The Association will conduct its Annual Meeting on Thursday, October 21st, 2010 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. We will hold the meeting at the Mustang Library, the same location as last year: 10101 N. 90th Street, Scottsdale, AZ 85258.

Thinking back, it is not too difficult to remember the excitement and liberation that came with obtaining a driver’s license. As exciting as this new freedom may be for a teen, studies have shown that the first six months after obtaining a license is the most dangerous period of time for any driver. Sadly, automobile accidents are more common among young drivers than any other age group...

According to the Arizona Affiliate of the Partnership for a Drug-Free America, kids are more likely to experiment with drugs due to boredom, spending time with friends who use drugs or too much unsupervised time throughout the summer months. In June and July alone, there was a startling 40 percent increase nationally in the number of youth who tried marijuana for the first time compared to the rest of the year. Even though we are through the summer months, we still need to be diligent about the dangers affecting our kids.......

PIMA ACRES PROPERTY OWNERS ASSOCIATION

Dear Property Owner,

If you are interested in running for a seat on the Board of Directors for the Pima Acres Property Owners Association, please submit your name, along with a brief biography to John Herrick, 8846 East Havasupai Drive, Scottsdale, AZ 85255 or by e-mail at

jrherrick@mac.com by 12:00 noon on Monday, October 19^th, 2009.

Every name that is submitted will appear on the ballot.

We encourage you to take an active part in our community and run for a seat on the Board. If you are unable to serve on the Board, please be sure to attend the Annual Meeting set for Thursday, October 22nd, 2009 beginning at 6:00 PM to last approximately 1 ½ hours at the Mustang Library, 10101 N. 90^th Street in Scottsdale. Your participation at this meeting is very important.

In our last communication to the PAPOA Home Owners we stated that we were hoping to have the new proposed CC&R’s, Bylaws and Guidelines out to all of you by August. This project is 95% complete with just a few minor areas still to address before we present them to you.

We should be able to have a “Hard Copy” of these documents out for you to review before our annual meeting on October 22^nd.

A representative from our Law Firm, Carpenter, Hazelwood, Delgado & Wood, PLC., will attend our meeting to answer any questions regarding our CC&R, Bylaws and Guideline proposal.

2008 – 2009 Board of Director Highlights

*Improve the Hualapai and Sierra Pinta Entrance Area

*Continue working with the City of Scottsdale on the monument lighting & landscaping

*Complete plans with the City of Scottsdale for landscape improvement and maintenance

of the City owned property on the east side of the Hualapai entrance monument

*Continue tracking & follow up with City of Scottsdale on the City & DC Ranch flood control project

*Monitor the results of the flood control project after completion to be sure the design meets the needs of Pima Acres

*Considering publishing a periodic newsletter – possible e-mail via Web Site

*Consolidate and Update the CC&R’s and Design Guidelines

*A draft copy of the CC&R’s and Design Guidelines, with a request for comments, will be provided well in advance of the 2009 HOA meeting

*Complete the project to combine and update the CC&R’s and Design Guidelines to provide one set of rules and meet property owner’s wishes and current state laws

*Continue monitoring the City of Scottsdale Project to add Cell Sites in the area

*Monitor cell provider and City site selection process and keep area property owners informed

2009 – 2010 Board of Director Work in Progress

*Finalize the new set of Amended and Restated Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions for Pima Acres, Amended and Restated Bylaws, and Amended and Restated Design Guidelines to bring them up to date with current Laws & Regulations.

*Continue tracking & follow up with City of Scottsdale on the City, DC Ranch and Grayhawk flood control project.

*Improve and increase PAPOA Home Owner E-Mail listing.

*Continue monitoring the City of Scottsdale and New Path Networks Project to add Cell Sites in the area.

*Monitor and work with Banks on foreclosed homes.

*Continue enforcement of CC&R’s – work with home owners for compliance.

*Continue working with and monitoring new home construction.

*Work with City of Scottsdale to improve the Hualapai and Sierra Pinta entrance area.

*Continue working with the City of Scottsdale on the monument lighting & landscaping.

*Complete plans with the City of Scottsdale for landscape improvement and maintenance of the City owned property on the East side of the Hualapai entrance monument.

*Negotiate and reward landscape contract for quarterly, or as needed, PAPOA street trash clean up.
