Dessert. I'm not talking pumpkin pie here! To show her just how thankful you are, turn the special day into something much more. Transform your bathtub into a personal spa for two and pamper her every step of the way. Heat up some sensual oils to just the right temperature and relax her worries away while lighting some fires. Sweep her off her feet by creating a private dance floor in the living room. Slow music only! Use your imagination and have some fun. The only real turkey on Thanksgiving is the guy who doesn't explore the romantic possibilities!

There's no reason to miss out on Thanksgiving when it's just the two of you. Scale back the feast, don't cut corners on the dessert and you'll find the holiday and its traditions are delectable no matter the number of place settings at the table.

If you’ve been reading my words for a while, you know that we’re coming up on one of my most favorite holidays for romance. Yes, I do mean Halloween!

Each year around this time, I go on a personal crusade to show just how romantic this particular night can actually be. I know, I know, you probably don’t believe me. Halloween, after all, is about dressing up, having fun and getting treats, right? Precisely!

Turn the tables on the kids’ holiday and make it yours. When you transform Halloween into a romantic adventure, your lady will never see it coming. That’s what makes it so special. Being romantic on Thanksgiving is easy. Christmas is a given. Halloween takes a little work.

So, what do I suggest to first-time Halloween romancers? How about sending your sweetie on a Halloween treasure hunt? To pull it off try these things:

Pick out a few treats – Start out by selecting the treats you’ll give your sexy trick-or-treater. Think jewelry, champagne, a sleek gift basket with gourmet candy for her more grownup tastes and perhaps a surprise or two hidden in your dining room, along with a candlelit dinner, or in your boudoir.

Set the stage – You’ll want to hide your “treats” in places throughout your home. I suggest leaving one item right inside your front door with a clue attached to help your sweetie find the next treat. Disburse the treats throughout your home with clues to the next one. Be sure to hide the biggest treat well in the room you want as your final destination (either the dining room for a romantic dinner for two or the boudoir - if your relationship has progressed this far.

To give the party a little extra zing and pizzazz make a contest out of the costumes themselves. When guests arrive, give them a ballot. Let them vote on their favorites. Before the evening winds down, tally the numbers and hand out prizes to the top three partygoers. Ideas for prizes include Halloween themed decorations, gift baskets and even a bottle of fine spirits in keeping with the season.

Hosting a costumed Halloween party is a great way for adults to get into the season. The effort does not have to take a ton of time, money or work to really pull off. Keep it simple by planning things ahead and taking shortcuts so personal enjoyment is also ensured.

While costume parties, horror movie nights and playful bantering between couples makes for the stuff adults revel in during the Halloween season, from dusk to about 9 p.m. on "the night" belongs to the little ones. Don't despair though. This provides the perfect opportunity for a sweet, romantic night among couples.

The first priority on this night of ghosts, goblins and little witches must be the kids. It's their night. Whether you have some of your own, she does, or you just want to be good neighbors taking part in the festivities, view the traditional hours of trick-or-treating as sacred and she's going to see your sensitive side. (Trust me guys, it is manly to show this side off once in a while!)

Pick up dinner. Halloween is not the night for cooking. Between the doorbell ringing and all the scary visitors at hand, a meal can burn in nothing flat. Offer to pick up dinner for her instead.

Set out front-row seats. My favorite way to enjoy the season is to put out two lawn chairs in the front, light up the jack-o-lanterns and just hold hands while taking in the show the kids are sure to provide.

Make it a little scary. One year, my girlfriend and I dressed up in Dracula and Mrs. Drac and did our part to scare the big kids. We toned it down a lot when the smaller children came knocking. We had a blast and the costumes turned out to be a whole lot of fun a few hours later. (Wink!)

Halloween isn't just about wine, spirits and parties for the adults. Sometimes the most romantic and fun evening can come out of simply taking in the sights the real stars of the holiday provide!
