Mary Glenn and David’s wedding vision was coastal Southern elegance rooted deeply in place and personal meaning. Every detail felt intentional and personal rather than trend-driven — from the crisp white sailcloth tent set on the lawn of historic downtown Edenton, to the simple sculptural florals, to the custom monogrammed stationery suite that carried their compass rose motif throughout the entire weekend. The overall feeling was airy, joyful, and deeply Southern — the kind of celebration that could only have happened in this exact town, with these exact people. Mary Glenn’s childhood church, a historic brick chapel with a soaring steeple tucked among the trees of downtown Edenton, was the most perfect backdrop for the beginning of a marriage. As we walked up to the church, she commented about climbing some of the trees as a child and memories from coming to church with her friends and family.

The silhouette was timeless and architectural — a fitted lace bodice with a dramatic cathedral veil that pooled behind her like something from a dream. It was elegant, classic, and utterly her. For the reception, she changed into a white feathered mini dress that had the entire dance floor buzzing.

The reception tent featured white orchid centerpieces in simple glass vases, lush tropical greenery, and dramatic arrangements that felt fresh and coastal without being overdone. The ceremony church was adorned with lush greenery and blush rose garlands that framed the historic arched doorway beautifully. The sailcloth tent itself — open-sided with warm wooden poles, white lantern chandeliers, and striped green and white linens by Stradley Davidson — created an atmosphere that felt like a garden party at its most refined.

One of the most meaningful moments of the entire day was Mary Glenn getting ready at her childhood best friend’s grandmother’s home — a place filled with decades of friendship, laughter, and love. Before slipping into her gown, she snuck over with her girls to see the reception tent for the first time, fully set and glowing on the downtown lawn. Starting the wedding day surrounded by that kind of history and friendship set the tone for everything that followed.

Mary Glenn and David were so fully present on their wedding day that all of their couple portraits — every single one — were captured in under ten minutes total. Rather than stepping away from their guests for an extended portrait session, the two of them simply walked hand-in-hand through the streets of Edenton after the ceremony, completely in their own world. The result is some of the most authentic, joyful wedding portraits imaginable — because they weren’t performing for the camera. They were just in love, in the town where she grew up.

We wanted our wedding to be an incredible experience for our guests from start to finish. It meant so much to us to have our friends and family travel all the way to California to celebrate with us, and we wanted to thank them for that. From custom welcome bags upon hotel check-in to our Lux Dugout Club concession stand of late-night ballpark bites at the reception, we tried to think about guest experience & personalized details of our love story throughout every aspect of the day.

We originally met in preschool, but growing up in the same hometown, our paths crossed throughout childhood. We attended the same elementary school and then continued to different middle schools and cross-town rival high schools. Our extended friend groups ran in the same circles, so we always found ourselves at the same sporting events, beach days & events around town. We were living in Arizona for spring training,g and Gavin had planned for us to go to dinner with another baseball couple. He instead took me to Heritage Square in Central Phoenix, where he had staged a hidden photographer to capture the proposal. All of our parents were in town visiting u, on an annual spring training trip, so following the proposal, we went back to our condo rooftop to take a few photos and celebrate with our families. When we got back to the rooftop, Gavin surprised me and had flown in all of our close friends from Wisconsin to celebrate with us with an impromptu engagement party. It was a perfect day as we had our intimate proposal followed by a night of surprise celebrations with the ones we love most!

The Clarins gown by Milla Nova was the perfect blend of elegance and modern structure with delicate beading and a long-sleeved lace turtleneck bodice. A voluminous mikado skirt gives it that dramatic princess silhouette. The design balances intricate detailing with clean lines—creating a look that feels both timeless and fashion-forward.

For the first course, guests enjoyed a baby spinach salad with roasted butternut squash. Grilled prime filet mignon with a creamy Yukon puree stole the show, followed by molten chocolate purse with whipped cream and raspberries. The bar featured a “Luxarita” as well as a Wisconsin Old Fashioned. Late-night treats paid homage to baseball fare with handheld ball park favorites and double bubble.

About 7 months after booking our venue, Gavin was traded from the Dodgers to the Reds, causing us to move across the country. This is when I knew finding an incredible wedding planner and team of vendors would be even more important. My mom and I had a blast spending hours on end scrolling through Pinterest and picking the perfect team to bring my dream wedding to life. We worked alongside the incredible Details team, led by Jeannie Savage, to find the perfect collaboration of my ideas and wishlists with her professionalism and experience in the wedding space. We took a few trips out to California for tastings, design meetings, and more, and had so much fun curating every minute of the day together.

