Isode's Internet Messaging Team Lead and IESG Area Director, Alexey Melinikov, has written an article on the latest LEMONADE developments (messaging for low-bandwidth and constrained storage devices) for the German-language Linux New Media Magazine. The article is availabe in its original format from the linux-magazin.de site but for those of you (and us) without German language skills, we've reproduced the original version in English.

Combined X.400 UA/Distribution List (in R14.6)

We are adding a new configuration option in M-Switch with GUI configuration from MConsole for an entity that has characteristics of both X.400 User Agent and X.400 Distribution List (DL). When receiving messages, this address will act like a DL, with messages being delivered to multiple users. However, unlike a standard DL there is an associated "normal" UA with the same address that can send messages. The primary driver for this capability is Aviation (AMHS) to support configurations that emulate older AFTN configurations that have addresses which behave in this way.

IPv6 Support (in R14.6)

In the first of a series of blog posts describing new features in Isode's R14.6 release (scheduled for March 2010) we look at IPv6 support. IPv6 is the new version of IP. The major change relative to IPv4 (which is the version of IP most widely used) is the much larger address space. While many Isode products have supported IPv6 for some while, R14.6 is the first release where all products are IPv6 compliant.

Interworking with XMPP Clients and Servers lacking security label support

Over the last few months we've been adding a lot of new functionality to our XMPP server, M-Link, and this has been reflected in an increased tempo of releases. The latest release focuses on improving interworking with XMPP clients and servers which do not support security labels, adding new features of interest mostly to our customers and evaluators in the Govt/Intell/Military markets.

Requirements for XMPP Digital Signatures (XEP-0274)

Digital signatures for XMPP messages are a desirable addition to the currently standardized peer to peer digital signatures (strong auth based on PKI). Isode is working to enable a standard.
