Bathrooms...now with working sinks!

We have been living for some months now without functional sinks in the bathrooms. Our toothbrushes have been next to the Brillo pad in the kitchen. It's a long story, one I will tell another day. Tonight I am just posting pics and some brief comments.

Then:

This is the view from the bathroom door/hallway into the second bath. There is a tub and a cabinet on the left side of room, that you can't see in this image. Those are plastic plants. Classy.

Now:

Obviously a gut renovation. It is hard to tell here, but we have moved the doorway opening to the right, closer to the wall where the sink and the toilet are in the before photo. This allowed us to put a big tub (72"x32"x21") on the long dimension of the room and add a door and walk-in closet on the left side. The vanity shares a wall with the entry door. We've done a 4" furr out for the vanity wall with green Italian glass tile. It is really beautiful tile--this picture doesn't do it justice. The mirror is flush mounted with the tile and grouted in. We've use the same tile in the master bath, but in orange. It is very modern, but with a retro feel, in keeping with the house.

Wow. We've been busy and haven't posted in so long. Sorry. Here's a quick update with some photos that are already almost old. Things are pretty much "done" around here with the exception of the bathrooms, at least the bathroom vanities. Here are some shots from a few weeks ago, right after the tile went up.

Above is the second bath. Yummy green Italian glass tile is up. Walnut cabinets are hung, but no cabinet doors yet, and the faucet trim and drain are not installed.

Here's a higher view. The sink is in, but not yet set. The blank space in the tile is where the mirror will be inset. We are mounting it like tile, so it will be set flush with the glass tile in mortar, just like one big tile.

Here's a view looking into the master bath from the bedroom. Yummy orange tile in here on the vanity wall, and another wall-hung walnut cabinet. Again, space for the mirror to be inset in the tile.

A view looking back from the shower towards the closet. Bedroom is through the door on the right. Although you can't really tell from this photo, the sink is BIG.

Here's a quick pic of our bedroom doorway looking into the hall. I know you can't tell much from the pic, but at least you can see the proportions.

By the way, although we don't have one yet, we do have a garden obsession... :)
