Marvin Eastman vs Drew McFedries!

Former light heavyweights Drew McFedries (6-2) and Marvin Eastman (14-7-1) will meet in a middleweight showdown at UFC 77 in Cincinnati, Ohio.(here and here).The Miletich-trained McFedries turned quite a few heads (mine included) with his devastating first-round knockout of Jordan Radev at UFC Fight Night 10 in June. It was the second win for McFedries inside the Octagon — he scored a technical knockout of Italian bruiser Alessio Sakara in his UFC debut at UFC 65 in November 2006.

He was blistering Martin Kampmann with hard punches early on in their bout at UFC 68, however, the Danish kickboxer wisely took the fight to the ground and choked out the Iowa native.

Since his loss to Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at UFC 67 via knockout in the second round, Eastman has been rumored to appear in several bouts, none of which were UFC-related.

Reports circulated that he was going to face Vitor Belfort at Cage Rage in April, but that bout eventually fell through. He did, however, recently outpoint in Rob Kimmons at the International Fighting Organization (IFO) event earlier this month.

With three losses in three attempts in the UFC, it was widely (and now apparently incorrectly) believed that Eastman was released from his contract. If this match up is indeed accurate, it appears the veteran “Beastman” will get one more shot at his first win inside the Octagon.

But it’s not going to be easy — McFedries hits like a truck.

UFC Lightweight Champion Sean Sherk tested positive for Nandrolone Metabolite following his bout at UFC 73: “Stacked,” according to the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC). This is an ILLEGAL steriod, and of course all illegal drugs are banned from the UFC, and illegal in the United States.
Sherk has ONLY been fined $2,500 and suspended for one year (effective as of July 7). I personally agree with this pushiment, and think it should be far worse then what was given! Sean Sherk should not only be fined MORE then 2,500 he should also have his belt taken away from him, and should NOT get the chance to get it back!

Nandrolone levels can range from 2ng/ml to 6ng/ml depending on the person and the level of activity. Sherk tested positive on both samples at 12ng/ml. I like Sherk, and thought he was an exceptional fighter and seem to be a great person, However I was WRONG! I said a lot of great things about Sean Sherk leading up to the fight on July 7Th, and after the fight. Now I have to take them all back.

Sean Sherk, like every other doper or cheater, has betrayed his fans and his sport. He has lied to all of the people who love MMA, and has betrayed the sport entirely! With fighters like Sherk and Franca using illegal drugs it just gives the MMA, and UFC a bad rebutation! If these fighters continue to do this MMA is going to be just like any other sport (baseball, football, pro Wrestling, and etc).

However........That’s NOT all.

Sean Sherk’s opponent, Hermes Franca, contacted MMAWeekly to apologize for testing positive for Drostanolone. Franca has also betrayed his fans, family, friends, and the UFC. Franca, too, was fined $2,500 and has been suspended for one year. Like said about Sean Sherk this is a good pushiment, and should be far worse for him! Hermes Franca should NEVER get another chance at the title.

Hermes Franca apologized to the public, his family, and friends. He also said in his apology that he wasn't trying to make excuses for his action, however he continued to say that he had injury that wouldn't heal in time for his fight with Sean Sherk, fighting is his only means of support for his family so he took illegal drugs to speed up the healing process. He also said that he loves to fight, and loves the sport, and cant wait to start fighting again. That sounds like a large load of EXCUSES to me!

However one thing Hermes Franca did do was sincere apology, However I still have a difficult time feeling the least bit sympathetic. He talks about fighting being his love, his entire life, yet betrays it by cheating in a championship match.

He also cites desperation stemming from his financial difficulties. He is afraid of losing the winning purse that would support his family yet costs himself - and them even more in the long run by damaging his career.

I’m at a point where it just doesnt matter what the reasons are anymore. Whether or not you agree with his reasoning taking drugs to help you in a fight is against the rules. And when you break the rules you are cheating.

Sherk was penciled in to defend his title against BJ Penn in November of this year. Unless he appeals and this finding from the CSAC is somehow overturned, it looks like that bout is no longer on the table.

