Today we are improving OpenCoffeed.ie. Just remind you that the OpenCoffee Club role is to organise real-world informal meetups to chat, network and grow in Ireland. To do that, we need to promote the website by creating a outstanding design and emphasize our members and share our meeting calendar to the world.

Prominent Social Media Conversations about OpenCoffee

OKI YUSEF writes about finding references to OpenCoffee on different social networks, including Facebook, Flickr, Twitter and LinkedIn. On the Facebook website, there many photographs from the social group, and on Twitter I got results from Twitter member in different language while Flickr shows subgroups from Cork, Dublin, Galway, Limeriek and groups from other cities in Ireland with openCoffee. Linkedin throws back results from many countries in the world and Ireland rates very highly in total members. This is very cool to look at the reach of a social conversation and it is worth doing whenever judging the true effectiveness of a business network.

The IIA are hosting a campaign, Digitise the Nation, to reach businesses, consumers, students. Sheila Newman wonders, "Live Feeds what are they?"

As part of my research I googgled " what is a live feed". Google brought me to "Live Feed is a 2006 horror film directed by Ryan Nicholson and starring Kevan Ohtsji, Taayla Markell and Stephen Chang". I then changed it to Live feeds Google's search response was "No definitions were found for Live Feeds". Luckily for I have a third definition of what is meant by Live feeds .

My Definition of Live Feeds:

A live feed is an ever changing piece of information which is inserted in to a website and is then instantaneously updated on the screen.

I know some people will not agree but I welcome their insight as you would never learn anything if people did not share their opinion and knowledge!

What can they do for opencoffee.ie?

Live feeds can breathe life back into opencoffee.ie if anyone has been looking at the site recently the last post was way back when the dinosaur still roamed the earth!

Ok I am going a bit far but with the technology we have today. Sites like opencoffee.ie which are left crying out for new life can be given one. Live feeds they can be set up and used in sites and give the user live up to the minute information. So add live feeds or book your one way ticket to the way back machine!

There are many site which use live feeds twitter.com is one as is facebook.com , friendfeed.com, jaiku.com need I go on? They ask users to to share what they are doing which is then shared instantly.

This leads us to my last Question what is a Trustworthy live feed?

A trustworthy live feed is one which you trust obviously! I have named a few sites which all have live content and have connections to opencoffee.ie So the creators can choose a relevant site and insert a live feed to opencoffe.ie and breathe life back into this site.

Opencoffee Ireland since 2007

David Maher concludes people of Ireland has been talking about Opencoffee since Feburary 2007. First digital evidence of it I can find is of James Corbett asking for suggestions on where to start holding the Opencoffee Club. First Flickr pictures emerge around April 2007 taken by Topgold.

Open Coffee Club Typelist

Barry Doyle writes, its pretty easy to make a list using typepads typelist function. I have created a list of Open Coffee clubs in Ireland (South & North). This was a relatively easy task. I googled for Open Coffee groups in Ireland and populated a list in typepad with links to each club. I then made a link to this list on the sidebar to the right, again using the tools available in Typepad. The proces from start to finish took 18 minutes.

Thanks to the generosity of Blacknight, we have a domain name that can be used to identify the casual meet-ups in Ireland using the term "Open Coffee". The idea of people setting aside a few hours every fortnight comes from OpenCoffee clusters in England. In Ireland, each of the six nodes (Belfast, Cork, Dublin, Galway, Limerick and Waterford) have different styles when they meet up. This website won't try to impose a uniform style on any of them. Instead, this website will be a group blog that pulls relevant content from information sources that support each of the six major OpenCoffee meet-ups in Ireland.

The first iteration of OpenCoffee.ie will be created by a third level student at Tipperary Institute. Making the site will earn continuous assessment credit in a public relations module. And once this work is completed at the end of October 2008, the design will be signed over to a group of OpenCoffee regulars. In the meantime, feel free to subscribe to the OpenCoffee RSS feed and to contribute comments and suggestions.
