<yandex:full-text>The collection of signatures in support of the nomination of candidates for the 2025 presidential election in Belarus has been carried out in compliance with the law, Chairman of the Belarusian Central Election Commission Igor Karpenko said at a CEC meeting in Minsk on 23 December, BelTA learned. "The presidential election campaign in Belarus is running in accordance with the timeframes established by the law. We have completed the stage of nomination of presidential candidates. According to the territorial commissions, the collection of signatures has been carried out in compliance with the law. The CEC did not receive any complaints. Voters applied to the CEC Information Center to ask about the location of signature collection places, about documents confirming the authority of members of initiative groups, about the possibility to sign if producing another document apart from a passport or identification card," Igor Karpenko noted. The CEC held seminars and meetings with territorial commissions to discuss topical issues of the election campaign and to explain the procedure to authenticate signatures in signature lists, the CEC head said. "The CEC received the protocols of territorial commissions which establish the number of voters who signed in support of the nomination of presidential candidates," he added. <yandex:full-text>Belarus will launch an electronic visa system for citizens of 67 countries, reads Council of Ministers’ Resolution No. 953 as of 16 December 2024 that was officially published on the National Legal Internet Portal, BelTA has learned. <yandex:full-text>The final agreements on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine should also take into account the interests of Belarus, Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yuri Ambrazevich said during a meeting of the Advisory Council for Belarusians Abroad at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, BelTA learned. Yuri Ambrazevich emphasized Belarus' interest in the peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine because the situation on its southern borders is very tense. “Against this background, the accusations against Belarus of aiding and abetting the aggression look absurd. Being a neighbor of Ukraine, Belarus is more interested than anyone else in the speedy peaceful resolution of this conflict,” he said. “No country wants armed hostilities on its borders. That is why, the diplomat pointed out, Belarus has been taking peace initiatives to prevent the escalation of the conflict from the very beginning. “This is why we said from the very beginning that we claim a seat at the table of peace negotiations on Ukraine when they begin. It is important for us to get guarantees of our own security. The final agreements should take into account, among other things, the interests of the Belarusian side,” the deputy minister said.</yandex:full-text>

<yandex:full-text>Belarus seeks possible ways to cooperate with the EU on the topic of illegal migration, Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yuri Ambrazevich said as he addressed a meeting of the Advisory Council for Belarusians Abroad at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, BelTA learned. Yuri Ambrazevich noted that the issue of illegal migration, which was not so acute for Belarus before, tops the agenda now. “One should live in peace with neighbors. Neighbors are given by God. We do not choose them. Therefore, we have been trying, calmly and persistently, to build relations with all neighbors along the perimeter of our state,” the deputy minister said. He recalled that in order to encourage the closest EU countries to engage in dialogue in a spirit of openness Belarus initiated and held an international conference on combating illegal migration in November. “We publicly reached out to the European Union for cooperation on this topic. But this step was not appreciated by them. They refused to participate at all. Everybody, except for Hungary. We will continue to work to find possible ways of cooperation and to oppose groundless and unsubstantiated accusations in the so-called instrumentalization of illegal migration and its use against the countries of the European Union,” Yuri Ambrazevich said. Belarus is not the source of the problem and is ready to look for ways to solve it with partners, he added.</yandex:full-text>

<yandex:full-text>Belarus and Oman will work out a cooperation roadmap, BelTA learned from Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Muscat. The head of state said: “We will set up an intergovernmental commission or a committee and will work out a roadmap, a plan. The Sultan has promised to come to Belarus next year. We will have worked out the roadmap by then. And we will not only wait for its approval. We will implement something in practice, too.” After visiting the National Museum of Oman in Muscat on Monday, 16 December Aleksandr Lukashenko and Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq Al Said continued communication. “I am going to meet with the Sultan right now. We will determine several concrete avenues of our actions instead of cooperation. And we will start doing it before he comes to us,” the president remarked. He explained that strategic avenues of Belarus-Oman cooperation had been determined by Aleksandr Lukashenko and Haitham bin Tariq Al Said during negotiations the day before. “And now we will meet in kind of a work environment and will talk about concrete programs and projects. They have already been sketched out,” the head of state said.</yandex:full-text>