Furthermore, it could set up yet another championship bout for the vacant 155-pound title if the UFC decides to strip Sherk of his strap.

This Could Be Good News Or Bad News!

Mauricio “Shogun” Rua will make his Octagon debut against Forrest Griffin — not Ryoto Machida — at UFC 76 on September 22. This could be some devastating new for Forrest Griffin. I like Forrest Griffin and I know he is a talented fighter and is capable of beating alot of good fighters, however i don't think this is a good match up for him (Forrest Griffin) right now, and here's why...

Mauricio "Shogun" Rua is a very good fighter and has a good MMA record. He has beaten some of the best fighters including the current UFC light heavyweight Champion Quinton Jackson by knockout in the fight round. He has also beaten Antonio Rogerio Nogueira who is one of the best BJJ artists in the world. He has a MMA record of 16-2 with 13 knockouts and 1 submission. He is an excellent stand up fighter one of the best in MMA today.

Now lets move the spot light over to Forrest Griffin for a second. Forrest Griffin is a a good stand up fighter and im not trying to take anything away from him, but i don't think he is ready to fight someone this good yet. Forrest Griffin has an overall MMA of 13-4 and 5-2 in the UFC. Three of his five wins were by decision and his last fight against Hector Ramirez "Sick Dog" went the decision and Ramirez isn't a very good fighter only having two fights in the UFC and losing both. Mauricio Rua has two much experience and KO power for Forrest Griffin to win. Honestly i hope i am proven wrong because i like Forrest Griffin and want to see him knock Mauricio Rua OUT!!!

Who Will Win...Gonzaga or Couture?

I published a post yesterday stating my opinion on who i thought would win the fight between Randy "The Natural" Couture, and Gabriel "Napao" Gonzaga. I said that i felt that Couture had a lot more experience in the octagon (which he does) and that he would win the fight, however i may have.. underestimated Gonzage a little bit. Gabriel Gonzaga has a lot of weapons in his tool belt.c First off he has a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt, also he was the Heavyweight BJJ Black Belt GP 2004 Champion, ADCC Trials Brazil Champion and ADCC 2005 second place, four-time BJJ national Champion / five-time Sao Paulo State Champion. He has a well packed resume and should not be taken lightly. Not only is he a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt, but he has good stand up skills. He knocked out one of the most deadly strikers and kickboxers in the world and he got drop by a head kick from Gonzaga. He (Gonzaga) will do whatever it takes to win the fight. If Couture wants to stand up and strike (which he probably wont) then Gonzage will stand up and strike and do a good job at it. If Couture wants to take him down then he will do his best to submit him. He is a very well rounded fighter and it is really going to be an exciting fight. However rest assured that Couture will be in great shape, he is not going to look past Gonzaga and he will be prepared. Gabriel Gonzaga Says He's Ready To be The Champion!

Gabriel Gonzaga recently moved to the United States just before his unexpected knockout victory over the very deadly Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic. Since moving to the U.S he has quit his job and has been training full time and say he is ready to be the heavyweight champion of the world. He says everything is going great for him. He has evrything he has ever dreamed about the only thing missing is " The Belt". Gabriel Gonzaga faces Randy "The Natural" Couture next month in Mandalay Bay Events Center, Nevada I think this is going to be a very great fight for both fighters. Gabriel Gonzaga really seems to want this, he has the will and desire to possibly become the new heavyweight champion. Randy Couture also has something to prove. He is 44 years old and many people thought he couldnt come back to the UFC out of retirement and do anything expect get knocked around and then the shocked the world by defeating 6'10 280 pound tim Silva for the belt. Both fighters really have something to prove and both want to be on top. Randy Couture is without a doubt one of the most dominant fighters in MMA. He has great wreslting, submissions, and take downs, and actually has really good striking skills when he uses them. Gonzaga is really well rounded fighter he has great striking skills as well as good submissions. He has an overall MMA record of 8-1, and an overall UFC record of 4-0 all by knockout or submission. Randy Couture on the other hand has an overall MMA record of 15-8, and an overall UFC record 12-5, however he has beaten many great fighters including Tim Sylvia, Chuck Liddell, Mike Van Arsdale, Vitor Belfort(twice), Tito Ortiz, and Pedro Rizzo. Couture has an imprissive record, but i can assure you he wont take this fight lightly. Gonzaga is a good fighter, and Couture knows that so i can almost guarantee this is going to be a battle, and maybe even an another UFC upset. Im rooting for Couture, however dont jump on the Couture ban wagon just yet because rest assured Gabriel Gonzaga is going to bring his A game and give it his all so dont be surprised to see him holding the belt at the end of the fight. UFC:74 RESPECT. Josh Koscheck "Kos" vs Georges St-Pierre "Rush".

