NEW YORK, April 29, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --The human rights organization American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI) has called upon government and law enforcement authorities to close three U.S. mosques that have been established as breeding grounds for jihad terror.

The call follows the issuance last week of AFDI's 18-point Platform for Defending Freedom, which offered practical steps to protect the nation from jihad terror in the wake of the Boston jihad bombings.

Those 18 points included a call for "immediate investigation into foreign mosque funding in the West and for new legislation making foreign funding of mosques in non-Muslim nations illegal," as well as for "surveillance of mosques and regular inspections of mosques in the U.S. and other non-Muslim nations to look for pro-violence materials. Any mosque advocating jihad or any aspects of Sharia that conflict with Constitutional freedoms and protections should be closed."

AFDI Executive Director Pamela Geller said in a statement: "In accord with those calls for responsible law enforcement regarding subversive activities in U.S. mosques, we are asking that government and law enforcement officials launch immediate investigations into the Islamic Society of Boston, the Dar al-Hijrah Mosque of Fairfax County, Virginia, and the Noor Center of Columbus, Ohio."

Geller emphasized: "These mosques are not unique. There are many others like them. But they are the tip of the spear. It is time that our officials demand that they obey American laws, or be held accountable for not doing so."

The reasons for the calls for closure include:

Islamic Society of Boston (two mosques, one in Cambridge and one in Boston)

Founded by Abdulrahman Alamoudi, who served as its first president. He is now in prison for financing al-Qaeda.

Aafia Siddiqui attended this mosque. She is now serving an 86-year-sentence for plotting a jihad attack in New York City, and firing at military officers and FBI agents when under arrest.

Tarek Mehanna attended this mosque. He is now serving 17 years in prison for conspiring to aid al-Qaeda.

Ahmad Abousamra attended this mosque. He was Mehanna's co-conspirator. He fled to Syria and is wanted by the FBI.

Jamal Badawi of Canada was a former trustee of the Islamic Society of Boston Trust. He was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the 2007 Holy Land Foundation Hamas terror funding trial.

Yusuf al Qaradawi, the Muslim Brotherhood spiritual leader who has praised Hitler and called on Muslims to finish his work, was a mosque trustee and has addressed congregants via recorded video message to raise money for the Boston mosque.

Yasir Qadhi, who lectured at the Boston mosque in April 2009, has advocated replacing U.S. democracy with Islamic rule and called Christians "filthy" polytheists whose "life and prosperity … holds no value in the state of Jihad."

Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the Boston Marathon jihad bombers, attended the Cambridge mosque.

The Dar Al-Hijrah Islamic Center, Fairfax County, Virginia.

The Saudi-backed North American Islamic Trust (NAIT), a Muslim Brotherhood group, bought the mosque's grounds in 1983.

Mohammed al-Hanooti, the mosque's imam from 1995-1999, was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

Anwar al-Awlaki, the mosque's imam from 2001-2002, has extensive contact with three 9/11 hijackers, the Fort Hood jihad murderer, and the Christmas underwear bomber.

Johari Abdul-Malik, the mosque's director of outreach from 2002 to the present, has defended Abdulrahman Alamoudi, who is in prison for financing al-Qaeda.

Ahmed Omar Abu Ali taught Islamic studies and was a camp counselor at the mosque; he is now in prison for plotting to assassinate President George W. Bush.

Shaker Elsayed, the mosque's imam from 2005 to the present, was Secretary General of the Muslim American Society, a Muslim Brotherhood group.

Nidal Malik Hasan, the Fort Hood jihad mass murderer, attended this mosque.

Abdelhaleem Hasan Abdelraziq Ashqar, a member of the mosque's Executive Committee, was convicted in November 2007 of contempt and obstruction of justice for refusing to testify regarding Hamas, and received an eleven-year prison sentence.

Noor Mosque, Columbus, Ohio

The leader of the mosque, Dr. Hany Saqr, was previously an imam for another area mosque which at that time was the base of operations for the largest known Al-Qaeda cell in the U.S. since 9/11, including convicted jihadists Iyman Faris, Nuradin Abdi, and Christopher Paul. Saqr is one of the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood in North America.

