Dovid Gross - Bringing the whole world to Tshuva

The reason for the extra four days of slichot at the end of Elul is not because there are four days of slichos missing in the 10 days. On Yom Kippur we do say slichos. The reason is that there are supposed to be 10 days of fasting associated with the slichos. The fourth missing fast day is EREV Yom Kippur -- even though we do say short slichos on that day, it is not permitted to fast. Therefore we must have four more fast days, and we say slichos on the fast days. -Dovid Gross

I too am from Montreal, and I too went to school with Jason. He really was a wonderful as you say he was, with no exaggerations or embellishments.
