I was on the Crate Paper Blog yesterday with this little souvenir box I made to hold beach trinkets. I used the new Pier collection and covered the top of the box with the map paper, and added lots of embellishments inside.
It's got my favorite color scheme: aqua and red.

My daughter surprised me yesterday by cleaning her room all on her own. This is pretty much unheard of in our house. It inspired me to take it one step further and decorate some of her bookshelves. I used the Maggie Holmes Collection by Crate Paper to recover some of her favorite books which were getting a little frayed around the edges.
I love how the colors all tie in together.
I made my own labels for the spines...
And added one of the flower clips as a bookmark.
All in all it was a quick little project which really brighted up the space.
I put together a couple of travel pages from some of our recent trips. Last weekend we took a road trip across the state. We had to take two cars because at the end of the trip my husband had to split off and go to a conference for work. My daughter rode mostly with him (so she could play loud music) and my son road mostly with me.
One thing that was fun about taking two vehicles was I could snap a picture of my husband driving up ahead of me.

The second page I made was for Crate Paper's Creative Weekly about a trip to the beach we took in February. I used the new The Pier collection from Crate Paper for this page.
I have so many pictures from this trip I am going to need to make a mini album, but in the meantime I loved the picture of my family looking through one of the cut out photo boards.
This weekend we discovered chocolate fountains and 10 year old boys go very well together.
We've had a couple of busy weekends in a row. Last weekend was two birthday parties, book club and Cinco de Mayo.
We ended up at the neighors having "water wars" launching water balloons from one back deck to another. I don't know who was more into it - the dads or the kids.
Then this weekend it was really hot so we took the top off the Jeep and went for a road trip.
I picked up a few things at the gift shop at Snoqualmie Falls to add to my pages like postcards and pins.
I added some journaling to the back of the postcard for a little insert page.
Fun times!
Our Creative Weekly challenge for Crate Paper this month was to create a collage in all one color. I chose this soft green color and made a layout about one of my favorite drinks. I layered in a lot of vellum and even put the journaling on vellum to give it a softer look. I think I am going to have to try and stay in one color family more often... it was a lot of fun.
I just got my box from Crate Paper with their latest collection, The Pier. I had to share a peek of my new favorite product, these slide mount frames...
There are 27 of them in each box and they come in three different sizes.
The colors are very retro and so are the frames..right up my alley. Can't wait to start using them in my layouts, project life, travel albums, etc. I love everything about this collection, but these are definitely my favorite!
We didn't pick the best day to go to the Tulip Festival. It was rainy and windy and cold and muddy. But the fields of flowers were beautiful and I'm still glad we made the trip.
I made a little memorabilia page for my son's baby album this weekend.
I used a coin size page protector and stuck in everything from diaper pins to hospital id bracelets to a lock of his hair.
It was a fun little project and now I am planning one for my daughter's album as well.
Of course I used lots of vintage images and even stamped straight on to one of Tim Holtz's new enamal tags.
It was a very fun project to work on!
I put a post on the Crate Paper Blog this morning about these little shadow boxes, and I am showing them here as well. I had an entire box of birthday cake candles and decorations that I'd saved while my kids were growing up, but they were just jumbled in together. I thought this was a fun way to show what decorations went with each year. It's been fun going down memory lane and remembering what themes the kids had for their birthdays.
