project life 2012 // week not quite three

well. week three hasn't been put together. i've put all my notes together and they're coming with me on the plane to california so i can sort out week 3 and week 4 while i'm there. i'm hoping that will let me be ready to print + put together when i get home. with CHA los and learning how to make videos and trying to get things lined up so i can have some downtime with the family before i go.

instead, i've got a few things i've come across this week to share :

and my personal favorite? these two ROCKING stamps designed by kelly purkey for studio calico. (ETA : these have sold out, but will be restocked - they will likely be in mid monthish. i'll keep you updated.)

i will be using the HECK out of these. you can find them here (awesome) & here (epic).

happy friday!! it's reveal day for studio calico's february kit. i've got a book to read at preschool for sam's half birthday. i've got two pages to finish for cha. and a dinner date with a handsome man tonight. =) busy day!!

memory keeping monday : mitten thief

i was, i have to admit, TERRIFIED at the thought of making a video. especially start to finish. my pages are anything BUT start to finish. they're start, put this in, take that off, add this, stitch that, take something back off move it all around and THEN finish. but i *think* i came up with a way to make it work. even if you might notice elements disappearing and reappearing throughout the steps. ;) but hopefully it will give you a little insight into how i make my pages. i think a *lot* about layers when i scrap, and this video definitely illustrates that.

the gardeners' digest is a NEW monthly blog hop from the garden girls at two peas in a bucket. we'll be sharing what we're working on, what's inspiring us, and some of our favorite products each month. i'm looking forward to getting a little peek into all of the other garden girls' brains!

my first video for memory making mondays goes live TOMORROW MORNING. ack. i do love the page - and i hope you all enjoy the video, despite my nerves. i was jumpstarted by a cool inspiration piece and had fun layering pp, mist and washi to make the background.

i'm still hoping to finish up my december daily soon, and this spread by marie-pea stopped me in my tracks when i came across it on one of the 2peas pinterest boards. i love the colors, the big photo, the vellum over the photo - it's all so awesome! i've pinned it to my own december daily board so i have it for inspiration when i get back to my own album.

1) erica hernandez journaling cards. ADORE these for project life

2) american crafts zig zag border punch. LOVE. lovelove. i had another pinked border punch, but it wasn't a crisp triangle, the edges were rounded. you'll need the border punch starter kit to use this - it's currently sold out at 2peas, but has been reordered. as a scrapper w/ a small space, i totally appreciate how this system works.

3) studio calico veneer astericks. these are my go to embellishment to finish any page. love the size, love the warmth the wood adds.

4) amy tangerine day book tabs. they're a great punch of color on any project.

5) amy tangerine oh happy grey patterned paper. i refuse to admit how many sheets of this pp i've picked up.

project life 2012 // week 2 jan 7-13

week 2 // january 7-13th : as i was putting away my last pages from 2011, i stopped and looked through my second album. and found that what caught me the most was the little stories, quotes and anecdotes. i kept that in mind as i was planning out my week.

i may have snuck a few of the new studio calico stamps into my spread this week. i couldn't resist them. there are so many that will be perfect for my album!

i love my cameo. i can buy a submarine shape & cut it out when the whim strikes. perfect.

when i put this together, i forgot about the portal card that alex had drawn. i found it when i was cleaning up, picked the least important journaling card, and swapped it out. and when i took the photo of ben, i was planning to include it for the week - so i made sure to frame it in a way that i'd have lots of white space to add the story.

i didn't have a lot of extra time this week, so i kept things fairly simple. i did sneak in some little accents like the handcut banners and the 3 boys diecut.

kid written journaling cards are my favorite.

i made the misty circles to echo the look of a watercolor set... then just added a whole lot of color here and there. it doesn't really match, it's not really orderly - totally perfect for the subject at hand!

i'm slowly starting to pull things together for my project life title page. not sure when i'll get it made, but at least collecting is forward motion? (stamp is custom made from a sketch of my house done by my amazing friend denise. best gift EVER)

and these badges will totally be making an appearance. i asked my sweet friend marcy if she'd make me a t5, and she rocked it. love. i picked up some of her other badges, too. the stickers + washi were a recent etsy purchase, and the paper is neeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwww studio calico, and kind of has me weak in the knees.