This is one of the match ups on the fight card for UFC 74 RESPECT. I'm going to give you my opinion on the outcome of this fight and why and think its going to turn out that way and i would greatly appreciate it if you left me a comment and told me your opinion.
First off i want to start by saying that i think this is a very well deserved fight for Josh Koscheck, however i don't think this is a very good match up for George St Pierre. I'm not trying to bad talk or take anything away from the ability or skills that Koscheck possesses, but this is not a good match up at all for St Pierre. Both Koscheck and St Pierre have fought about the same amount of fights in the UFC, however the only real good strenght that Koscheck has is wrestling. Yes he has improved his stand up skills, and we got a glisp of that in his fight against Diego Sanchez, however he hasn't improved enough to beat St Pierre. Josh Koscheck has an overall MMA record of 11-2, and 7-1 in the UFC with his only loss coming from Drew Ficket in the third round. George St Pierre has an overall MMA record of 13-2, and 7-2 in the UFC with his only two losses coming from the current welterweight champion Matt Serra and former welterweight champion Matt Hughes. The reasons i don't think Josh Koscheck will be able to beat George St Pierre is because the skills, ability, and experience that St Pierre has far surpasses what Koscheck has. Koscheck has had eight fights in the UFC the only impressive fight he has is his win against Sanchez. St Pierre on the other hand has had nine fights in the UFC with impressive wins over Karo Parisyan, Jason Miller, Frank Trigg, Sean Sherk, BJ Penn, and Matt Hughes. St Pierre is without a doubt one of the most athletic fighters in the UFC, he has the ability to dominate almost any fight. Koscheck just doesn't have the experience to beat St Pierre however we have seen some serious upsets lately in the UFC so i may be eating my own words, but we'll see.

Does Keith Jardine Deserve A Shot At Chuck Liddell???

Does Keith Jrdine really deserve a shot at Cuck Lddell? Yes Lddell did lose his last fight in a stunning firs round knock out to Quinton Jackson, however chuck Liddell is one of the best strikers in all of MMA. So why would the UFC give Keith Jrdine a shot him? Keith jdine is by know means anywhere close to the caliber of fighter that chuck liddell is. I can think of alot better match ups for him. Why not give Houston Alexander (not saying he's the same caliber) i mean he did knock out Keith jardine in the first round. I think that Keith jardine is the only fighter right now willing (dumb enough) to get into the octagon with chuck liddell. Chuck Liddell is a Superior fighter and everyone knows it and fighters like Houston Alexander, Forrest griffin, Micheal bisping, and Wanderlei Silva don't want to step into the ring knowing there going to face a defeat especially when all of these fighters are all very good and have very good track records. There is someone i would like to see get into the octagon with Liddell and that heavyweight Brandon Vera. Rumor has it that is is dropping down 225 to 205 and fighting in the light heavyweight division Now i don't know if Vera is ready for a match up like Liddell, but i do know he has been on a impressive win streak with an overall record of 8-0 all by knockout or submission, and the fact that he is dropping down from heavyweight only means he is only going to have more knockout power, however this is just what i would like to see and i doubt it will ever happen because it seems to me like the UFC has already made a decision so i guess its going to be Keith jardine and chuck Liddell at UFC 76.

