iPads are taking education by storm! Schools across the nation are embracing mini-computing as an affordable technology alternative in a variety of settings. Locally, many of you in Rock Island, Bureau, Henry and Mercer counties have received iPads, both last year and this, through creative grant initiatives.
iPad Forum 4:00-5:00 pm
During the first hour of the evening, educators who have ayear of experience with this new academic tool will share what management practices worked and what didn’t. This open forum will provide all attendees the opportunity to learn successful tips for a one-iPad classroom to a school with multiple iPad charging stations. Share your learning experiences, suggestions and expectations for the coming school year.

ePublishing--Staff
from Carbon Cliff-Barstow School District will demonstrate how to create amazing books using iBooks Author. This free app allows users to create multi-dimensional, interactive stories, textbooks, and
more. Learn a few of the basics to take back to your classroom. You and your students can start publishing your own books and curriculum in a snap!
Implementing iPads—Do
you have a set of iPads in your classroom or school? Are you looking for solutions to managing
apps, users, permissions, etc.? Come learn what new options are available for an individual classroom or for district level management.
Look for more information on the RICE Mini Session scheduled for Sept. 18 at ROE Moline.
4:00 - 5:00 PM - Join Tim, CC Staff, and Jerry in an iPad Forum to take a look back at the past year and what worked, and what didn't work as well as what still needs solutions.

All committee members who plan to be at the event must sign up through this process. STEM Conference in QC Area
The Illinois Math and Science Academy will be hosting a Community STEM Conference on Tuesday January 24, 2012 (5-7 pm) at the Rock Island Center for Math and Sciences (a RISD41 grade school). This conference is open to students of all ages, educators and community members. Anyone from throughout the Quad Cities greater area is welcome to attend. IMSA is seeking presenters and attendees for this event.
In addition, Nicole Hoffman (Field Office Coordinator) at IMSA is seeking a middle to senior high school aged student to work with her on the Cool Hub as a presentation at our SIT Conference. Quad Cities area Students Involved with Technology Conference
The first annual QC SIT Conference will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2012 at Glenview Middle School in East Moline. This unique all day technology conference is for students and presented by students. Visit http://www.sitconference.org
Students Involved with Technology Conferences have been happening around the state of Illinois for more than a dozen years. This is the first time it has been brought to the greater Quad Cities area. The conference is open for all to attend, regardless of the community in which you live. We are seeking student presenters, adult mentors, student attendees and volunteers. Since this is our first of many SIT conferences, seating is limited to the first 150 students who register.
Pease help spread the word to your local educational community and personal networks (churches, scouting, clubs, businesses, etc.).
