T-Mobile states on the 1st of July: As T-Mobile looks to further innovate and raise the bar for the next iteration of the T-Mobile Sidekick, as of July 2, the Sidekick LX and Sidekick 2008 will no longer be available through T-Mobile, including retail stores, care, telesales and online. While we work on the next chapter of our storied Sidekick franchise, T-Mobile will continue to provide our loyal Sidekick customers with product service and support. Stay tuned for exciting updates in the months ahead, which we expect will provide customers with a new and fresh experience.

MoBlog? (Texting and driving is Illegal in most decent states, it is dangerous and Oprah demands that you stop!)

What is moblog? Simple just as the name would imply its a mobile blog. Harnessing the power of Internet capable mobile devices such as PDA's, PSP, or the huge amount of digital phones. This area of the site is probably the most dynamic, whereas content is uploaded sometimes hourly or more. I use a web enabled phone to upload pictures and snarky comments right from my phone the instant they happen. In many ways it’s a mobile journal of my daily life activities and thoughts.

Then sometimes I drive! Basically the way it works is this: I get in traffic get up to about 80 MPH and reach for my sidekick II and blog. There are numerous spelling, grammar, and other errors, I apologize in advance for all the run on sentences and poor paragraph structure. If this offends you greatly, go deal... I am typing with two thumbs like a monkey all the while trying to dominate the left lane at 80+ mph...

After experimenting around with the sim card tray, attempting the various tape hacks out there I came to a conclusion, the hack is dangerous and unnecessary. I to date have had no "death grip" problems sim card issues or other phantom problems with my release version iPhone 4. I do however watch the techy blogosphere and have noticed various sim card hacks addressing a perceived short that occurs on the iPhone 4 micro sim tray.

While experimenting around with tape on the back, tape on the contacts, tape on the tray, I never saw a change in signal, no matter which location I took the phone no signal gain was noted. What I did notice which all should take pause and listen very carefully: The additional stress of the tape in various positions does put pressure on the bottom of the sim card, resulting in deep scratches along the bottom of the micro sim. This is not only dangerous, it actually destroyed my brand new, perfectly functioning iPhone 4. It now has sporadic sim failures, and massive signal issues. This means that even a small amount of clear tape may cause too much pressure on the not too forgiving sim contacts. I obviously bent my internal contacts to the point of inoperability.

I also noted while trying to undo the various taping in order to return my micro sim to it's virginal originality that the sim card tray itself on the iPhone 4 has a thin layer of rubberized coating on the perceived short area, so THE SHORTING MYTH IS COMPLETELY FALSE. If you would like to test this yourself, scratch at the area above the gold contacts on the left side of the indention and rubbery tearing will occur, revealing a shinier bottom.

After two new sim card attempts, I have concluded that I destroyed a $600.00 iPhone 4 with a piece or two of tape. Heed this warning would be tape hackers, the continual wear and tear of the sim card tray coming in and out while you adjust the tape can and will destroy your phone, void the warranty and demand replacement.

Water beetles rise to the water surface and take atmospheric air into their tracheal systems. There are approximately 2000 species of water beetles. The rest marine species tend to live in the intertidal zone. Water beetles are black, brown, or greenish and .08 to 1.57 inches long.

Many water beetles carry an air bubble underneath their abdomens, which both provides an air supply, and prevents water from getting into the spiracles. Others have the surface of their exoskeleton modified to form a plastron, or "physical gill", which permits direct gas exchange with the water. The hind legs are strong like the grasshoppers except it is not for jumping but for swimming. The wing covers are usually grooved on the female and smooth on the male. They have fringed hind legs with hair adapted for swimming. Adults hibernate in underwater soil during a good portion of the year. Water beetles are attracted to lights at night. Most families of water beetles have larvae that are also aquatic; many have aquatic larvae and terrestrial adults.

The genocidal racist Helen Thomas has again made anti-semitic statements of an amazing and disgusting degree. This ridiculous attempt at a columnist should immediately be fired from her job at Hearst media organization, be stripped of her White House press credentials, and be shunned as a Holocaust denying, exodus forcing, racist asshole that she is. The reality is the media is so comfortable with the worldwide antisemitic baseline leftist standard that this will all go away in a few days, with a few small heads placed in the sand. The excuse for this behavior will continue to be oh that Crazy old Helen Thomas... Thus the world again slowly emboldens the Syrian peoples whom refer to themselves as the mythological Palestinians, and another 4000 rockets will be fired upon innocent cities in Israel.