But the real MVP moment? The reception. From emotional speeches honoring their journey from childhood friends to husband and wife, to a packed dance floor — complete with Freddie Freeman doing the worm — the night was a perfect blend of heartfelt and unforgettable.[/field]

As any normal Wisconsin resident would agree, when you book an outdoor wedding in Southern California, you pretty much expect a sunny, 70-degree day. Unless an atmospheric river system hits the area, bringing in record-setting rain for the first time in months. So, I did what any sane bride does and rush-ordered 200 clear umbrellas from Amazon to be delivered to the hotel… Much to the stress of my planner and the entire staff at the hotel, I was adamant that our plan A, B, C, and all included an outdoor ceremony, even if it meant no chairs, music, sound system, florals, and the list goes on. The venue was too beautiful, even on a rainy day, to move the ceremony indoors. On the morning of the wedding, I woke up and opened the curtains in the bridal suite to a downpour and was assured by everyone I crossed paths with that “rain on your wedding day is good luck!” The flood-worthy rain continued all morning, and our incredible team of vendors worked in the horrible conditions,s still setting up the most gorgeous ceremony. We spent the early afternoon taking photos inside the hotel, and just as my bridesmaids and I were set to “go into hiding” so arriving guests wouldn’t see me, the sun started to peek out. I remember my mom and maid of honor going to look out the window and tearing up, telling me the news. Thirty minutes before our ceremony was set to begin, the skies cleared and the hotel staff rushed to put out dry chairs, mop up the sidewalks,s and set up the sound systems. I’ll never forget the way I felt as the sun started to shine right onto my face as I stood at the top of the aisle, listening to the music start and the processional begin. The sun came out at the perfect time, and we knew our many angels above were shining down on us,s making our day even more special. Although I can’t say the weather forecast didn’t bring some stress and tears, I know everything happens for a reason, and that rain had a way of making our sunny ceremony even more memorable.

[field title=”Special Detail #2″]The wedding day truly exceeded every expectation we had set for it…and those expectations were high. The feelings of joy & love were overwhelming from the second the weekend kicked off. The day was filled with so many happy tears, leaving us wishing it would never end. [/field]

We honeymooned at the beautiful Four Seasons Maui and never wanted to leave. The most memorable part of the trip came on our last day. After relaxing on the beach for hours, we took the elevator back up to the room to get ready for our private chef experience dinner. Except we got stuck in the elevator for almost two hours… Thanks to many hotel staff, the local fire department, and an elevator technician, we eventually made it out and were only about 45 minutes late for our dinner. This, of course, gave us lots to talk about while we enjoyed the most incredible custom dinner, drinks & service overlooking the beach and a gorgeous Hawaiian sunset on our last night in Maui.

Their dog, Moose, was a beloved part of the entire weekend, adding a sweet, personal touch to the celebration and completely stealing the show in his black bow tie.

The chapel entrance was framed with a full floral installation of white blooms, layered greenery, and trailing amaranthus, creating a romantic garden-like welcome into the historic stone chapel. The reception carried that same fresh, botanical feeling with green patterned linens, wood cross-back chairs, white lounge furniture, potted arrangements, and overhead greenery that made the space feel immersive and alive. Tables were styled with soft white florals, hydrangeas, roses, delicate greenery, candlelight, and small lamps that gave the evening a warm, intimate glow.[/field]

An Enchanted Forest Wedding in Naples with “More Is More” Energy

We truly embodied the enchanted forest with a mix of green tones in rich moss, forest green, and accents of a brighter chartreuse. To brighten these moodier tones, we brought shades of lavender, eggplant, and creams into the space through florals, menus, linens, and the dance floor.

From the bride: The vision for our reception, brought to life beautifully by our planner Carrie Darling, was to create the feeling of stepping into an enchanted forest. We imagined lush greenery and softly cascading florals framing the entrance, evoking a sense of discovery, as if the room had been quietly waiting to be found. Rich, mossy draping covered the walls, complemented by delicate blooms in shades of ivory, blush, and lavender. At the center, a circular bar overflowed with organic arrangements that felt abundant yet effortless. We loved the way the structured design elements, the modern ceiling, and tailored seating played against the wild, untamed florals, creating a magical tension between refined and romantic. Every detail was designed to be immersive and transportive: intimate yet grand, polished yet a little undone, like a secret garden brought to life for one unforgettable night. From the planner: We used a drape to “bring the walls in” and make the space feel less like a ballroom and more like your favorite, cozy restaurant. Guests entered through a makeshift hallway that built anticipation for when they turned the corner into the main room. Once they reached the reveal moment, guests were greeted by the drama of a 20-foot mini tree forest that guided them around the circular bar and into the main space. The layout also included several couches and banquettes to add soft seating to some of the dining tables, and piggyback on that intimate restaurant vibe. The rich mix of velvet green drapery, sharp chartreuse couches, and soft lavender florals was just a magical combination.

