Festival Bella Via 2011: 'The Last Supper' Exhibition Street Painting

Today we wish to share our experiences watching the creation of the Festival Bella Via 2011 main exhibition piece 'The Last Supper' by Leonardo Da Vinci.

Led by Madonnaro Cuong Nguyen, with the artist team of Maestro Madonnaro Juandres Vera, (Madonnari Qualificati Category Winner, 2010), Juan Carlos Romero from Cuba, a Madonnaro Qualificati Winner 2011, and Madonnaro Qualificati Miquel Lopez Lopez, the team reproduced this iconic artwork to the appreciation of the thousands of visitors in attendance.

Blog Now on streetpainting.tv believes that the best part of the street painting is the creation of the art work itself although the pride in the completed work is a special one shared by the artists. Here we have Cuong underway detailing the face of John.

Juandres Vera street painting the face of Jesus Christ, the focal point of 'The Last Supper' in terms of the subject and how all points (perspective) in the artwork are centered upon Him.

The level of detail is critical in the successful execution of works such as 'The Last Supper' and Cuong Nguyen's exceptional talent and artistic reputation for portraiture brought beauty to their reproduction of the artwork (below).

We are watching Miguel detailing around the head of Simon, bringing the figure out from the background colors.

3D/AR chalk art and street art murals by Anthony Cappetto and Shawn McCann at Techfest 2012 - Mumbai, India

During the Holiday Season (New Year's), Shawn McCann and I (Anthony Cappetto) were invited to share our art with the 80,000 attendees of IIT Bombays Techfest 2012 in Mumbai, India. We were both excited about the event and here is what we did:

Here is Shawn (above), posing proudly with the main wall (detail) he designed for Techfest, highlighting the IIT Bombay robot mascot in a 3D space. Check out the world in binary code and a futuristic vehicle bursting through the 'Techfest'!

As blending 3D Chalk/AR art is a new way of combining traditional art and emerging technology is stll quite new, students at IIT Bombay were very excited to see this new art form. Several hundred students posed and interacted in pictures with the mascot as well as animated birds which was great to do through Techfest 2012 over the three day event.

It was great for us to do this unique project allowing us to bring our art works to the students at Techfest 2012 and hope to do so again in the future. We took a moment to pose in front of this terrific mural that Shawn (at right) created here in Mumbai.

Festival Bella Via 2011: Premio Trayectoria (Career Award)

Festival Bella Via 2011 added a new award this past year, the Career Award. This award was given to recipients who have participated in the Festival Bella Via competition (Semplici Category) every year since the festival started, 8 years now. We've watched their work grow over the years and appreciate all of their efforts and spirit of competition! Congratulations!
