these five words are a cheek to anyone wo thinks about design, architecture and art as soft, warm and sentimental subjects. the posters claim the opposite: three terms are given as basic requirements for good architecture or design: perfection, order, discipline.

saturn, quaoar, planck's constant, orbital velocity: such were the underlying design parameters for a world-class institutional building. on arrival, the only way is up, heading for orbit, as indicated by the sign in the foyer. a three-dimensional lettering rotated through 90° seems to defy the laws of gravity.

baden-württemberg space center, signage system, exhibition design
the exhibition "de sein – german graphic design from post war to present" in hong kong, organised by the hong kong design centre and the german poster museum, curated by jianping he, ended on 28 december. some works of our studio were shown next to some of the most important german graphic designers, including anton stankowski, kurt weidemann, hans hillmann, pierre mendell, gunter rambow, uwe loesch, erik spiekermann, cyan, fons hickmann and gerwin schmidt.
the signage system for the new space-center baden-württemberg has been completed this week. a huge, three-dimensional lettering extends over three storeys in the foyer. stay tuned for more images and information!
on 14th december andreas uebele will speak at the "abendbrot" lecture series in mainz.
corporate design for the new stuttgart municipal museum, invited competition, not realized.
the sign illustrates the museum´s character: a diverse collection of different objects and subjects under one roof.

»typographic tables« is an exhibition at the museion – museum of modern and contemporary art bolzano, featuring works by 30 graphic designers, typographers, calligraphers and artists. the works of ed fella, erik spiekermann, kenya hara, irma boom, philippe apeloig, andreas uebele and many others are exhibited.

movement is the essence of sport – and movement also defines the design language in the new adidas design centre: turbocharged typography runs through the building on the adidas campus in herzogenaurach (architects kadawittfeldarchitektur). in collaboration with zieglerbürg.

artist karin Sander is awarded the hans thoma prize of baden-württemberg 2011. the award will be presented on 14th august in bernau, followed by an exhibition that runs until 18th september. we designed the exhibition poster and advertisements.
the exhibition catalogue »alphabet innsbruck« has received an red dot award: communication design 2011.

the lettering itself reveals what’s so special: the latin and cyrillic characters not only communicate sofia’s geographical position within europe; the use of two alphabets also underlines the city’s exceptional cultural melange whose richness is reflected in the diverse typographic forms.
