I wish I could learn to surf the rough, Pacific Ocean waves. I wish I could feel the freezing water rush into my wet suit as I begin to paddle, reaching as far as I can to push the rocky shore behind me. Out in the surf, I would feel as free as a dolphin in the ocean, happily swimming here and there with no knowledge of time, stress free. The smell of the salty air all around me, the gritty water on my lips, and the slippery surf board beneath me threatening to let me slip off with every rock of the waves all make me feel so alive. I wish I could feel the adrenaline of catching a wave and riding it to the shore until the tide sneakily tries to pull me back, like when an airplane lands on the runway and the feeling of weightlessness rushes back to you all at once. Sadly, I am a terrible swimmer and will never get to feel the wave of emotions that I wish I could; I am like a fish in a small glass bowl, wishing to feel the cold, salty water of the ocean.
