What a group at the Buker School! It may have been raining outside, but only sunny dispositions were found inside these friendly walls in Wenham, MA, with the third, fourth and fifth grades. Special thanks to the Buker School for inviting the Hamilton-Wenham Chronicle/WickedLocal.com - awesome article from reporter Stephanie Silverstein! The Buker School will be my last school visit of 2009, as I dive into a big project to bring our NECN Weather Team into High-Definition, for a transition you'll see on your TV January 18 (of course, as the kids know, my school visit videos here have been in HD for quite some time!). You'll still see me out and about, with updates on this page, ringing the bell for the Salvation Army, working with Globe Santa, and many other events through the holidays...then back into the classroom immediately following our HD conversion!

This group of sixth graders was on the ball! They already knew their stuff, from cloud types to airmasses and fronts. That really allowed us to have some fun and build on the knowledge they brought into the auditorium - thanks for a great time, guys!

An Interview with Four Olympians at the 28th Annual Boston Globe Ski & Snowboard Expo

I headed to the Boston Globe Ski and Snowboard Expo with the intention of stopping in briefly at the Vermont skiing media reception, representing my station, NECN. As a skier, you can imagine this meteorologist's excitement when I got the opportunity to meet and interview FOUR Olympians - Ross Powers (2002 Olympic gold medalist in the half-pipe and two time Olympian), Donna Weinbrecht (Olympic gold medalist in the mogul skiing event in 1992), Fuzz Feddersen (Olympic aerial skier extraordinaire who now showcases that talent as The Flying Ace All-Stars aerobatics extravaganza), and the one and only Ski Hall of Famer Tommy Moe (a double Olympic medal winner, downhill gold and Super G silver at Lillehammer, Norway, 1994)! What an amazing experience to meet these four friendly, warm, down-to-earth yet out-of-this-world talented athletes - I had to share it with you! I also took some time to catch up with representatives from a few of our New England ski resorts - including a stop at the Vermont Ski media reception. Here's what the folks I spoke with wanted to be sure to share with you, their beloved skiers and my beloved viewers! :)
