The last few days have been really exciting here at Making Memories. Some of our design team members were able to come and visit us at our offices in Utah. We had a lot of fun eating yummy dinners, training, and building friendships. It was great to have them here.

AND we have other exciting news. We are so happy that Wilna made the Two Peas Digital Creative Team. CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Guest Designer Cindy Liebel - Thank You Mini Book

Thanksgiving is in one week from today. Here is Cindy's last idea for Thanksgiving gifts to give to your loved ones.

To create these cute bags trim and adhere floral pattern paper and leaf journaling die-cut to paper bag. Add ribbon trim to hide the seams. Use the Slice to cut a 2" leave and embellish die-cut shape with metal rim tag with leaf die-cut and metal embellishment. Pop-dot off gift bag. For the tag, repeat same process, but cut die-cut out at 3" using cardstock and adding pattern paper to metal rim tag. Adorn with ribbon.

Today Wendy Bretz shares what she is thankful for.

The journaling says:

I can’t even begin to tell you how much you mean to me. You are there for me no matter how tired you are. You help me with Hannah even if you are busy. You take care of us when we are down. You show us unconditional love every single day. You run this household and keep everything together. You treat everyone with respect and show kindness even when you’re mad. To create this page, follow these instructions:

Print journaling on white cardstock
Add strip of Big Green Dot Patterned Paper
Using Slice and Mix & Mingle Design Card, cut out Forever title and adhere above patterned paper
Using Slice and Mistletoe Design Card, cut scalloped circles out and place in separate corners
Punch two circles out of Paperie Greenhouse Patterned Paper and place inside scalloped circles.
Using Slice and Just Chillin Design Card, cut out three butterflies and adhere them over circle.
Attach deco pins and small circle
Add flower blossoms and a crystal brad
To finish, add photo

Guest Designer Carol Sheetz

Today Carol Sheetz is Making Memories’ Guest Designer. Carol created some project using Making Memories Vintage Findings Collection.

Items Needed:

Vintage Findings paper: brown wallpaper, floral fabric, music edges and artisan die-cut dot.

Vintage Findings Embellishments: velvet flowers, metal embossed gold alpha, foil epoxy alpha in cream, tickets, label artisan labels, and flower pins.

To create this layout, follow these steps:

1. Cut various strips of paper, ink them, and sew them on background paper as shown.

2. Adhere photo to page.

3. Group various embellishments on the side of the page and adhere.

4. Use stamps or a black pen for journaling.

Carol also created some extra cards with Making Memories’ Vintage Findings to share with us.

Items Needed:

Vintage Findings paper: pink geometric and artisan die-cut dot

Vintage Findings embellishments: metallic embossed alphas in gold, paper shreds, paper flowers, and trims.

To create this card first cut your card base and adhere scraps of paper to fit the front of the card. Cut flowers from pink geometric paper and adhere to the card. Add embellishments as shown.

Items Needed:

Vintage Findings paper: music edges and artisan die-cut.

Vintage Findings Embellishments: trims, flower pins, tickets, foil epoxy alphas in cream, artisan labels and metal flower.

To create this card first cut your card base. Cut and chalk various pieces of Vintage Findings paper and adhere it to the card front. Adhere embellishments and trims and shown.

Today we are excited to have one of Making Memories’ Facebook Friends as our guest designer. Help me welcome Katherine Blue. She created a few projects to share.

I created a "Gratitude" box using Making Memories’ Autumn Splendor collection and flowers from the craft store. I wanted to display this box and the tags in a basket in my living room so my family and friends who are coming to visit for the holidays can enjoy it. I am going to have everyone write what they are thankful for on the back of the tags. That way, we can stay grounded and remember all of our blessings - the big and the small.

I started off by purchasing an inexpensive decoupage box from my local craft store and since I wanted a vintage feel and look to the box , I painted the box haphazardly using Making Memories Scrapbook Paints in manila, monarch, and sunflower paints.

I then decorated the inside of the box with patterned paper scraps from Making Memories' Autumn Splendor and Passport collections. I added my favorite family photo and the "family" metal embellishment from the Vintage Metal Family Copper combo pack.

Next I decorated the outside of the box using more Making Memories' paint, ephemera from the Vintage Findings Nature mini kit, ink, raffia, and floral picks from my local craft store.

For the tags, I decorated them with a variety of Making Memories' items from all the Vintage mini kits. You'll see items from the Nature, the Embossed Metallic Ephemera, Bienvenue collections, and for the pear tag, I went eco-friendly and used the packaging as the tag! For embellishments, I mixed the old and new product for an eclectic look.

