We are currently going through a series on Sunday mornings titled, "My Ultimate Purpose." At the end of the day we all lay down wondering whether we accomplished all that we had to accomplish, and then go over in our head what we have for the next day. For many of us the list never gets shorter.

Have we ever wondered if we are doing the right things in life? I'm not just talking about time management, but referring to the actual things that we do, and how we do them. My fear is that most of us run around with no sense of an ULTIMATE GOAL in mind for the smaller things that we are trying to achieve. It's like going to football practice without ever having a game. Why do we keep doing what we're doing with no end in sight? What's all this for?

So is there an Ultimate Purpose for what we do? Is there a END that we are all working toward in everything that we do?

I think we should ask, "What does God say in the Bible?" After all, he is the one who created us, so maybe he has a good idea of what he created us for.

Genesis. 1:27, "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them."

So according to this verse, we were created in the "image" of God. What is an image, or what does an image do? Think of a mirror. When you look into it, you see an image. It is a reflection of something. So if we were created in the image of God, then we were created to reflect God. We were created to live in such a way that the world will see God!

1 Corinthians 10:31, "So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."

Colossians 3:17, "And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the father through him."

Everything we do should be done to glorify God! Everything we do should be done in the name of Jesus, done in such a way as to represent Jesus to the world. Everything we do should be about making much of God. Everything! Everything! Everything!

This one single truth has been so revealing to me in my life. There are so many things that the world expects of me, and that I expect of me. But when I read what God expects of me through the Bible, I realize that my one single purpose in life--my ultimate purpose--is to bring Glory to him. I was created to Glorify God in all I do and say...in everything!

This is my purpose for living! This is the meaning of life!
