FRIDAY, JULY 14, 2006

I just posted The EmpowerHour interview with Kathy Patrick from 06.27.06. You can "give a listen" by visiting The EmpowerHour site or simply clicking on the link on the right sidebar.

As Kathy is such an advocate of literacy and has created one of the largest Book Club organizations in the world, I have decided to "give my own horn a bit of a toot!"

For those of you who do not know, I have authored and published two books of my own. Their covers are displayed on the left sidebar and can be purchased thru Amazon but they are also available on my CreativeSuccessWorks website.

My first major foray into the wild and wacky world of writing and publishing was my children's book, God is Color. Here are a couple of glowing testimonials:

"Susan does a
colorfully brilliant job at illustrating God, as well as affirming the love and
diversity of all children on earth, in her beautiful book God is Color.”
-- Steve Viglione, Children’s Author, Founder and CEO of The I AM Foundation

“God is Color is a delightful ‘must-read’
for all ages. It vividly portrays some important basic truths so we all can
understand them. My five-year old loves to read it to me.”
-- Mary Burkins, Teacher, Mother, Truth Student

The direct link to God is Color is at www.godiscolor.com

My second book, Play or Pay: 77 Ways to Have FUN or Suffer the Consequences and End up Paying the Price, is a manual offering 77 fun-filled ideas that will guide, inspire and motivate the reader to a more Play-full, creative and authentic approach to life.

CreativeSuccessWorks Publications makes the following declaration:

WARNING: This book could be hazardous to your DIS-stress!

Here's what one reader had to say:

"This clever, witty and delightful book should be on every woman's MUST
READ list. While appearing to be basic and simplistic, it is actually a
haunting, soul-searching vehicle to help us find a way back to our childhood
feelings of delight with life. To me, it is a key to unlock the happiness
within each and everyone of us." -- Irene Watters, Retired Corporate Manager

My guest on TheEmpowerHour on Tuesday was New York Times bestselling author, Lawrence Block. Larry (who I know for over 20 years) has just released his 50th or so novel, Hit Parade which is the third in the Keller series.

On Monday night, he had appeared on the Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson, so I was extremely honored to have him as my guest. Aside from being a terrific writer and storyteller, the man is a riot, so we did alot of laughing. I'll let you know as soon as the archive is up.

On my personal hit parade, I'd like to announce that I have finally launched my photo album which I have entitled aptly enough -- A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words. The link is on the left sidebar just under my photo. Just click on the photo and you'll be taken to the album.

Most of the pictures are of my new home (the view actually) in Marietta, GA -- along with a couple of local sights. Hope you enjoy them.

The move took alot out of me and I'm just beginning to get my strength back -- that's why I haven't been blogging for the past few weeks. Forgive my absence.

TUESDAY, JUNE 27, 2006
"We read books to find out who we are. What other people, real or imaginary, do and think and feel is an essential guide to our understanding of what we ourselves are and may become." -- Ursula K. LeGuin

My guest tonight on The Empower Hour was Kathy L. Patrick, owner of Beauty and the Book, the country's only Hair Salon/Book Store and founder of The Pulpwood Queens Book Clubs, the largest "meeting and discussing" book clubs in the world -- "where tiaras are mandatory and reading good books is the rule!"

Much of our interview was about the power of books and reading --- and
finding the above quote just a few minutes before the show was about to
begin -- definitely seems like another synchronistic "confirmation" to
me.

If you'd like to learn more about this fascinating woman, her mission of promoting literacy and stories of the "tiara-wearing" Pulpwood Queens, the archive for tonight's show will be posted within the next week.

Be sure to check out last week's interview with Terence Yallop of Real Music (see right sidebar) as well as my interview from the previous week. The complete list of archived shows can now be found at the Archive section of The EmpowerHour website.

MONDAY, JUNE 26, 2006
"Chase butterflies and they
will never be caught. Watch butterflies and they come to you!" --
Unknown

Building on the synchronicity of yesterday, I received the above quote today in an email. (Is somebody trying to tell me something?)

Bonnie Snyder, (a new friend) founder of SacredHomeSpa, goes on to say " To watch a butterfly, you have to be still. You have to wait patiently, quietly
as the butterfly moves from flower to flower. There's no hurry, no rush, no
to-do list while focused on the butterfly."

In life, many times, we, too, have to become still and wait patiently -- in order for the Universe to do its work, weave its magic, manifest its miracles.

I guess that's exactly where I am at the moment -- waiting, being as still as possible and listening to what the Universe may be trying to communicate. It's pretty basic -- and really quite simple -- but certainly not always easy!

One step at a time -- one day at a time -- doing the best we can. And that's always more than enough!!

SUNDAY, JUNE 25, 2006
"Work is not always required...there is such a thing as sacred idleness, the cultivation of which is now fearfully neglected." -- George Macdonald

It is now 27 days since I left South Florida, my home of 28 years to relocate in Marietta, GA. My son has been living here for two years and I had reached the point in my life where I knew it was time for a major change.

In the process of unpacking, I'm "discovering" all kinds of goodies. Today's was the book Simple Abundance by Sarah Ban Breathnach which was given to me by my friend Irene.

If you're not familiar with it, the book is a collection of 365 daily readings/lessons of comfort and joy -- all in support of finding our authentic selves and the authentic life we were born to live.

Interestingly enough, prior to picking up the book, I had an extended conversation with Irene. I was sharing with her the difficulties I was experiencing with regard to adjusting to my new environment.

She suggested that I let go and surrender --- and take the day "off" --- from working, thinking, worrying, etc., etc. And I did just that --- and ended up finding the book which basically turned out to be a confirmation of what my friend had already told me.

Even more curious is the fact that she was the one who gave me the book in the first place -- so I take the entire experience as a major synchronistic occurence --- a sign, if you will --- that all is well --- in Divine Right order --- and that this day of Sacred Idleness --- was just part of the perfection of it all.

"Patience and perserverence have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish." --- John Quincy Adams

When I saw this quote the other day, I was struck by its poignancy ... and I knew I wanted to write about it. I don't know about you, but patience has never been my "strongest suit." I'm not too bad in the perserverence department, but as far as patience goes ...

Life, as most of us know it, certainly doesn't nurture the quality of patience, either. We live in such an instantaneous world, that it takes our conscious intention to just slow down.

One thing I know for certain is that to the degree that I can become quiet and "tune in" to my own natural rhythm, my ability to be patient increases accordingly. Of course, spending time resonating with Nature's Rhythm helps immeasurably ... as does having an awareness and faith in Divine Order and Timing.

There are powerful universal energies at play at this particular time and many of us are experiencing great changes in all areas of life. Others are facing life - threatening challenges.

Everyone, in their own unique way, is being called upon to turn to their Spiritual Resources for strength, support and empowerment. I know I am. How about you -- Are you feeling spiritually empowered?

On a related note, has anyone seen The Celestine Prophecy yet? Or the sequel to What the Bleep? I have not -- and was wondering what was the general feedback?

SUNDAY, MAY 28, 2006

"Spiritual Power can be seen in a person's reverence for life -- hers and all others, including animals and nature, with a recognition of a universal life force referred to by many as God." -- Virginia Satir

I just read this quote and liked it so much I just wanted to share it! I was reminded that the more I look for Spirit everywhere, the more I will see it.

And then, as I become increasingly aware of the interconnectedness of all things, I am awed and humbled by the realization of the need for One and All to complete the Universe.

This thing called Spiritual Power can be enhanced by blessing the One and All. What results is greater acceptance of Life, on Life's terms, and the serenity, peace and joy that will naturally follow.
