There is no unnecessary GUI and no advertisements. One touch and the SD card gets rescanned.

For the quickest update of the SD card, just have the app shortcut on one of your home screens.

Renaming multiple files:

1. Select all the files that you want to rename. 
2. Right click, choose Rename (or press F2).
   
3. Type the new name for the files.
   
4. Press Enter.
5. All files will get renamed in an incremental numerical order.
   

In Windows 7, there will be separate series of names for different file types as in the screenshot above. The JPEG files get renamed in a series starting from (1), and so do the PNG files.

The trick works while renaming multiple folders as well.

What are CBZ and CBR files?

CBZ and CBR files are nothing but zips (in case of CBZ) and rars (in case of CBR) of a bunch of images, with the extensions changed. So you can extract either of them using any archive extractors (WinZip, WinRAR, 7-Zip) to get the images contained in them.

How to convert CBR to CBZ?

Step 1: Extract the CBR file using any file archiver. I use the open source and free 7-Zip.

Step 2: After extracting you will get a folder containing a lot of image files.

Step 3: Right-click the folder and compress it to a ZIP file.

Change the archive format to Zip:

Also change the Compression level to Store. This way there will be no compression.

You will get a zipped archive of the folder.

Step 4: Rename the .zip file to .cbz
 

Press Yes and behold! CBR to CBZ! :D

How to convert CBZ to CBR?

The procedure is exactly the same as above except that you create a RAR of the folder.

Step 1: Extract the CBZ file using any file archiver.

Step 2: After extracting you will get a folder containing a lot of image files.

Step 3: Right-click the folder and compress it to a RAR file.

Note: You will need WinRAR to compress the folder to a RAR file. It is also free to use like 7-zip.

Step 4: Rename the .rar file to .cbr

That’s it. :)

My ZzzLCD utility turns off the monitor when you Press Win+L to lock Windows.

ZzzLCD is a tiny Autohotkey script containing the following code:

Start Up with Windows

If you want to have ZzzLCD startup with Windows on every reboot, perform the following steps:

1. Right click on ZzzLCD.exe and create a shortcut.
2. Go to Run (Win+R), type %appdata% and press Enter.
3. In the folder that opens up, browse to Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
4. Copy paste the shortcut that you created in step 1 inside the Startup folder.

Done. Now ZzzLCD will run every time Windows starts up. :)

Step 1: Open Realtek HD Audio Manager from the Control Panel.
 

Step 2: In the Speakers tab, click on the hard-to-spot Connector Settings button at the top right.

Step 3: Check the “Disable Front Panel Detection” check box.

Done. :)

Verify that the front panel audio jacks are working now.

PuTTY stores its settings in the registry. Here’s a short tutorial on how you can modify PuTTYs registry settings to change its default startup values.

Let’s, for this tutorial, increase the default “Lines of scrollback” (default value is 200)

Note: Before modifying the registry, ALWAYS make a backup. 

1. Go to Run (Win+R), type regedit and press enter.
2. In the registry editor, press Ctrl+F  to bring up the search box and search for SimonTatham
3. Expand the result SimonTatham > PuTTY > Sessions
4. Click on Default%20Settings. Scroll down on the right pane until you find the value ScrollbackLines
   
   
5. Double click on ScrollbackLines and change its value to 20000. Make sure you click the decimal radio button before modifying the value.

   

6. Press OK and you are done. Launch PuTTY and observe the default settings.
   
    

I use this trick to change the default number of “lines of scrollback”, and the “use system colours” settings, but there’s a whole lot of settings you can change. Eliminates the need to change those parameters for every connection manually every time.  :)
