... they do not want you to know this but... you can extend the life of your Cricut mats with a little soap and water! Mat has lost its stickiness? Paper slides around? Use a little soap and warm water and gently wash your mat and let it air dry. Do not dry with a towel or you will add lint and dust to your clean mat. Once dry, you are back in business.
Many cricut users like to use baby wipes to "clean" their mats but I find that there is a chance of residue or moisture messing up the next paper I put on the mat. I like to use a lint roller...yes a lint roller...to clean my mats. Easy, no mess no fuss and you will be amazed at how much "lint" you will get off your mats.

Remember to flip your mat around...use either end to feed into the Cricut first. And the simplest tip of all...keep the cat away from your Cricut mats...no seriously, make sure that you keep the clear cover clean and free from hair and lint and replace as soon as you are finished with the mat.

I have been searching and playing with the "outlaw" software programs to step up my Cricut. I have read all the messages and reviews that I could find. I have tried Sure Cuts Alot (up until recently the only game in town if you did not want to use Cricut cartridges) but honestly until now it was just tooo much work for me to go outside of my Design Studio. The program was there but soooo clumsy (in my opinion) and I could do almost (yes almost) everything I wanted in Design Studio. And I am not a super risky dare devil kind of girl. So... I was content to follow the Provo Craft rules..that is until NOW. I am going rogue here and telling you ... I am ready to break the rules because Make the Cut is that cool! Now before you follow me to the dark side I have to tell you the possible risks.... using this software makes Provo Craft mad...really mad ... and they will void your warranty on your Cricut. I am not certain how the software can hurt your Cricut, how Provo Craft will know you violated your Cricut, how much longer your warranty is on your Cricut... but I just feel that I must let you know that this is breaking the Provo Craft rules...if that matters to you.

Why is this so cool? It let's you cut fonts and images that you have on your computer...no cartridges needed! I am offering my first class on Make the Cut software and the Cricut in FEBRUARY! Try the freedownload and see what you think: Make the Cut Trial The free trial lets you design all you want ...it will cut with a wonky water mark that kind of messes up your design but try before you buy is always a good idea. You can take the class with the trial version and see what you think...after you are in love you can purchase the full version of Make the Cut .. Just in time for Valentines Day cards ... Mothers Day and Graduation ideas! The 5 week class will feature many projects and all the basics from loading your software and making sure your Cricut can "talk" to your computer. Well...many of you might be thinking why do I need your class? There are tutorials and free videos and lots of free ideas. Why should I pay for a class? Yup there are. But...more than just a bunch of tutorials, I will hold your hand and answer your questions while we explore this powerful software add on to your Cricut. Some of my students have said that taking classes like mine have made the process so much easier and they actually are able to take advantage of the free stuff that is out there because they have a strong basic knowledge of their Cricut and the software like Design Studio and now Make the Cut.

Hugs, Cara

I just arrived home from my Croptopia Getaways scrapbooking cruise. My kids (I have told you all about them) decided to makeover my wretched bedroom. It used to be horrid...half painted with a pile of tiles waiting to be installed...piles of boxes from different times, kids clothes..it was a catch all and I simply closed the door in the morning and took care of other more important rooms. Well they decided that we needed a make over and while we were away they sure did... top to bottom. Brand new flooring replaced my half tiled floor, newly painted walls and celing, new bedding, new closet... and then surprised us when we returned and caught the whole thing on tape. It is just like on the t v make over shows. They are awesome! and it was such an amazing homecoming. I am truly blessed and I just had to share :)
This is my reaction:
And here is the room!
