Los Angeles' Melrose Boulevard in the 1990’s, Michael Amter has developed an exquisite personal vocabulary of graphic symbols and metaphorical imagery.  The artist known for complex - obsessive painting, gradually evolved his unique expression into a striking personal language, entertaining thematic properties of scientific theory.  Michael Amter's work has exhibited extensively, including the Meridian International Organization's 'True Colors' memorial 9-11 Exhibition.  The artist has toiled in film production with Propaganda Films and NBC Television, held residencies at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, and was even commissioned by NYC’s highly regarded Creative Time.