Dr. Salah Sultan was the mosque's unofficial scholar in residence. A protégé of Qaradawi, Sultan is now in the Middle East and has appeared on Egyptian television approvingly quoting the genocidal hadith about how the end times will not come until Muslims kill Jews, and previously appeared at events in support of Hamas and Qaradawi.

The Noor Center has been directly linked to the Somali Muslims who have gone from the U.S. back to Somali for jihad terror training.

Siraj Wahhaj, a friend of the Blind Sheikh and a potential unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, has spoken at the Noor Mosque.

Mosque members threatened the life of Rifqa Bary, a teenage girl who left Islam for Christianity.

NEW YORK, April 24, 2013 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- The human rights organization American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI) has unveiled a 18-point platform for preserving and defending free societies. The Platform for Defending Freedom is the fruit of the International Freedom Defense Congress of the international group Stop Islamization of Nations (SION), which was held in New York City at the UN Millennium Plaza Hotel on September 11, 2012, and is rendered urgent in the wake of the Boston Marathon jihad bombings.

AFDI Executive Director Pamela Geller said in a statement: "After deliberation and consultation with our international SION President's Council and our colleagues, we have developed these eighteen points to help freedom fighters focus on solution to the threat at hand. At the International Freedom Defense Congress, which was held across the street from the United Nations in New York City, representatives of European nations, as well as India, Israel, Malaysia, and Egypt's Coptic community were present. AFDI calls for the U.S. and other non-Muslim governments to recognize officially that Islam is a political movement and so not solely religious in the strict sense of the U.S. Constitution. AFDI recognizes that Islam in it mainstream theological formulations and its dominant form throughout its history, not "extremist Islam" or "hijacked Islam" or "Islamism," but Islam in the Qur'an and Sunnah as understood by Islamic jurists and theologians, can and should be regarded as an authoritarian and supremacist political system as well as a religion, and thus that Muslim groups should be subject to all the scrutiny and legal requirements of political organizations, without being able to shield their political activities behind the protection of religious freedom.

NEW YORK: -- The American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI), a foremost civil rights and human rights advocacy organization, today decried the wave of inflammatory victimhood posturing by Islamic supremacist groups such as the Hamas-linked groups following the Boston Marathon bombings and the revelation that the suspects in the case are Islamic jihad terrorists.

AFDI also noted that Americans of all faiths have rejected the call by a minority of extremists to deflect responsibility for jihad terror and obfuscate its root causes in Islamic texts and teachings.

While yet another violent jihad hate plot has been uncovered in Toronto in the wake of the Boston bombings, AFDI calls upon Muslims in the U.S. and Canada to take responsibility for cleaning up their communities and instituting programs to teach against the ideology of jihad hatred that fuels these plots. Instead, groups such as the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations is trying to fool Americans into thinking after these bombings that Muslims are victims.

"Americans need to understand the threat they're facing," said AFDI Executive Director Pamela Geller. "That is the chief lesson of the Boston jihad bombings. Hamas-CAIR, an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest Hamas funding trial in our nation's history, has created out of whole cloth a propaganda campaign that dissembles, deceives, and deliberately lies about what happened in Boston and its implications. This only serves to prevent an effective response to jihad terror, thereby enabling jihadists to strike again more easily."

CAIR is indeed an unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas terror funding case — so named by the Justice Department. CAIR operatives have repeatedly refused to denounce Hamas and Hizballah as terrorist groups. Several former CAIR officials have been convicted of various crimes related to jihad terror. CAIR's cofounder and longtime Board chairman (Omar Ahmad), as well as its chief spokesman (Ibrahim Hooper), have made Islamic supremacist statements. Its California chapter distributed posters telling Muslims not to talk to the FBI.

Although it has received millions of dollars in donations from foreign Islamic entities, it has not registered as a foreign agent as required by the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), despite spreading Islamic supremacist propaganda within the United States.

And although it presents itself as a civil rights group, CAIR actually has numerous links to hateful and violent Islamic supremacist and jihad groups.

CAIR founders Omar Ahmad and Niwad Awad (who still serves as CAIR's executive director) were present at a Hamas planning meeting in Philadelphia in 1993 where they and other Hamas operatives conspired to raise funds for Hamas and to promote jihad in the Middle East. CAIR has steadfastly refused to denounce Hamas and Hizballah as terrorist groups.

