My wonderful mother, who fell down the stairs in...Greg Bell<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p><img alt="" border="0" src="http://www.jazzrochester.com/images/jazzsign2.jpg" style="margin: 5px; float: right;"></img>For those of you who don't already know through other channels, my almost unprecedented absence from this blog last Wednesday was due to a major and tragic development in my life. My wonderful mother, who fell down the stairs in my parents' new home in Wichita on July 18th, sustaining massive head injuries, passed from this world on Sunday, July 25th, at the <a href="http://www.hynesmemorial.org">Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice</a> in Wichita (a wonderful place who treated her with dignity and deep care in her final days and hours). I'm still in Kansas with my family. I need distractions, so have done the listings for live jazz in and around Rochester for the next seven days to help keep my mind off this devastating loss.</p>