<yandex:full-text>Belarus may produce the Oreshnik missile system with a completely different innovative technological stuffing, PhD in Law, expert on the operation of security agencies Sergei Karnaukhov said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel. According to him, the decision to deploy the Oreshnik missile system in Belarus is the first stage. Now it is necessary to service the ultra-complex equipment. “Nobody knows how Oreshnik operates. Let us note again that the West has never learned how to control this flying plasma. After all, inside the plasma there are electronics, steering systems. This missile should, if necessary, not just correct its flight, but also have the ability to self-destruct, especially if it has a nuclear charge. No one can imagine on what physical principles this has been implemented. I have not seen so far any publication that at least approximately revealed to us the operation of this equipment. This is indeed a military secret and a colossal technological superiority,” Sergei Karnaukhov said. According to him, this is a highly complex technological facility. “Of course, at the first stage, this equipment will be serviced by those who know how to operate it. Russia's task here is different - it is necessary to train Belarusian military to use it. It is necessary to make the officers of Belarus not just know how to do it, but be a part of this kind of troops, so there will be interpenetration and integration. I am absolutely sure that relevant scientific and training bases will be opened in the higher educational institutions of the Belarusian Defense Ministry. This is the beginning of the development of a separate high-tech branch of troops of Belarus, which will complement all that is being developed in Russia,” the expert said. “In the future, knowing how Belarus is developing, I am absolutely sure that Oreshnik 2.0 or 3.0 will be Belarusian-made with a completely different innovative technological stuffing. This is a very good start for us,” Sergei Karnaukhov said. “Plus, let us note that this is the formation of a large, important civilian industry, which will serve the kind of troops that will be located in Belarus today.”</yandex:full-text>

“Plus, let us note that this is the formation of a large, important civilian industry, which will serve the kind of troops that will be located in Belarus today.” </turbo:content>

The document has been prepared in connection with the significant changes in the military, political, social and economic situation in the Eastern European region, including in the territory of the Union State, the intensification of sanctions pressure by the West and the ongoing unprecedented information war against the member states. The Security Concept of the Union State is based, among other things, on the Constitutions of Russia and Belarus, the Union State Foundation Treaty of 8 December 1999, the National Security Concept of Belarus, the National Security Strategy of Russia, and the Military Doctrine of the Union State. <yandex:full-text>After a session of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Belarus and Russia Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko asked Russia to provide Belarus with new weapon systems, BelTA has learned. The head of state expressed concern about the situation at Belarus’ western borders and in neighboring Ukraine. “I would like to publicly ask you to deploy new weapon systems and primarily the Oreshnik systems in Belarus’ territory. It would calm down certain minds,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. Vladimir Putin promised that these requests will be granted. According to the Russian head of state, it may happen in H2 2025. “I believe the deployment of Oreshnik missile complexes in the territory of the Republic of Belarus is possible. I think it will become possible in the second half of the next year: as the batch production of these complexes in Russia grows and as these missile systems are accepted into service of the Russian strategic forces,” the Russian president stated. According to the Russian leader, the cutting-edge missile systems Oreshnik have no analogs in the world. If used in clusters, the effect is comparable to that of nuclear weapons. However, Oreshnik missile systems are not weapons of mass destruction.</yandex:full-text>

<yandex:full-text>The Belarusian economy has doubled over the past 20 years, with the country’s primary strategy being to ensure a systematic and quality growth of GDP, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said in an interview to Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned. Speaking about the economic indicators, which the country has achieved, the prime minister said that GDP growth was among the crucial ones, and explained what it meant. “In a common language, this term refers to the value of all goods and services produced in the state. The more we produce, the more we consume, and therefore, the higher the level of people's incomes, is. It is actually an integral indicator - one of the most important indicators - of economic development. The growing GDP means the country is developing,” Roman Golovchenko said. He cited a few examples. For instance, if builders dig and then fill up a hole, they get paid for both jobs, and GDP increases, but there is no progress. If a female client of a male hairdresser pays him for his services every month, and then they get married, GDP will fall by the amount the woman used to pay for her haircut to her husband. “GDP growth can be stimulated. For this purpose, a whole arsenal of means is used, and the state has them - from increasing budget spending to, for example, liberalization of regimes, tax cuts and so on. Its growth can be stimulated by any means, including emission. But it will have no weight, no impact, if such growth is accompanied by inflation. Accordingly, additional revenue will be eroded by inflation, which means people will not feel any improvement in living standards,” the prime minister emphasized. According to Roman Golovchenko, Belarus is doing its best to develop the economy systematically and stick to quality growth. “We consistently advocate for quality and balanced growth of the economy. We have increased our gross domestic product by 2.3 times since 2000, that is for 24 incomplete years. It reached Br216 billion last year. That means our economy has doubled over the past 20 years. This year we are also set to ensure growth above the planned parameters. It is very important that it is accompanied by the growth of household incomes. The main sectors are growing - industry, agriculture, construction, trade. We can state that the IT sector has recovered. Following long, slow decline the situation has stabilized, we can see very positive changes in the IT sector,” Roman Golovchenko said. The prime minister also took note of the growth of real wages. “Wages have grown by 13%. This is adjusted to inflation, which is also kept within the forecasts,” Roman Golovchenko said.</yandex:full-text>
