Quality Academic Service Learning is a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen community members, and parents. Service-Learning offers a dynamic path toward more engaging classroom and service experiences. Utah State Office of Education offers support for all subject areas and grade levels. Meet Linda Mayne in the faculty lounge with some examples and additional information that will assist teachers and administrators towards implementation of quality service-learning in Utah schools.

Join us for a presentation demonstrating the process involved in selecting the very best instructional materials for classroom instruction. The evaluation process for the RIMS database at the State Office of Education will be showcased, with guidelines on the criteria to use in selection. This presentation will be of interest to anyone interested in the textbook selection process, and will show this publicly available database resource. In a time when curriculum resources are available from numerous publishers and is even freely available online, this presentation will give direction useful in evaluating and selecting courseware materials.
