I’ve added a bunch of new art to my Etsy shop — okay, okay, so not quite a “city’s” worth of new art *grin*, but if you’ve been following along with my blog recently, it’s a little bit different from my past work!

The trio of mini-prints above is called She Always Left The Light On, and is available in 5″x7″ (I’m happy to print 8″x10″ on request). If you look closely, you’ll see different windows lit up in each house and building. When I made these pieces, I was thinking of the special individuals in our lives who stick with us through thick and thin. OR, you can take my mom’s more humorous interpretation: it shows all the lights that me and my dad absent-mindedly leave on around the house. =P

Above is another style that I’ve been playing with, inspired by the rustic Chinese folk art. My parents have often told me about a village in southern China that my ancestors called home, so My Village was created with that in mind (admittedly, the architecture is somewhat European).

Lastly, I’ve also been working on a third series that I call Tall Buildings. It’s all about skyscrapers, highrise apartments and other vertically un-challenged buildings. As with most of my art, these new pieces have a slightly whimsical/retro/modern feel to it (hint: look closely at the flagpoles!).

Anyhoo, I hope you enjoy my latest round of art. It’s been awhile since I’ve been made *anything* but it feels *great* to be putting my creativity to work. I hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I enjoyed making them!

PS - here’s a few more pix:

All of these are currently available at my Etsy shop, with $3 FLAT RATE shipping for US and Canada! =)

My latest work has been far more benign, focusing on the buildings themselves (no bitemarks from radioactive lizards here =P). In a way, these buildings are monsters in and of themselves: I thought it’d be cute to make a ginormously tall building, out of place amongst some teensy row-houses.

I saw a lot of these “McMansions” when I lived in Los Angeles and San Francisco, sticking out like a sore thumb for all the world to see. They embody a sense of bold stupidity that you can’t help but love on some level.

PS - as usual I can’t decide on a single color palette so I think I’m going to just offer both of these versions. I hope you like them — I’ll be putting them in the shop soon! =0)

Hello everyone! I have to apologize for my absence the past year; I was preoccupied with other projects and unable to spend time creating art.

However, I made an important decision in February of this year to return to my proverbial roots and focus on Ubiki. I’ve therefore been working hard over the past few months to create new pieces to share with all of you.

First up: Popiki is a re-release of some of my older pieces, except with a much lighter color palette. You may recognize three of them, namely, Flower Eyes, Rice Stalks, and my all-time favorite, Eyeball Plant. Tree of Life (top-right corner) is an all-new print, with crisp, slightly curvy branches and hints of greens, blues and whites:

Interested? My Popiki series is available for sale at my Etsy shop.

There is, of course, MUCH more on the way; new contests, new art, new everything! I’m very excited to be back and look forward to sharing my new artwork with you! =)

Anyhoo I just wanted to say THANK YOU to Jena at Modish for featuring my Rawr prints on her site the other day. I’d been so busy I completely missed it!

BTW, Jena found me through Jaime’s brand new Vitamin D(esign) shop. It’s an awesome store carrying a mix of contemporary art, furnishings and accessories. Ubiki’s section is here, but I encourage you to stop by and take a look at the rest of her shop; I’m totally eying these bullet planters!
