We bowled, we drank, we laughed, we cried, we ate lots of Mexican food. Although the Doritos Loco taco has been discontinued, we were treated to something far better…a Caruther’s original. Tito’s. The Al Pastor was amazing.

Although tacos are better from a truck, Dorito Locos are for the car ride home. Can’t get these things in the big city!

Happy Septennial, brothers!  Very excited to have everyone back in Santa Barbara tomorrow night.

The Rundown:

Friday- See you all (minus the ticket-buying LAGGERS… “Mr. Marsh, the category is ‘People Who Annoy You’”) at Soho tomorrow night for The Naked And Famous Show.  I haven’t heard back from the promoter about extra tickets, however we have arranged a Plan B for those who don’t have tix.  MoAP/MoAthletics will be kicking it outside of Soho early before the show in an effort to buy up any tickets that will hopefully get released.  Fingers crossed.  Shows at Soho never go until last call, so there will still be a couple hours to venture downtown after the show.  Worst case scenario, we link up with those who couldn’t get into the show downtown afterwards.

Saturday- The Septennial Meeting.

We will meet at the Turnpike IHOP at 10:45am.  I spoke with Manager Miguel this morning to confirm our reservation and to deliver a more precise headcount.  He responded by saying they were just about to go buy five cases of Adolphi… just in case you needed a reminder why we go there.

After meeting, we’re throwin’ rocks, then we’re rockin’ suits.

Then we’ll take Santa Barbara (well, at least OKR) by storm, and that’s pretty much that.

Sunday- Several ideas have been tossed around.  Rather than list them all here, I’m confident we can all come to a decision during Saturday’s meeting.

This month I will be endorsing a guest member for our 7th annual meeting. His name is Josh McBrayer, he hails from Birmingham Alabama, and roots for the Georgia Bulldogs. I feel Josh’s southern sensibilities will be a fine addition to our upcoming meeting, and he will uphold the strict ideals of the International Flapjack Society. See below.

Better late than never… Gents, It’s almost time to celebrate the 7th Anniversary of the birth of the International Flapjack Society.

From north to south, from east to west, from overseas we’ll (symbolically) come and gather in Santa Barbara the weekend of Friday December 16th, Saturday December 17th and Sunday December 18th.  Santa Barbara, tremble at our warning… we’ll return next month.

Friday Dec 16th

The Naked And Famous will be performing at Soho.  Early info suggests the show will begin at 9pm with TNAF to take the stage after an opening band or two.  Get your tickets at www.clubmercy.com

Now that we have set this weekend set in stone, let’s get on the ticket situation right away.  Head to the website and get yours so you’re not the guy without a ticket bugging me at the last minute to use my radio powers to “hook up a brah, brah.”  Soho is a very small venue and some TNAF videos on YouTube have upwards of 10 million views.  (Translation: This show will SELL OUT!  So get on it ASAP).

Saturday December 17th

Turnpike IHOP.  Where it all began.  It is a story of humble beginnings.  What most people use to wipe maple syrup from their mouths served as the initial canvas for the world’s strongest group of gentlemen.  Seven years later, we return to pay homage and grossly over-tip those who hosted our inception.

Leave it to me to make sure the banquet room will be reserved and the Adolphi: iced.

Sunday December 18th

I’m pretty sure this has been eluding us for many Anniversaries, but perhaps this is the year we suck it up on IFS Sunday and finally hit up Cold Springs Tavern for one of their famous tri-tip sammies.  With our track record, I’m not too optimistic that this will go down, but with some Saturday night B-12 in our system, maybe this is our year.   Maybe Theo Epstein will drive us there and pick up Albert Pujols on the way… Yeah, this is totally our year.

There’s the basics.  First thing’s first… get on those tickets asap… like now.
