Vionic City Walk

What I really like is the footbed. You get solid arch support and a nice deep heel cup, which is something you just don’t find in most low-profile sneakers. Even though the style is sleek and minimalist, the comfort is very real. There’s also plenty of room in the toe box, which means less pressure on your forefoot—and even space if you prefer a chunkier orthotic, though I find the built-in footbed supportive enough on its own.

Vionic City Walk

The shape is especially friendly if you deal with bunions: it’s rounded, not narrow through the midfoot, and roomy where you need it most. The outsole is stiffer than your typical fashion sneaker, which is great if you have hallux rigidus or big-toe arthritis, because it doesn’t bend easily and helps protect that joint.

Ros Hommerson Naomi Mary Jane Review: More Support than Rothy's and Vivaia

I can’t disagree with the fact the both Rothy’s and Vivaia have perfected the stylish mary jane with sleek silhouettes and eye-catching colors and patterns. The added benefit of throwing them in the washing machine adds to their appeal. But overall, I’ve felt disappointed by their lack of arch support and toe room (with exception of the Rothy’s clog).

When I first saw these Ros Hommerson cuties pop up on my screen, I knew I had to try them. The fabric stretch upper is similar to Rothy’s and Vivaia, but the noticeable difference is the enhanced arch support. Plus, the footbed is removable if you prefer to add your own orthotic.

The Ros Hommerson Naomi also features a square toe box that accommodates a wider forefoot and bunions.

If you prefer flexible footwear, you’ll love the Naomi mary jane, but I wouldn’t recommend these for hallux rigidus.

Are your feet hard to fit? Good news! The Naomi comes in extended sizes and widths (as well as stripes, solids and patterns).

I had an honest look at my shoe closet the other day and picked out my three favorites of summer 2026. I haven’t abandoned my Topo Atmos for daily walks, or my soft footbed Birkenstock Arizonas as my kick-around house shoes, but these three deserve much-earned praise.

Ugg Goldenstar platform sandal: I wore these all over downtown Indy for a conference in June. Finding an all-day casual sandal that supports the arches, cushions the heel and envelopes the bunions is a total win–plus they look slightly nicer than Keens! The “Golden” line of Ugg footwear features clogs, shoes and sandals all with the same supportive footbed. Find a pair in sizes 5-12, medium width for $75-120 from Ugg, Zappos & Amazon.

2. Hoka Solimar sneakers: I’ve tried the Bondi and other thicker-soled Hokas, but prefer a more connected-to-the-ground feeling, especially at the gym for weights classes and Zumba. The Solimar features a 4mm heel to toe drop, decent arch support, and a wide-enough toe box without looking like a clown shoe. 3. Project Cloud Emilee: As state in the video, these easy, breezy MJs are not for long-term wear–especially if you have severe RA. I first spotted them on a friend’s feet at a wedding shower. They’re a perfect casual dress shoe for such occasions and go with just about everything. I find myself choosing them for church and out to dinner when my toes aren’t pedicured. Diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis as a middle school teacher in my late 20s, the pain in my feet became unbearable and so did walking the aisles checking homework, pacing while I taught lessons, and standing in the hall while the kids entered the classroom.
