today while i was at work.

my deadline for 4 layouts and one other project is tomorrow. (maybe if Wendy is reading this she'll post a comment granting me an extension of a day??!!;0)

Casey has a soccer game tonight (8:00)so i wont be getting at scrapping until at least 10:00. The positive aspect is i do my BEST scrapping under extreme pressure and late at night...really late at night...

Is this useless information of any interest to ANY of you or is this just a continuation of the useless/meaningless crap i post on this ridiculous blog?

uh huh... and JUST WHAT DOES THAT MEAN ANYWAY??

response to a couple of e-mails:

1. YES, cutting this acrylic REALLY IS EASY! TRUST ME!!!
2. YES, there are various acrylics, nonglare and CLEAR.
(there could be more but i don't know)
3. YES, i will show you some of my finished albums.
4. YES, i sure will teach a class here in Calgary, IF there are enough of you that would like to do a class! I need 7 people to do the class. I'll work out the cost if i get enough interest.

Here's a few photos to show you how easy cutting acrylic is. You just have to be careful not to slip and slice your hand open! LOL! i guess it's really NOT THAT funny...

This is an album JASPER, yes, JASPER cut at least half the pages for me (the album is 10 pages of a variety of sizes. It's soooooo cool. I haven't scrapped anything in it yet, so i was able to photograph it for you to see.

He loves to cut this stuff. The photos show you the difference in the acrylics i buy. The one Jasper cut was a clear acrylic versus the "non-glare" wavey album.

and your thinking to yourself, "why would i want to cut my own when i can buy them?" Why indeed!

By learning to cut your own, you are not confined to the sizes that the various companies offer! You can make yourself a 12x12 acrylic album or any other size under the sun! YOU pick the size, then cut it to your measurements.

That's why i make my own...mainly because of the different sizes i can make. PLUS, if you want to make a pattern that you can't buy (i've NEVER bought an acrylic album by the way, i have always cut my own)then doing your own, opens that option right up. Of course, you won't be able to cut difficult patterns, but what the hell? WHO CARES? you'll be able to make enough funky styles that it won't matter if you can't cut, for example, a crown. Once you get really good at it, you'll be cutting cool patterns in no time anyway!

The other GREAT thing, is you can mix and match chipboard with acrylic, giving you endless options for an album.

It took me about 15 minutes to cut the squares from the big piece and about 5 minutes to drill the holes. It is SOOOOOO easy to do and you will love your own albums so much more, i'm sure!

you will need the proper cutting tool. buy a knife specially made for cutting acrylic and life will be so much easier! You can purchase these and the acrylic at ANY home reno store.

For the purposes of this "S&T", i bought the smallest size sheet. Once cut the pages are approx. 18 x 14 cm. A C U T E

the sheets come covered with a protective plastic. I have always taken the plastic off before cutting. It's always the hardest part of the whole job for crying out loud, cause that stuff sticks!

"Measure twice, cut once" as a wise woman, Margaret, used to say! I cut these sheets into 4, obviously giving me 4 sheets. I use 2 per album, just because I like 8 page albums. I THINK the acrylic sheets were around $3.00 each ($4.00??). CHEAP!

Using your handy dandy cutting tool and a metal ruler (i know...i couldn't find mine!) draw you line. I go over the same line about 15-20 times. Once you get a bit of a groove, it's really quick and easy. USE A RULER so you stay on the line each time! That's sooo important!

Once you have a good line cut, put the sheet on an edge and CAREFULLY snap it along the slice! It SHOULD snap very nicely if your line is deep enough.

Once you have all 8 pieces cut, using a heavy duty clamp, clamp them all together making sure the edges are all even. You're going to be drilling your holes now. The other GREAT thing about making you own albums is YOU DECIDE where you want the spine of your album to be located. I made this one a horizontal rectangle with the spine along the left side.

you can put as many rings as you'ld like. You don't have to make it a traditional 3 ring, you can make it more or less and even stagger your rings to add some interest to your overall album style!

i decided NOT to try to catch up with the "show and tells". I'm just going to continue where i left off so we definitely won't have 52 weeks afterall.

since a couple of you already know, here's the new DT i've been asked to be a part of. I know, i know, i said i was done with the DT thingy. lots of work for little reward and at times, some very rude people who think they have the right to critique your work because you are on a DT. Well, i said yes to Wendy and the BAD GIRLS because Wendy told me i get to do whatever i wanna do...i just have to use their really funky product...my kit for March is in the mail and if it is what i think it is going to be, well, lets just say, i am going to have the BESTEST time creating with this stuff. go check out their site! there's lots to see and the talent over there is second to none! And my GP ALLISON is also on the team. Wendy is even talking about a retreat in California! "HOLY SHIT" i said to mineself. "I'M SO GOING! (if they invite me!)"