I am the biggest UFC fan ever, and remember i said UFC. So I'm going to be completely honest with everyone i am really getting tired of all these PRIDE fighters coming into the UFC and stealing the spotlight and even obtaining the UFC light heavyweight title. Now i will admit that PRIDE has alot of great fighters, and a select few are better then some of the fighters in the UFC, but like i said why are they able to come over to the UFC and get title shots when the fighters already in the UFC and well deserving don't get the chance? It almost seems to me (and i know this cant be the case) that the UFC is struggling to find good top quality fighters so they are having to look other places? Is it because they think it will generate more revenue for them threw pay-per-view and tickets? Because if that's what they think they are mistaken. I don't really have any desire to pay to see two fighters from pride step into the octagon for the main event. What about you? I honestly don't have anything against PRIDE or the fighters that come from there. I know they have great fighters and the UFC is the place to be if your a fighter. It is every fighters dream to hold the title in the UFC and to make good money doing it, BUT if they want to come over to the UFC, or even if the UFC wants them to come over they should have to work there way up the ranks to get a shot at the title just like every fighter in the UFC has to do! In my opinion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson didn't deserve a shot at the title and the only reason he got his shot is because chuck Liddell got it for him, and he somehow managed to get a lucky punch in. Another point i would like to touch on is the earning factor. Rampage Jackson got paid 450,000 dollars for beating chuck Liddell however UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva only earned 90,000 in his impressive first round win over Nate Marquardt at UFC 73 and UFC lightweight champion Shean Sherk only earned 28,000 for his win over a deadly Hermes Franca. And some fighters made as little as 3,000 for fighting in UFC 73. I know that Rampage Jackson was fighting chuck Liddell and that is probably why he made so much on the fight, but i just feel like you should take care of the fighters that have been in the UFC for ALOT longer time them any of these PRIDE fighters. But like i said this is all my opinion so leave me a comment and tell me what you think! Thank You.

Dana White calls Floyd Mayweather’s ‘bluff’

Super lightweight boxing champion Floyd Mayweather is still running his mouth, saying in a recent Yahoo!Sports.com article that, “UFC’s champions can’t handle boxing. That’s why they are in UFC.”
Back in March, floyd “Pretty Boy” Mayweather more or less dissed UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck Liddell, as well as the sport of mixed martial arts.
Well Apparently, he still has more to say on the issue. And, UFC President Dana White not surprisingly has taken the bait, offering to pay Mayweather millions to back up his talk.
Here’s a talk from White:
“I used to talk like Floyd Mayweather when I was involved in boxing. I talked just like him, until I educated myself about this sport. These guys are amazing athletes, Floyd Mayweather is one of the best boxers ever, (and) Sean Sherk will whoop his ass in under two minutes. Any day that Mayweather wants to put his money and his ass where his mouth is, I’m ready. If he wants to step up, let’s do it. I’m willing to put together a fight for Sean Sherk and Floyd Mayweather with numbers that would make sense for Floyd. And I guarantee you he would not accept it. Floyd Mayweather would never fight in the UFC because he would get his head ripped off.“
On May 5, Mayweather steped into the ring with Oscar De La Hoya for what was an enormous payday — somewhere in the range of $20 million.
Put simply, even the top UFC fighters don’t take home that kind of purse on one night … not even close.
Most likely, this is a cunning move on the part of Mayweather to promote his upcoming bout at a time when his sport is literally on the ropes. When i first heard of all the trash talk that was coming out of mayweathers mouth is reallt made me mad. He has absolutely NOTHING on ANY of the fighters in the UFC and probably in MMA. He is nothing but a hooks and jabs boxer and i will say he is an excellent boxer obviosuly the best boxer today however he does'nt compare to any UFC fighter. And when i heard this offer that White put on the table for mayweather it put a smile on my face however the more i began to ponder the situation i realized that it was'nt an intelligent more on his part. Dana White is the president of the UFC he knows that he has the best fighters known to man and he knows that so why take the bait that mayweather put on the table to promote his sport? That is all he his trying to do! And another point why pay mayweather millions of dollars when his own fighters dont get paid anywhere close to that amount. Well mayweather would never agree to a fight with anyone from the UFC and as much as i would like to see it, its probably a good thing he would'nt.

