Last Friday I had the pleasure of attending the new CINE AW '13 collection launch by plastic vegan shoe giant Melissa Shoes at their M Dreams Sydney store. The story itself smells exactly like the shoes - delicious candy sweetness with heels, boots and flats lined from every wall. I immediately got pulled into the hypnotic sparkle of the new J. Maskrey x Melissa flats. Encrusted with Swarovski crystals, they come in two versions: a normal jelly flat or jelly sandal - I prefer the latter. Definitely a shoe I'm putting on my wishlist, I decided to choose the deliciously feminine Jason Wu x Melissa lace 'ultragirl' flats for practicality, wearability and aesthetic chicness.

I also particularly loved their Spikes heel which not only are incredibly comfortable to wear (as all of their shoes are) but are so sexy and chic! If you haven't popped into the store yet, you must check it out if only to try on a few shoes and be surrounded by candy.

The last few days have been quite nerveracking and busy for me - going for job interviews and writing tests for a potential new job and I think in compensation for the stress and jitters I've been online window shopping a bit more than usual as of late.
I've been needing a new swimsuit for some time now - true I'm not really a huge fan of swimming but I do love the occasion dip; I've been eyeing this cute Wildfox floral ruffle one piece for some time now and finally went ahead and purchased it along with a few other floral and everyday dresses to add to my wardrobe.

For any long time readers of my blog or even recent ones will know of my obsession and love for anything floral, these include and are not limited to: fresh flowers (particularly peonies, roses, carnations, wildflowers), rococo/floral paintings, floral headpieces, dresses, skirts and rose tattoos. And a happy mother's day to all mums of the world - I made dinner and dessert for Mother Unicorn and treated Mama Unicorn and myself a spa treatment!

I can't wait to receive all these goodies and share them with you soon. What trends are you loving at the moment?

CHANEL Lesson of Elegance

Much to my delight I received a lovely package from Chanel revealing this cute little composition notebook featuring their Spring Summer '13 collection shot by the talented Karl Lagerfeld. Designed like an old composition notebook, this cute campaign brochure captures the essence of the new SS'13 collection titled Lesson of Elegance. The collection itself is made up of classic Chanel: monochromatic tweeds, diaphanous multi-coloured chiffon and richly embroidered florals are paired with bright accessories, setting the tone for the season with an airy energetic aesthetic and of course such elements of tweed, quilting and pearls play strongly throughout the collection - detailing of which has become synonomous with the brand. It's always a pleasure when I receive new campaign images and when it comes from Chanel - it's always such a beautifully crafted piece of art that I hang on to and keep on my bookshelf.

MBFWA - SHAKUHACHI CYBER BARBARELLA SS13/14

A show that definitely was a standout for me during last week's MBFWA was Shakuhachi's new spring summer 2013/14 collection titled Cyber Barbarella - where space age grunge and floaty feminine florals collide. A balanced mix between sports luxe metallic and perspex pieces alongside floral camisoles, neopreen dresses and figure hugging PU bustiers - Cyber Barbarella takes you on a whimsical journey through time and space and back again. Ever one for anything floral, feminine or shiny... can I just say I WANT EVERYTHING. This will be another collection that I will be jumping onto as soon as its released!

Cyber Barbarella is fun, flirty, feminine, strong, space-age grunge, floral fairytale goodness - it's probably a collection that perfectly represents my style and my love for seemingly two different 'trends' or styles; feminine and floral alongside my love for grunge and this collection shows it works so well together! Love love loved the collection and the show itself - congrats to Jessie White and team Little Hero!

MBFWA - KATE SYLVESTER SS13/14

Ladylike glamour oozed at the Kate Sylvester MBFWA Spring Summer 13/14 collection titled The Last Sitting where front rowers were treated with a signature baseball placed on top of a portrait of Marilyn Monroe alluding to the collections muses. The collection itself played with flirty fun summer dresses alongside a strong sharp masculinity in the more sports influenced leather pieces.
It is this sweet femininity and sporty masculinity that conveys the two sides of Marilyn's character which is successfully portrayed throughout the collection - and the laid back chic that has become synonomous with the label remains strong.

I found the collection fun, flirty, feminine while key leather pieces brought a tougher feel to the new collection; subtle pleating, beading and leather detailing embellishments while the styling created the perfect finishing touch to a strong cohesive collection.