Guest Designer Cindy Liebel - Thank You Mini Book

Today Making Memories' guest designer, Cindy Liebel, is showing us another project that you can give to someone to let them know you are thankful for them.

I used Making Memories 4"x 4" mini album with page protector page inserts. To create the mini book, I trimmed the cardstock to size and adhered it to the front of the mini book and wrapped it around to the back. Use the Slice to cut out "Thank You" and adhere to scallop pattern (front cover) and cut out 2" leaf.

For each page, I used the negative space, backed with coordinating cardstock and trimmed to fit. Select a variety of shapes to cut out using your Slice and a variety of pattern paper. Embellish with jewels or pearls.

Priceless Friends

One of the things that I am most thankful for in my life is all of my friends. I've wanted to do a layout about them for quite a while now. Since this time of year is one that reminds us to be thankful for things, it gave me the push to actually create the layout that I've been thinking about for so long. I love seeing all my friends lined up together on this layout. Only one of these girls is local to me. The rest of them are my online friends, but they've become such an important part of my life over the past few years.

1. Mat the apple pattern paper onto white cardstock and then yellow cardstock, and round all edges.

2. Crop photos in Photoshop, print, and arrange in a strip across layout. I cropped all mine to 2" x 3", printed them separately, and then adhered side by side.

3. Print out journaling directly onto orange cardstock, leaving room above for your title. Also cut a small strip to adhere under photos.

4. Adhere glitter letters for title directly above journaling.

5. Using the Slice, die-cut your subtitle from brown cardstock and tan cardstock. Layer together, adding mini pop dots to the top word for extra dimension.

6. Using the Slice, die cut some small flowers from vellum, crinkle, and adhere along with glitter chipboard flowers and glitter brads.

7. Staple a few ribbon pieces to corner of orange cardstock.

Kadee loves embellishments, vintage shabby chic things, layering, and inking edges. She used all three of these techniques on her cards. She provided the instructions so you can create these cards. Start with a standard sized card base made from cardstock (4 ¼ x 5 ½)
Adhere apple-patterned paper from the Making Memories' Autumn Splendor collection, after inking the edges. Using a sewing machine, straight stitch around the edge.
Layer a 2 inch striped patterned paper strip and 1-inch gingham patterned paper strip (from Autumn Splendor collection) near the middle of the card, after inking the edges. Straight stitch the edges.
Apply Making Memories jeweled decal near the middle of the card. Adhere glitter stem from the Autumn Splendor collection on top of the jeweled decal.
Cut a small slit in the side of the card and thread ribbon from the Making Memories Wedding collection through. Tie in a not on the front of the card.
Using a Making Memories circle journaling tag, create a tag by adhering it to piece of card stock and cutting it out. Apply a “thank you” rub on.
Tie tag to the ribbon using a piece of twine. Thread the twin through the button and tie in a bow.
Insert stick pin from Making Memories Vintage Findings collection.

Start with a 5x5 square card base made from cardstock.
Adhere striped patterned paper from the Making Memories Autumn Splendor collection to the bottom of the card, after inking the edges.
Layer a scalloped piece of Kraft cardstock near the top of the striped paper.
Using the Making Memories Slice cut out a sunflower shape from the Vintage Finding design card. Layer a circle onto the shape using patterned paper from the autumn splendor collection. Hand-stitch around the inner circle.
Adhere ticket from Vintage Findings collection to the right side of the circle. Adhere Making Memories glitter swirl and flower with brad center from Flea Market collection.
Print the words “Grateful For You” on cream cardstock and cut out. Ink edges and adhere to circle.
Adhere circle to the center of the card using foam dimensional adhesive.

Start with a standard sized card base made from cardstock (4 ¼ x 5 ½)
Adhere light blue patterned paper from the Making Memories Autumn Splendor collection. Layer a piece of cream cardstock on top. Zigzag stitch the edges using a sewing machine.
Cute down, shaped gingham print paper from the Autumn Splendor collection and adhere to the left side of the card.
Tie ribbon from the Making Memories wedding collection around the left side of the card. Tie a piece of twine around the knot and adhere a button on top. Insert metal flower from the Making Memories Vintage Findings collection.
Using a Making Memories circle journaling tag create a journaling spot by adhering it to brown cardstock and cutting it out. Adhere to the right side of the card using foam dimensional adhesive.
Glue metal “fall” sentiment from the Autumn Splendor collection to the front of the journaling spot.
Adhere glittered stem from the Autumn Splendor collection near the right side of the sentiment.
Apply 3 green rhinestones from the Making Memories Mistletoe collection just above the journaling spot.