Chuck Liddell vs. Keith Jardine Expected to Headline UFC 76

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell (20-4 MMA, 14-3 UFC) and Keith Jardine (12-3-1 MMA, 4-2 UFC) are expected to headline Anaheim’s UFC 76 event in September. A source close to one of the fighters told UFCjunkie.com (www.ufcjunkie.com) of a tentative agreement that was reached earlier today.
Jardine will take the spot vacated by PRIDE standout Wanderlei Silva. Earlier this week, UFC president Dana White said that Silva turned down the UFC 76 fight with Liddell despite having a verbal agreement in place. UFCjunkie.com first broke the news of that agreement, but for reasons still unknown, Silva apparently opted not to take the fight.
Instead, Liddell will face Jardine, a cast member from The Ultimate Fighter 2 who worked his way into title contention before suffering a shocking, 48-second upset to UFC newcomer Houston Alexander back in May. Prior to that UFC 71 loss, Jardine had posted a 4-1 record in the UFC — with his only loss coming via a controversial unanimous decision to Stephan Bonnar at UFC Fight Night 4.
The loss to Alexander erased all the momentum the 31-year-old had gained after his dominating first-round TKO victory over Forrest Griffin at UFC 66. It was the biggest win of Jardine’s career. But the Team Jackson fighter now has an opportunity for an even bigger one.
Liddell, who had held the UFCâ€™s light heavyweight title since April 2005, suffered a first-round technical knockout to Quinton Jackson at UFC 71. The May 26 loss was the 37-year-old’s first defeat in eight fights.
The future UFC Hall of Famer’s upcoming fight with Jardine will be his seventh consecutive main-event fight.
The fight with Jardine — “Plan B,” if you will — may be a letdown for many hardcore MMA fans. After all, the proposed Liddell-Silva bout had been one of the most-anticipated fights in the sport’s history. The UFC, and specifically White, had tried to arrange the matchup for years but experienced one snafu after another. During a UFC 61 event in July 2006, White event went as far as announcing the fight was going to happen — only to later blame the then-owners of PRIDE for keeping it from happening.
Liddell and Jardine are expected to officially sign a deal for the fight soon.
UFC 76 takes place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., on Sept. 22. UFCjunkie.com has learned that a fight between 170-pound contenders Diego Sanchez and Jon Fitch (a fight UFCjunkie.com exclusively announced last weekend) likely will be billed as the night’s co-main event.

UFC 76: Mike Swick vs. Chris Leben?

Former castmates on the first season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) Mike Swick (10-2) and Chris Leben (16-4) could possibly meet at UFC 76 on September 22 in Anaheim, California.
Although no bout agreements have been signed, UFCmania received the news earlier today on good authority that the rematch is in the works.
The two first tangled at WEC 9: “Cold Blooded” back in 2004. “The Crippler” won that fight in the second round via knockout (Video here).
Then, one year later, the middleweights were featured on the TUF reality series. Neither fighter made it past the semifinals on the show.
Swick is coming off of just his second career loss to Yushin Okami at UFC 69 in April. Immediately following the bout, Swick publicly stated numerous times that he would drop down to welterweight and test the waters against fighters more his size.
It’s unclear whether or not those plans have been put on hold or this fight will be held at welterweight. However, I find it hard to believe that if this match up does indeed happen at UFC 76 that both Swick and Leben would dip down to 170.
Time will tell.
Leben — a nine-fight UFC veteran — has dropped three of his last four bouts inside the Octagon. The most recent of which was a unanimous decision loss to Kalib Starnes at UFC 71 in May. He has talked recently about bolting for other promotions such as Icon, but if this turns out to be accurate, it looks like those plans are also on hold.
Interesting rematch to say the least. Things are still a little foggy at this point, however, so stick around for additional updates on this fight and others at UFC 76.

