There are a lot of reasons for my decision to stop blogging.  I am really busy with my new gig, commuting and running Jungle Java.  I just don't have the time to keep this blog up as I would like too so I am putting it on hiatus for now.

Last week as I was watching the Michigan vs. western Michigan football game I heard something that stopped me in my tracks.  It was something so terrible and so utterly embarrassing that I had to rewind the video just to make sure I'd heard it correctly.

What I saw upon further review was something so evil and unoriginal it makes Roseanne Barr's version of the national anthem sound heavenly.

Yes, I heard live music played during a game at Michigan Stadium, specifically I heard the cheesy "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey.  You know, the song that is played at red Wing games simply to get drunken red Wing fans to sing "born and raised in South Detroit."  Every time I hear it played at Red Wing games I cringe because of its stupidity.  Are Detroit fans so simple that they will sing anything that says "Detroit?"  There isn't even a "south Detroit" it's Windsor

U of M needs to stop playing piped in music immediately, they need to leave the cheesy in stadium gimmics to the Red Wings and Piston.  Hell, I don't even care of Sparty does it, just don't lower the standards at Michigan Stadium just so a bunch of Chachi's can scream "South Detroit......" during a lull in the action.

A better idea would be to teach the band a couple of different tunes and let them play.

Piped in music is cheesy and stupid and Michigan shouldn't be a part of it.

It didn't take long for Sparty to come out swing with every cliche' in the book.  Here's a really funny, yet sad e-mail that I got today from a Spartan fan named Nick....poor, poor thing....

Wow.  

One quality win and you think the worldd is back on its axis in Ann Arbor. 

The season is 12 games long.  Let me know if  you feel the same way in late November.  

Were Appalachian State and Toledo just bad dreams  that you have now chosen to forget?

Have you now decided to send your check to the U of M alumni association to pay for Dick Rod’s contract?  Oh wait, you didn't’t go to school thereyou just like to jump on their bandwagon when it goes past your house . 

Why are you worried about what is going on in E.  Lansing?  Did the last twelve months stick in your craw a little bit?

Good Luck against Ohio State this year.  May be this will be the year Michigan finally beats the Buckeyes.  I hope that those Lilliputian linemen will be able to defend Forcer, or whoever  has survived the Big 10 season at quarterback   for Michigan by the time you get to play the Buckeyes.

Are you still following the swimming team  like you did last year when it was your only winning program?   By the way, I hear the Michael Phelps is next year’s honorary hash bash grand marshal.

I think I feel better now, but probably not as good as you did when you wrote your blog.

I'll respond to the poor guy's mindless babble, but the fact is MSU's bandwagon ran straight into a ditch Saturday and Dantonio's ascension to mythical status must be delayed.

Dear Poor Sparty,

1.  No, one big win didn't put the world back on its axis, MSU's BIG LOSS helped too.

2.  App. State and Toledo were last year and the year before, it doesn't have any bearing on TODAY so poor Sparty throwing it around doesn't really bother me.  If Michigan loses to Delaware State, then you have something.

3.  Nope, didn't go to Michigan.  Wish I could have, never wished I coulda gone to Spartyville.  Not once, nope, never!  I'm hardly on the bandwagon, been a Michigan fan since I was a kid.  Sorry.

4.  No, the last twelve months haven't been a big deal to me, a little disappointing yes, but nothing major.

5.  Don't worry yourself about Michigan and OSU, it doesn't concern you.  Worry more about what's going to happen October 3rd in E.L.

So there you have it, a poor, upset Sparty flailing away and anything to demean the Michigan program.  Somebody has an inferiority complex AGAIN!  Funnty, they didn't feel inferior until about 3:30 Saturday. LOL

What a difference 2 weeks makes, huh?

Just a couple of weeks ago The University of Michigan football team was imploding and MSU was talking about 9 wins, back to back wins over Michigan and a New Years day Bowl.  Well, well, well, it looks more like the same old, same old in college football in the great State of Michigan.  Some thoughts from Saturday's games.

•  It is time for the Sparty media and apologists to take stock of their program and realize that one win over a rebuilding Michigan team doesn't represent a shift of power in the state.  The litany of pro Dantonio recruiting columns in the Freep and News can give it a rest now.  I don't see it as a positive if you are getting the majority of your recruits from the State of Michigan if the talent is thin and sub-par.  Face it, Michigan High School football talent has always been "top heavy" meaning there were only a few game changers a year to come out of the state.  So Dantonio's success in recruiting a large number of MIchigan kids isn't really a valid argument; the real battle is for the top 5-8 players in the State of Michigan and the Wolverines have an edge in that department.MSU has a lot of good things happening, Athletic Director Mark Hollis is a top notch guy who does things the right way, Dantonio will win his share of games in E.L. and Izzo is Izzo, BUT...there is no shift in the balance of football power in the State of Michigan and all the squawking on the radio and in the papers won't change the fact that Rich Rod will win with his system, particularly when he gets more of his own "system guys."

• MSU's loss to CMU is bad, but it isn't as bad as it was once before, the MAC has improved and is playing a mjuch improved brand of football.  Losing to CMU isn't as bad as losing to Toledo in 2008.

• Yes, Forcier is gonna be a great QB.  He's just got something special that separates him from other young QB's.  He looked even more poised than Henne when he started as a true freshman at Michigan.  The good news for Michigan fans is he isn't likely headed to the NFL early and Devin Gardner may even be better than Forcier. Even the biggest Michigan hater has to acknowledge Forcier's presence on the field.

• As much as I hate to admit it, MIchigan still isn't "back."  There are just too many question marks on defense.  ND is a potent offense so the next few weeks will tell the story.  I am concerned that the D-line can't stop the run, they are undersized and young.  Isn't it odd that Craig Roh is starting at defensive end but William Campbell hasn't touched the field?

• Denard Robinson needs to play more....in a role similar to Steve Breaston.  Clearly Forcier is the better QB, but Robinson could be electric if they could find additional ways to utilize him.

• Funny how a win over ND can change perspective. Looking at the schedule now, doesn't it appear that the only two "tough" games are Penn State and Ohio State?  Before the win over The Irish, I thought all the games looked "tough."

If you haven't seen the new Mark Burnett ABC series, I suggest you tune in Sunday nights at 9 p.m. eastern.  This is his best series yet, yeah, I know, I loved Survivor too but this is better.  This show combines, American Idol, Survivor and The Gong Show.

The premise is, entrepreneurs pitch their ideas to 5 investors and the investors evaluate the business model and decide if they would like to invest in the business.  The "Sharks" are billionaires, Barbara Corcoran, a Real Estate mogul, Daymond John, Inventor of FUBU, Kevin O'Leary, Kevin Harrington and Robert Herjavec.  All are really strong personalities who obviously were selected because they are great "sharks."

The Sharks are allowed to offer any deal to the entrepreneur and they can even combine to do a deal. 

The show is great because of the Gong Show element, some people come in with ridiculous business ideas and get whacked in the head, mostly by O'Leary who plays to the camera at every opportunity.  The guy clearly wants to be Simon Cowell.