Several former CAIR officials have been convicted of various crimes related to jihad terror:

Ghassan Elashi , founder of CAIR's Texas chapter, in 2009 received a 65-year prison sentence for funneling over $12 million from the Islamic charity known as the Holy Land Foundation to the jihad terrorist group Hamas, which is responsible for murdering hundreds of Israeli civilians

Mousa Abu Marzook, a former CAIR official, was in 1995 designated by the U.S. government in 1995 as a "terrorist and Hamas leader." He now is a Hamas leader in Syria.

Randall Royer, CAIR's former civil rights coordinator, in 2004 began serving a 20-year prison sentence for aiding al-Qaida and the Taliban against American troops in Afghanistan and recruiting for Lashkar e-Taiba, the jihadist group responsible for the 2008 Mumbai jihad massacres.

Bassem Khafagi, CAIR's former community relations director, was arrested for involvement with the Islamic Assembly of North America, which was linked to al-Qaida. After pleading guilty to visa and bank fraud charges, Khafagi was deported.

Rabih Haddad, a former CAIR fundraiser, was deported for his work with the Global Relief Foundation (which he co-founded), a terror-financing organization.

In 1998 Omar Ahmad, CAIR's co-founder and longtime Board Chairman, said: "Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Koran should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth."

After he received unwelcome publicity as a result of this statement, Ahmad denied saying it, several years after the fact. However, the original reporter, Lisa Gardiner of the Fremont Argus, stands by her story.

CAIR's spokesman Ibrahim Hooper once said: "I wouldn't want to create the impression that I wouldn't like the government of the United States to be Islamic sometime in the future."

Salon, in its continuing holy war against me (and those who do this work) is running a scurrilous and vicious attack piece on our gay ads: "Stop trying to split gays and Muslims."

In this latest smear job, Chris Stedman accuses me of "trying to split gays and Muslims":

Anti-Islam crusader Pam Geller's effort to foment hate between the two groups is based on lies and doomed to fail

Gay atheist chaplain (now that's a mouthful) Chris Stedman is -- get this -- the "Assistant Humanist Chaplain and the Values in Action Coordinator for the Humanist Community at Harvard" (the only thing missing from this heaping pile of nonsense is the wizard of oz). Stedman is a humanist atheist chaplain who viciously attacks human rights activists. What will Harvard think of next?

Salon has repeatedly attacked my work and is carrying out a campaign of smears and defamation against me – most notoriously, it ridiculed my warnings of a Muslim Brotherhood takeover in Egypt back in January 2011 (The Blogger who still Loves Mubarak). I am still waiting for a mea culpa on that one.

I submitted a rebuttal to Stedman's silly attack piece at Salon. They have refused to run it (*shocka* -- more of today's fascist propaganda masquerading as journalism). I will submit it elsewhere, but in the meantime have a look at the support we receive in the Gay community (below).

There is a big difference between gay people and gay political organizations. Gay people usually have common sense and know very well that Islam is a big danger. On the other hand, we have LGBT political organizations which are obsessed with political correctness against all the facts on the ground. Whenever I write about Islam, I get more and more comments in support of my views. In fact, there is a dramatic change between the tenor of comments I received even a few years ago and the comments I get today. For all the information which comes from Muslim countries, most LGBT people have now a good idea that Islam is not their friend, to say the least. It's not at all like Salon is saying. I am sure that you know what Oriana Fallachi had to go through after she published her book "The Rage And the Pride". She got horrible press, but people loved the book. Don't get upset about some stupid article. Your ads will make people think. You are doing a great job. The American LGBT community is just as woefully uninformed about the harsh, deadly, current realities of islam as anyone else. It is for this reason that an LGBT division of SIOA was recently created. We as free American gay people intend to change this conversation by adding our truthful voices. When presented with the actual facts about islam, such as honor killings, modern day slavery,the invasion and genocide of countries too weakened to defend themselves, people in general, INCLUDING Gays, are seeing islam for what it really is, a real threat to every human being on the planet. Pamela Geller did not turn me in an outspokencritic of islam, September 11th did. Upon closer examination of islam, I fail to see one redeeming attribute of islam even worth preserving. Chris's characterization of islam as a just a religion with "some harmful practices", reveals a complete absence of any kind of functioning moral compass, or a seared, calloused, diseased conscience at best. Harmful practices are cigarette smoking and eating junk food, no islam does not have "harmful practices", it advocates the torture and murder of all those who are brave enough to oppose it. It sends it's 'warriors" into the bedrooms of sleeping children like the Fogel children and hacks them to pieces. It denies basic human rights and dignity to all women,indeed , it denies ALL of those things to all non-muslims. It is an embarassment to all of us with a conscience. The American LGBT community is allowing itself to be deceived and used for politcal reasons, When those political objectives have been met by islamists,where will that leave us? As a community we do not need the stigma of being allied with a group that is dedicated to "destroying western civilization from within". Exposing the truth or speaking the truth about islam and the threat it poses to all of humanity is not hate speech, it is perhaps the most radical act of love and bravery that anyone can do. It doesn't take courage to let yourself be browbeaten into submission and that is what Chris has obviously done.