Byron proposed on our rooftop in Williamsburg in October of 2024, a night I’ll never forget. I thought we were simply heading out to dinner with a friend, with no idea he had something so special planned. As the sun set over the city, he got down on one knee in the most romantic surprise, and I couldn’t have been more excited to say yes. To make it even more meaningful, my parents flew in from Chicago and quietly snuck into our apartment during the proposal to decorate. Walking back in and seeing everything they had done made the moment feel even more perfect.

Adorned with intricate beaded lace, it struck the perfect balance between femininity and drama. It weighed nearly 20 pounds, so we had to buy it its own seat on the plane. For my second look, I stayed with Leah Da Gloria but went in a different direction, a bit sleeker and more modern. It was the perfect contrast to my ceremony gown, trading volume and embellishment for understated elegance.[/field]

I found the perfect bridesmaids’ dresses from V. Chapman. The soft slate blue was dreamy, and the delicate pattern gave off a distinctly Floridian vibe: light, airy, and effortlessly elegant. Each of my bridesmaids looked absolutely stunning, and the dresses complemented the wedding’s romantic, sun-soaked aesthetic perfectly.

Passed Hors d’ouvres at Cocktail Hour included: Compressed Melon with Balsamic Drizzle, Coconut Shrimp,p Short Rib Empanada, and Fig & Brie Cheese Tart. The Main Entrees offered guests a choice of Braised Short Rib, Pan SearedSalmono,n or a Spinach & Cheese Ravioli. Featured drinks included the Aperol Spritz (for her) and the Old Fashioned (for him). At cocktail hour, Carrie Darling Events built a custom Spritz Cart to serve Aperol Spritz to the guests! It offered guests an alternative drink experience away from the main bar, dressed up in citrus colored stripes and florals.

The Brides Bouquet: We were definitely looking for that “more is more,” over-the-top moment for the bridal bouquet, and Kaleidoscope definitely hit that mark! Paige had an all-cymbidium orchid bouquet that was wired together in a cascade that reached all the way to the floor. It was an absolute showstopper! It was both sculptural and effortlessly fluid. Each bloom carried intricate detailing, from the soft veining in the petals to the deep magenta centers, creating dimension and movement with every step she took. It was bold without overwhelming, modern yet timeless, and brought a fresh, fashion-forward energy to her bridal look while still feeling refined and elevated against the classic setting.

The Frasier vanilla sponge cake with fresh strawberries and Grand Bavarian cream cake was provided by the Ritz-Carlton. This minimalistic, buttercream cake was simple, yet elegant – and dressed with textured blooms for a pop of color.

Because Byron and Paige first met in a speakeasy in Chicago, it felt only fitting to weave that part of their story into the after-party. As the reception came to a close, guests were led across the resort in a lively, parade-style procession, following the band’s saxophonist into an entirely transformed space. Behind closed curtains, a rich, velvety red room awaited—a striking contrast to the reception that came before. The space was layered with deep red draping and lush roses, creating a moody, immersive atmosphere reminiscent of a classic speakeasy. A mirrored bar stretched the length of the room, surrounded by modern high-top tables, velvet lounges, and playful details like oversized playing cards featuring a “P” for Paige and a “B” for Byron. As guests stepped inside and espresso martinis began to flow, the DJ took over for the next two hours, with everyone fully leaning into the energy of the night and soaking up every last moment.

[field title=”Special Detail #2″]I spent a year living in Milan, Italy, while earning my MBA, where Aperol Spritz quickly became my go-to beverage. To bring a touch of Italy to our celebration in Naples, our planner, Carrie Darling, created a custom “Spritz Bar,” a detail that felt both personal and effortlessly chic. [/field]

My late Uncle Jimmy was a professional saxophonist, and the instrument has always held a special place in our family’s heart. Every thoughtfully curated detail felt natural to the setting, creating a soft harmony between the couple’s story and the landscape. Wilson and I were on the Amalfi Coast on a week-long vacation together. On the first day, we were fresh off the plane and hiked the Path of the Gods. Wilson proposed towards the end of the hike, before we walked down 1700 steps to Positano. We celebrated with wine and lunch in Positano before we took a boat over to our hotel! It kicked off an amazing trip to Italy that we will never forget!

I always knew I would wear a Mira Zwillinger dress because I have admired them for years. We went to a trunk show in New York to try on as many Mira dresses as possible. All of them were amazing, so it was tough, but once I tried on the Mayra gown, I had a gut feeling that it was the one!

The mother-son dance was Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy by the Tams.