If this vulture remains up front and present in any form other than a passing fart in the White House press corp, you President Barack Hussein Obama, must also accept statements such as: Blacks should leave America, women shouldn't vote, Kenyans' should not hold the presidency, and other parody statements I am too angry to coin. I'm not through yet, you Oprah Winfrey must also accept this new reality as your magazine O is published by the same Hearst media group that is fully supporting this 90 year old racist relic that is Helen Thomas.

Israelis should "get the hell of Palestine." "Remember," Thomas said of the Palestinian people, "these people are occupied. And it's their land."
About four weeks ago we found a woolly bear caterpillar being used as a velcro hockey puck by our local feral kitty, and made rescue. After some great research and setup we placed him in a small enclosure with natural surroundings. We fed him a steady diet of collards, romaine, and spinach. I anxiously awaited the mothy Christmas to come! Being that our woolly bear was obviously in his late spring larval calorie gathering mode, I knew the time was short before we must wish her farewell. The caterpillar began feverishly building a cocoon three weeks ago, and was finished in 48 hours! After two weeks of waiting this gorgeous fully colored Leopard Moth appeared! I have resumed feeding her and nightly placing her outside to attract a mate, so we may keep the moth soap opera ongoing. updates may follow assuming my precious moth is not predated or willfully journeyed on her own.

*The Giant Leopard Moth or Eyed Tiger Moth (Hypercompe scribonia) is a moth of the family Arctiidae. It is distributed throughout the Southern and Eastern United States from New England to Mexico. The obsolete name Ecpantheria scribonia is still occasionally encountered.

This species has a wingspan of 3 inches (nearly 8 cm). The wings of this moth are bright white with a pattern of neat black blotches, some solid and some hollow. The abdomen is dark blue with orange markings, the male has a narrow yellow line on the sides. Its legs have black and white bands. Adult moths are rather strictly nocturnal and do not generally fly before nightfall (Fullard & Napoleone 2001).

The caterpillar is of the "Woolly Bear" kind, with a thick coat of black bristles (setae) and red bands between its segments which become conspicuous when caterpillar rolls into a ball for defense. It should not be touched, as its setae may break off and cause a rash.

It has been a long tradition of mine to dream journal and I have been lax in that subject matter for sometime. While this Melatonin encounter with the ether world was a brief one, I was left with the classic awakening that Cartman (South Park) coined best as the "awwww I'm nobody" dream sequence. This dream was one of those awesome tales of reaching the pinnacle of win only to be awaken by a snoring dog back to the reality of schmuckdom. These are the dreams that we can only equate to the almost having had a great sneeze, but it just didn't fully come to climax. The worst.

In this tidy little dream sequence I find myself at a soiree, dressed rather Bondish, the food seems to be the center and focus of my anxiety. There is a live sushi affair going on around a massive table display of sashimi/nigri pieces, and chefs feverishly rolling this and that. Not much else is apparent, in the cloudy way that dreams are I approach the dining. Standard party fare is the only sushi available, a travesty of California rolls and other fakery, I'm disappointed as I take a long draw off my Kirin IchiBan. I schmooze forth to find a chefs ear...

Upon reaching the rolling station a young man looked surprised as I looked on, wondering if there a spare urchin might be. I started making orders for really exotic, original kinds of rolls, and fresh. Urchings and flying fish and giant surf clam oh my! The news of this mighty request must have made it the nether region of the main kitchen and oft in the distance a large man came, the master chef hath summoned forth to see what all the skullduggery was about.

When the lights adjusted and he came forth it was the grand master Iron Chef his majesty, the great and mighty Morimoto! Yes that Morimoto, the main Morimoto, The Morimoto whom I hope to one day finally put an end to the red-headed shitbag scourge of humanity-menace that is Bobby Flay. In a gruff and rather austere manner, he spoke to the young man whom I had bothered so with my amplitude of requests. He then came forward and squared me, we talked sushi/sashimi/nigri/bird's nests/quail eggs back in forth like we were the gods of all that is raw consumption. In dream my brain was filled with ancient knowledge of tactics and rolling, I was an idea man! A sultan of sushi technology!