In a Salon piece published on April 2, 2012 - Chris Stedman (who happens to be an openly gay man) states: "I have an earnest and sincere question for the LGBT community: Do you support Pamela Geller?"
I am a gay man living in Atlanta, GA, and I have an honest and sincere answer for Mr. Stedman: Not only do I categorically support Ms. Geller, I consider her to be a freedom-fighter of the highest order. She has endured years of slander and even death threats from supporters of the evil ideology that is Islam, simply for telling the truth about it. Mr. Stedman is evidently ignorant of the unconditional condemnation and death-sentence prescribed for homosexuals in the Islamic holy texts. This is more than just an aberrant interpretation or a small group of "extremists" who take these writings literally and act upon them. Homosexuals are routinely executed in Islamic countries simply for BEING homosexual. In fact, Israel is the ONLY nation in the Middle East where gay people can be open about their sexuality without fearing for their lives.

Far from "drumming up hatred, fear and xenophobia toward Muslims," as Mr. Stedman claims in his article, Pamela Geller (along with her colleague Robert Spencer) are defending the human rights of homosexuals, women and "infidels" who are all subject to violence and death from adherents of this nihilistic ideology which masquerades as a religion. It is almost inconceivable that ANY LGBT person would NOT support Geller's and Spencer's efforts, as they are two of the very few individuals with a public platform who state the truth about Islam and defend those it targets. Neither she nor Mr. Spencer have EVER painted all Muslims as violent, hateful people. Rather, they have gone out of their way to offer support and assistance to the victims and potential victims of this Islamic hatred. They are motivated by love - not by hatred or by fear. The current series of bus advertisements that Mr. Stedman complains bitterly about is a RESPONSE (which simply uses quotes from Islamic texts) to counter CAIR's deceptive ads running in the same cities which attempt to persuade ignorant Americans that "jihad" is simply going to the gym or doing something kind for your neighbor. Geller's ads are most emphatically not anti-Muslim. They are anti-ISLAM. That Stedman and evidently many thousands of useful idiots in both the LGBT and Jewish communities consider telling the truth about Islam "bigoted" is indicative or their (often willful) ignorance or moral cowardice.

The overwhelming majority of the Islamic apologists quoted in Stedman's article are engaged in willful deception with the express intent of "undermining Western Civilization from within." Those aren't my words or Pamela Geller's or Robert Spencer's. They are a direct quotation from Muslim Brotherhood documents seized during the Holy Land Foundation trial.

Yes, I proudly and emphatically proclaim my support for Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer. They display rare courage and literally risk their own lives to defend liberty and human rights. Both should be lauded as heroes by the LGBT community and the American public at large. That they are instead vilified is evidence of the success of organizations such as CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood in their ongoing campaign of deception.

