Today I learned about a website called ThePoint.com. The point (pun intended) of this website is that it is a revolutionary way for individuals to combine their influence and make things happen that they could not have achieved alone. It is primarily used for individuals who are organizing events, large petitions, or raising capital for their startup ventures. The site boasts that every problem has a “tipping point” which means that if enough people complain about it, change will happen.

The site allows public user registration, and takes a mere few minutes to fully setup your profile. In addition, the site allows you a little biography section to talk about yourself and even allows for an HTML dofollow link. Upon completion of setting up your profile and your link, you can then create a campaign or petition if you need to “make something happen” as their slogan goes.

Today’s post is going to be short and sweet. A site I discovered recently is called Heello.com. The website was launched by the same person who created Twitpic which I am sure those of you twitter-users have heard about or used already.

The site is much like a carbon-copy clone of twitter, similar to laconica, however this site is using custom built software from the ground up.

The site allows you to quickly register a profile and includes a place to insert your website which will then give you a dofollow backlink to your website. The “tweets” in this service are nofollow, so merely setting your profile up is the only dofollow link you can get but it is easily created and permanent.

Today’s link building tip is off the XFire.com community website. I have always been interested in playing computer games, and years ago I frequently used the Xfire software that allowed me to keep track of what games my friends were playing and what servers they were on. The software also lets you contact your friends through a chat menu that appears in whatever game you are playing (even if the game doesn’t support chatting).

With that being said, today I noticed that the site itself (not the software the site is known for) has public profiles as well as personal blogs for every new member. So head on over to XFire.com and register yourself a free account and setup your profile. Create your own blog, and expand your link building repertoire.

If you are an avid computer gamer yourself, which I assume quite a few of you are, I highly recommend checking out the software client as well as it is pretty neat and can come in handy if you are gaming with your friends.

While browsing around the web doing competitor research on different industries, I found an untapped link building and indexing platform that has gone relatively under the radar. The site is called CoRank and has a similar feel to social bookmarking sites like Delicious.com. The purpose of the site is to allow anyone to make their own website (subdomain.corank.com) and be able to create bookmarks/favorites/links and then vote on them (think Digg.com).

Finding sites using CoRank:
Option 1) The Google Query:
site:corank.com/about.html “powered by corank”
Option 2) Visiting CoRank.com and clicking on sites that appear in the left hand side (new submissions).

The first option will help you find every website that CoRank owns that Google knows about, but a few will be false positives that do not allow you to submit your links after you register and confirm your email. The second option will have a near 100% approved-submissions ratio, but the list is much smaller and will require more than one visit to the site.

Before any of you get extremely excited and think you should start mass-dropping your link, know that the site has some potential good uses and some things to avoid. First, know that it is super easy to create an account, and thus some pages are already spammed with links and it surely will continue in the future until the software is updated. The second problem with this site is that all of the sites are hosted on a subdomain of one URL (Same class-c IP address).

So why would I even bother making this post? Well, a lot of my readers are avid article writers using sites like GoArticles (previously mentioned on this blog), or utilizing profile/social bookmarking backlinks. Creating your own CoRank website or commenting on other relevant ones linking to your articles can get them indexed quickly which can promote your website in a snowball effect.

The website I am going to tell you about today is fairly simple to understand, but as of right now not a lot of people are using it. I feel that we can help them build up their network!

The site is: http://www.About.me, and it is a site that you create your own page on describing yourself, much like IKarma.com or LookupPage. You are then allowed to pick your own URL (about.me/YOURNAME), and set up your own content on it. The site offers you the use of HTML, so it didn’t take me long to realize you can use the site to build an anchor text backlink or two.

The registration is very easy, you just fill out the few boxes that are on the homepage of the site, and it brings you straight into the page creation system. From there, you can either fill it all out in one go (your biography allows HTML), or just hit skip and then it will bring you to the editor so you can see what your page looks like in real-time.

Either way, it should be simple enough for you to figure out how to build links once you are in. From there, use your favorite pinging software (pingomatic.com), and build a few links with laconica or your other preferred quick-link sites and your page should be indexed quickly.