My rolls theory was wild and so out of scope; I was mixing culture/ingredients, I was unfolding a new recipe every few seconds. My brain was on fire! A French maki roll with blue fin tuna and frog legs, topped with an oyster mayonnaise. That was the topper, and it stopped him, and the "argument" dead in it's tracks. It was then decided that I was to become the official Morimoto engineer of maki, the head roll wizard was I. My life was complete! Together Morimoto and I rode off into the sunset together, our heads filled with a zest for new sushi, and a burning new quest to hunt and kill Bobby Flay with primitive weapons! Ahhhh... Then I woke up, 35 years old with a dog slobber-farting on my pillow and no life at all, damn you dreamworld why do you taunt me so?!

At some point he sat down to take a break and suddenly realized he couldn't control his hands, especially his left hand. He fell over and had to be helped back up as it became apparent that he couldn't use his arms to push himself back to his previous sitting position. After that, Shawn was rushed to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital's ER where he was given a CT scan and an MRI. The CT scan came back normal but the MRI seemed to reveal a bulging disk in his neck. Shawn was in a great deal of pain and by this point had no feeling in the entire left side of his body and only about 25% control over the right side of his body. I feel compelled to take a moment to express how impressed we were with everyone in the ER at Kennestone. Every single professional we came in contact with was caring, concerned and went out of their way to make sure we knew exactly what was going on and that we were comfortable while we waited for the latest updates.

Although Shawn did indeed have a bulging disk, we learned later that night after further diagnosis that he had Guillain-Barre syndrome and would immediately be admitted to the ICU as this was something much more serious than a bulging disk in his neck. While in the ER, Shawn had been complaining of having difficulty breathing. This made perfect sense given his new diagnosis as GBS is sometimes accompanied by this serious symptom.

On Thursday, May 20th, Shawn's breathing had become so difficult that he was sedated and placed on a respirator. His lungs were in good condition, however, the muscles surrounding them responsible for making the chest work properly had become weaker and weaker. He's now resting & recovering in the ICU at Kennestone now, where he will be for at least the next month. His care-givers there are among the best and we are just grateful for the quick diagnosis of GBS as the quicker the diagnosis and the quicker the treatment, the better the prognosis tends to be.

*Guillain–Barré syndrome (GBS) is an acute inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (AIDP), an autoimmune disorder affecting the peripheral nervous system, usually triggered by an acute infectious process. The syndrome was named after the French physicians Guillain, Barré and Strohl, who were the first to describe it in 1916. It is sometimes called Landry's paralysis, after the French physician who first described a variant of it in 1859. It is included in the wider group of peripheral neuropathies. There are several types of GBS, but unless otherwise stated, GBS refers to the most common form, AIDP. GBS is rare and has an incidence of 1 or 2 people per 100,000. It is frequently severe and usually exhibits as an ascending paralysis noted by weakness in the legs that spreads to the upper limbs and the face along with complete loss of deep tendon reflexes. With prompt treatment by plasmapheresis or intravenous immunoglobulins and supportive care, the majority of patients will regain full functional capacity. However, death may occur if severe pulmonary complications and autonomic nervous system problems are present. Guillain-Barré is one of the leading causes of non-trauma-induced paralysis in the world.

http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/shawnmcgill

Art filters do seem rather lame for the seasoned of Photoshoppers out there, however on board instant filtering is a boon to creativity and spontaneity that really is a fun retro activity. There is a certain satisfaction to heavy limitations on perfect outcomes birthing beautiful shots. The fact that the micro four thirds system is tiny also means many will actually carry these cameras around, and capture real shots unscripted with great frequency, some of the best shots are accidents and candid.

I drank a bottle of wine and took the E-P2 for an art filter test drive, I was pleasantly surprised at the speed and low light performance. I firstly noted the sturdy, heavy feel of the camera. This followed by a great loud shutter sound made for a true retro feel, top it off with the oversized cheezy neck strap and you are one camel hair jacket away from 70's awesome chic. I will continue testing the new firmware and update as the software improves. I was shooting the Lumix pancake style 20mm lens, and hope to score some retro glass soon for further exploration. Some great examples of the exciting new Micro Four Thirds format follow:

The E-P2 is a 12.3-megapixel interchangeable lens camera, and it blends the high-quality still images of a DSLR with High Definition (HD) video, stereo Linear PCM audio recording and in-camera creativity – all inside an ultra-portable, easy-to-use body. The E-P2 also brings a new twist to the PEN lineup: an accessory port which accommodates the included VF-2 electronic view finder or optional external microphone adapter (SEMA-1).