I am proud to stand with both Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer. Their representations of Islam are correct. It is Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer who are true friends and defenders of the LGBT community. Muslims are not allies of the LGBT community, they are its mortal and implacable foes. There is no such thing as tolerance in Islam, only apostasy and heresy toward their religious duty to kill or subjugate the unbeliever. Under Sharia gays are executed and women are subjugated. If you believe supporting Islam anywhere is anything but suicide for LGBTs and women, you need to learn more about taqiyya and the fate of countries that ignored the threat of Islam--they may have had Christianity or religious diversity 50 years ago, but not any more. Muslims are not here to assimilate, or to be tolerant, or to live and let live. They come to conquer. It's just their modus operandi to whine and cry for pity until they have the upper hand. They scream and moan and lie about Pamela and Robert because Pamela and Robert tell the truth about what they're doing. Again we see the deceit and the smear in today's Huffington Post attack on our public awareness education campaigns. Apparently our ads are getting in the way of the lies and propaganda of Islamic supremacists. But read the comments and consider that this is the uber-left Huffington Post. In this piece, Engy Abdelkader, described as a "Human Rights Attorney," attacks human rights and the freedom of expression. Abdelkader calls our ad campaign a "well-orchestrated hate campaign to defame and demean American Muslims and their Islamic faith," as if all American Muslims are jihadists, annihilationists, and misogynists. Abdelkader cannot refute that these ads are true. Abdelkader does not argue the actual quotes and reality of the ads. Abdelkader instead attacks me and the message. it's a diversionary tactic to distract from the message.

Abdelkader attacks all of my ads, starting with our very first campaign, which was designed to help Muslims escape dangerous households because they wanted to lead a more Western life. I can tell you that lives were saved. Isn't that the point of the work of a "human rights attorney"? Muslims who contacted us and our network of aligned organizations (i.e. Former Muslims United) were given help, in some cases a safe house, and freedom. Just ask Rifqa Bary. How can any "human rights attorney" take issue with that?

She goes on to criticize our Islamorealism ads, which state the irrefutable and bloody fact that there had been over 19,250 deadly Islamic attacks since 911. Of course, today that number has ticked up to 20,650, but Abdelkader doesn't let let the dead bodies stand in the way of her self-righteousness.

Of course, Abdelkader refers to our ad campaign as "anti-Muslim," as if every Muslim supports the tens of thousands of acts of jihad or the oppression of subjugation of the sharia. It is Abdelkader who sounds anti-Muslim. My ads oppose jihad and sharia -- I want everyone to enjoy individual rights and freedom.

Our pro-Israel ad clearly made the biggest noise, because defending Jews is an incitement to violence and calling jihadists savages is .... offensive to savages. The fact is that any war on innocent civilians is savagery, and the relentless war on the Jews has been a war on innocent civilians since the establishment of Israel. And the savage response to our ads was a pointed reminder of just how anti-semitic the opposition is.

The Huffington Post and major enemedia outlets run Engy Abdelkader's kind of ad hominem attacks and pro-jihad propaganda all the time, which is why our ads are so necessary. You don't see Spencer, Ibn Warraq, Bat Ye'or, Darwish, Geller, et al in The Huffington Post, NY Times, LA Times, et al.

The American people are being disarmed with nonsense like this (below).

They should put these #MyJihad ads in Cairo and Karachi, not Chicago and San Francisco. Abdelkader's quarrel is with those Muslims who are waging violent jihad, not with me. Where is her Huff Po article attacking those devout Muslims?

Where is her outrage and rebel yell against the misogyny and honor violence under the sharia? Where is her outrage towards the destruction of churches and Hindu temples in Muslim countries? Does Abdelkader say anything about their libel? Muslims are freer in Israel than in most Muslim countries. We respond with truth. Truth is the recognition of reality. Abdelkader is in serious need of a reality check.

So this human rights attorney supports the sharia for gays, women, Jews, Christians, etc.? These ads are accurate, and millions live in abject misery under the sharia. That is the truth -- Abdelkader sounds more like an anti-human rights attorney.

Abdelkader delights in the dhimmi Jews and useful leftists who condemn our ads. Those sheep have plagued free men throughout history. They are mere props, puppets -- useful for a time. History will not be kind to them. They are the subject of my column tomorrow at WND. But they are of no consequence.

Devout Muslims are waging jihad in every corner of the world and terrorizing non-Muslims and secular Muslims who are living under the boot of sharia. If Abdelkader really means to "redefine" the ummah, start there.

Sometimes expressions of community manifest at unexpected yet necessary moments.

Illustrative is the American response to the recent proliferation of anti-Muslim hate advertisements on government owned public transit systems in cities around the country.

