Their names are now famous: Brassaï, Cartier-Bresson, Doisneau et Willy Ronis, and Izis being the least famous among them

The city of Paris is not making us "rediscover" this amazingly talented photographer with a wonderful exhibit of 270 prints, and a beautiful online exhibits with full HD images produced with the zoomorama technology. The online exhibit also contains a great video wall with ten YouTube videos placed side by side that you can view one after another without ever changing page.

For anyone interested you can get the XML source code to check out how easy it is to program such a mini-site. Simple press the "s" key while your cursor in on the zoomorama.

For the full description of the exhibit, running from Jan 20th until May 29th 2010, go to this page (French).

The city of Paris opened a major exhibition yesterday in remembrance of the 100 years anniversary of the 1910 major flood. The Seine flooded the city up to 8 meters ! All major monuments were affected, as well as all aspect of city life.

See below the virtual exhibit, or here the page on Paris.fr (French) : Link to Paris.fr details of the exhibit

With Zoomorama the city offers the Internet public never seen before original documents that can been seen in full details. Zoom in and be amazed at all the details of a city under water, from the Eiffel Tower to the St Lazard Train Station. Read the NewsPapers from 100 years ago as well as postcards sent from Paris.

You can also visit all the specific locations and views HD images for specific locations in the city thanks to Google Maps combined with Zoomorama: Google Mashup of 1910 Paris Flood

Technically this took only four days of programming using some CSS, and a little Javascript. The Zooming technology makes developing such exhibit a breeze, and for a significant budget saving. The city of Paris is so pleased with Zoomorama's technology that it already requested that another major exhibit be provided online using Zoomorama, with even more interactivity. More on this Photography exhibit in a few days !
