Athough the weather looked threating, a large crowd was on hand to watch the races featuring Smiley Sitton's Sprint Series of Texas at Boyd Raceway Friday night. Twenty SST Sprints started the 20-lap feature. Kenny Venable, No. 59, worked his way to the front and appeared to have this one, but with two laps to go, he got into some lap traffic that allowed Raven Culp, No. 3, to pass him on the outside coming out of turn 2, to take the win. Dustin Woods, No. 00, was third. The next scheduled SST event is May 25 at Heart O' Texas Speedway in Waco.

IMCA Modified Winner: Last week's feature winner Eric Winnett, No. 21, worked his way to the front to take the IMCA Modified feature. William Gould, No. 60, was second, hard charger award to Sam Cox, No. 3, for third, Nicholas Littlejohn, No. 51, was fourth and Ralph King, No. 5, was fifth. Abilene's Tommy Fain, No. 90, was sixth.

IMCA SportMod Winner: Former champion Dean Abbey, No. 26, in a new car, took to the front for the win. Gabe Tucker, No. 95, was second, Extreme Graphics Brad Shirley, No. 00, was third, J.C. Howel, No. 103, was fourth and Jeffery Abbey, No. 37, was fifth. Remaining order: No. 9, No. 43, No. 94, No. 316 and No. 21f.

Brad Shirley had a strong showing.

IMCA Hobby Stock winner: A. Phillips, No. 42, was the feature winner. No. 43, was second, J. Skinner, No. 21, was third and No. 0, was fourth.

Legend Mods: No. 308, No. 00, No. 18, No. 22 and No. 4.

Abilene's Tommy fain was in the house.

Some awesome weather was in the area.

A large crowd was on hand to watch the races.

William Gould grinds out a Modified win at 85 Speedways IMCA Lone Star Series

85 Speedway (Ennis)
May 12 (Sunday)

Roger Archer's 85 Speedway hosted the seventh leg of the IMCA Lone Star Series Sunday night. There were three classes of cars, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Southern SportMods and Bombers, competing for points and price money. In the IMCA Modified feature, current IMCA Modified points leader William Gould, No. 60, looked like he was on his way to an easy win, when the race turned into a Modified Marathon.

Roy Caps car went off the back straight.

IMCA Modified Winner: It was a classic battle between William Gould, No. 60, and former IMCA Champion Keith White, No. 1. Keith actually passed William a couple of times, but a caution would come out and they would revert back to their starting positions. After the dust settled, William Gould managed to hold off Keith White for the win. J. Gober, No. 52, was third, B. Ketteman, No. 601, in Gould's backup car, was fourth and J. Spillman, No. 444, was fifth.

Several Modifieds were involved in a wreck during the feature.

IMCA SportMod Winner: G.W. Egbert, No. 717, was the feature winner. A. Hickham, No. 94, was second, G.Tucker, No. 95, was third, A McCall Jr., No. 7m, was fourth and J.Freeman, No. 21f, was fifth. Dean Abbey, No. 42, was DQ for rough driving.

Bomber Winner: Kenny Garrett, No. 50, 85 Speedways Saturday night's feature winner, won the feature Sunday also. J. Lowery, No. 46, was second, K. Wilkins, No. 7, was third, R. Howell, No. 037, was fourth and P. Powers, No. 4, was fifth.