From San Francisco to Washington, D.C. to Detroit to Chicago to New York, daily commuters have confronted a well-orchestrated hate campaign to defame and demean American Muslims and their Islamic faith:
"Leaving Islam? Fatwa on your head? Is your family threatening you? Got Questions? Get Answers" "19,250 deadly ISLAMIC attacks since 9/11. Its not Islamophobia, its Islamorealism" "In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man. Defeat Jihad. Support Israel." The most recently submitted ad by anti-Muslim hate activist Pamela Geller's American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI) -- behind all of the ads above -- reads, "This is Islamic apartheid" followed by images of two blindfolded men about to be executed with the following caption, "Gay under Islamic law (Sharia)."
The incendiary transit advertisements may differ in wording but the message is undoubtedly uniform: hatred for Islam and against its adherents.

This unfortunate messaging has garnered considerable media attention while also culminating in First Amendment litigation in at least three distinct jurisdictions -- Washington, D.C., Detroit, Michigan and New York City -- when well-meaning transit authorities rejected the ads, citing likely stigmatic effects upon American Muslims in some instances and national security concerns in others.

Not always as prominently highlighted, however, is the larger U.S. community response rejecting the denigration of any faith group with messages underscoring the significance of peace and pluralism.

Consider, for instance, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency ("Muni") system's response to the ads. Its Chairman released a public statement condemning the ads as lacking "value in facilitating constructive dialogue or advancing the cause of peace and justice."

Moreover, Muni donated the ad proceeds to the San Francisco Human Rights Commission to further constructive educational activities, and in an unprecedented move, Muni placed its own counter-ads on San Francisco buses condemning the AFDI ads next to which they appeared.

Significantly, Muni's initiative set the bar that community advocates would request their respective transit officials to meet.

In addition to such official speech, perhaps the most innovative and arguably talked about response to AFDI's hate ads was a peaceful Twitter campaign, launched by American Muslims, with the hash tag "#MySubwayAd."

Representative tweets include:

"In NYC we speak 140 languages and hate isn't one of them."
"In any subway you ride, anywhere in the world, may it be a one way journey from fear to love and ignorance to light."

"We all are the same. Keep love going. Sofia, age 4."

"Hatred won't ever work as a solution, but it will always be a part of the problem. Don't fight hate with hate."

By launching such a campaign to counter the advertisements' hateful message, the minority Muslim community demonstrated courage and initiative while concurrently undermining entrenched stereotypes concerning Muslim anger, intolerance and violence. Further, Muslims employed "good speech" effectively in the proverbial marketplace of ideas to morally defeat a message of division and hate, engaging in an important process of self-empowerment and community education.
Finally, the interfaith response, by Christians and Jews alike, was nothing short of tremendous.

The Anti-Defamation League publicly characterized the "Savages" ad, for instance, as "offensive and inflammatory," while elaborating, "AFDI presents itself as a pro-Israel group. Our sense is that it's just a mischaracterization of who they are. They are an anti-Muslim activist group, and you don't have to be anti-Muslim to be pro-Israel."

Notably, Rabbis for Human Rights - North America and the Christian group Sojourners launched respective counter-ad campaigns. The ad by Rabbis for Human Rights, which ran near AFDI's ad, says, "In the choice between love and hate, choose love. Help stop bigotry against our Muslim neighbors." The Sojourners ad simply says, "Love your Muslim neighbors."

Both ads initially ran in NYC's subway system as did another counter-ad by another Christian group, United Methodist Women, which read, "Hate speech is not civilized. Support peace in word and deed."

Also in New York, the Commission of Human Rights worked to counter the anti-Muslim subway ads that tout the Big Apple's diversity. The billboard features a red apple with a map of the world that looks like bites. It reads: "From many countries, one city."

The interfaith initiatives are significant to strengthening community relationships and in rejecting the extremist messages of anti-hate groups domestically.

But the ripple effect has international consequence as well.

One of al Qaeda's greatest recruitment and propaganda tools is the assertion that the West is at war with Islam and Muslims -- an argument that is strengthened every day by those who suggest all Muslims are terrorists and all those practicing Islam are jeopardizing U.S. security. Interfaith and other community initiatives, such as those described above, directly undermine al Qaeda's false assertions.

Of course, none of this would have been possible without a community of good conscience committed in its stance against bigotry.

In truth, the censorship and suppression of objectionable hate speech is a natural knee-jerk reaction particularly by those targeted. But sometimes, the unintended consequence of such a response is the transformation of hate speech perpetrators like Pam Geller into victims of government censorship, deprived of one's First Amendment rights. Perversely, the perpetrator becomes the victim.

Perhaps, it is preferable to allow the hate advertisements to stand (no matter how painful and hurtful the message) while seizing the moment to educate. To this end, it bears noting that following the placement of the hate ads, FOX News was forced to disavow the subway initiative describing it as "inflammatory" and "anti-Muslim." This is remarkable because the anti-Muslims activists responsible for the placards are frequent favorites on the network. Arguably, the hate placards serve an educative purpose concerning the perverse values of those behind them.

Often, when Muslims in the U.S. reference "the community," they are alluding to fellow co-religionists. Perhaps there is a silver lining to the anti-Muslim hate ads: an opportunity to redefine the traditional parameters of that reference to encompass so many more.

The NY Post has a pretty good piece up on our new Islamic apartheid ads countering the Muslim blood libel currently running on NYC Metro train platforms. We are a pro-freedom group, a pro-America group -- so the description of our organization is not entirely accurate. I am glad the ads are getting this kind of exposure -- sunlight is the best disinfectant. People remain painfully unaware of the grotesque human rights abuses under Islamic law. Not for much longer. Pro-Israel group launches new 'Islamic apartheid' ad compaign Jennifer Fermino, NY Post, March 27, 2013

The pro-Israel group that called enemies of the Jewish state “savage” in subway ads will launch a new campaign to counteract pro-Palestinian billboards that were installed on Metro-North trains this week.

The new ads, paid for by the American Freedom Defense Initiative, feature disturbing images under the headline: “This is Islamic apartheid.”

One of the images shows two blindfolded men getting wrapped with nooses.

Below the image, it reads, “Gay under Islamic law (Sharia).”

The picture is from Iran, said Pamela Geller, head of the AFDI.

Another picture shows a woman dressed in a white burqa getting whipped above the words: “Under Islamic law rape victims are tortured or killed unless they agree to marry their rapist.”

Geller said that picture is from Indonesia.

She submitted the ads to the MTA yesterday.

It’s unclear when they will go up; her ads have been approved before.

The reference to apartheid is a direct rebuttal of the American Muslims for Palestine ad, which went up on Monday — the first day of Passover — in 25 MetroNorth stations.

Geller requested her ads be hung in the same stations, which include Fordham and 125th Street.

The pro-Palestinian ads read: “Americans give Israel $3 billion per year! End Apartheid now!”

A spokesman for the Muslim group said the ads were about reclaiming their heritage.

She also said it was a coincidence that they went up on Passover.

Geller blasted the Muslim ads as “blood libel.”

“A lie will go round the world while truth is pulling its boots on” she said in an email, paraphrasing the famous Winston Churchill quote.

All issue-based ads on MTA property feature a disclaimer that says the viewpoints expressed are not the agency’s.

Anne Bayefsky notes that "there were once an estimated 900,000 Jews" in the Muslim world, "but today there are less than a few thousand. They were given a choice: die, convert or flee." That's apartheid. The slaughter of gays across the Muslim world: that's apartheid. The persecution of Christians across the Muslim world: that's apartheid. Muslims are freer in Israel than in any Muslim country.

Refusing to call attention to the plight of gays under Islamic law is killing people.

The lead-in gives the impression that our ads are anti-gay, as if at first we targeted Muslims and now we're targeting gays. The enemedia in attack, deceive and demonize mode.We are trying to save lives while they are working furiously to sanitize and whitewash the ideology that commands the subjugation, oppression and death penalty for homosexuality.

"We reached out to Pamela Geller this morning and have not yet heard back"

So said the reporter on the story, Monte Francis. Not true and I tweeted at Monte Francis. He contacted me and said his producer sent me an email. I can assure you, he did not. We did a phone interview. I hope it makes it into the broadcast.

Theresa Sparks and the HRC should be standing with me against Muslim oppression of gays. Don't they care that their brothers and sisters are being victimized? Sparks' point about Iran is not an indication that Iran is some pluralist society -- just the opposite. Gays are pressured into sex changes as the only way they can be allowed to live in Iranian society, whether they want to or not.

The SF official reaction to my ads is obscene and absurd. They wouldn't condemn the hateful statements on the ads, even when specifically asked to do so. They're only condemning me for drawing attention to those statements -- as if this problem will go away if we ignore it.