Wanderlei Silva: I didn’t ‘duck Chuck

Former PRIDE FC Middleweight Champion Wanderlei Silva denies recent statements from UFC President Dana White that he didn’t want to fight Chuck Liddell in an article just posted on MMAWeekly.com — the contents for which was taken from an interview the Brazilian posted on his official Web site. “The Axe Murderer,” it seems, simply didn’t want to fight him at UFC 76 in September. Here’s the latest: “I never said that I wouldn’t fight Chuck. I’ve wanted this fight for a long time. I received a contract with two options, I could fight in September or November. I have chosed to make this fight in November. I was the first to want this fight, but they kept avoiding this fight. Now there’s a lot of people saying that I have ducked Chuck. This is not true.” According to Silva, timing was the issue that prevented him from taking the fight in September. He’s moving to the United States in a few weeks and wouldn’t be able to put in the amount of training necessary to be at his best. Since news of this fight falling a part emerged just a few days ago, the UFC has pinned the blame on Silva. Not surprising, Silva is not going to sit idle and be the scapegoat. Because why would one of the most punishing fighters in the history of the sport — a man who has competed against the elite for years — turn down a big payday and refuse to fight? It seems he didn’t. Then again, it appears that there are more than likely three sides to this story: The UFCs, Silva’s and the absolute truth. Regardless, Silva goes on to say that he is still down to fight Chuck in November if, of course, Liddell doesn’t “hide” from the showdown. Here’s a snip: “I want to fight chuck in November and make a huge show, and make it the biggest show ever…I have no doubts it’s the most important fight of my life. I know Chuck is a great name in the U.S., we’ll do a great fight. I think I must be in my best shape, so I want this time to train better to be in my bets shape ever. This fight is on, if he Chuck doesn’t hide behind this mess.” Sounds like fightin’ words to me. It also sounds like this monster clash isn’t “dead forever” — at least from Silva’s perspective. Chuk Liddell: Willing to fight in September and November

With the UFC 76 showdown between Chuck Liddell and Wanderlei Silva officially squashed the former light heavyweight champion is still eager to fight in September and November, according to yahoo sports. Here’s a deal from the “Iceman:” “I love to fight, so I’d like to do both [September and November] if they want me for both. Bottom line, there aren’t any problems for me to be ready for (November) if I have a fight in September, so I’d like to see them do it.”
The last time Liddell competed twice in such a short timeframe was back in 2003, when after his loss to Randy Couture in June, he participated in PRIDE FC: “Total Elimination” in August of that same year. Without question, the UFC would love to accommodate his request — Liddell is hands down the biggest draw for the promotion. The problem is, who the hell does he fight in September, let alone again in November? When the deal fell through with “The Axe Murderer,” White indicated that there was now a scramble to find a main event for the show in Anaheim, Calif., on September 22. The extraordinary talent of Mauricio “Shogun” Rua will already be on display. However, the Brazilian is up against the ultra tough Ryoto Machida in his Octagon debut. Jason Lambert, according to MMAWeekly.com, is slated to appear at UFC 76 and his opponent has not been determined. Regardless, a fight between Liddell and Lambert is hardly the attraction — or the test for Liddell — that fans are going to pay to see. And rising 205-pounder Rashad Evans is already lined up to rematch Tito Ortiz in his next contest thanks to a disappointing draw at the recent UFC 73 event. In addition, Michel Bisping is booked to face Matt Hamill at UFC 75. Keith Jardine is available, so too is fan-favorite Forrest Griffin — two popular contestants from The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) series. Those are the only two options on the table as far as this fan can see it. And Griffin — despite his loss to “The Dean of Mean” — seems like the more favorable option. Unless I’m missing something, this seems like an uphill battle for the UFC and its matchmaker, Joe Silva. It makes the prospect of a November return for Liddell seem that much more likely. Even then it’s a tough call — perhaps the loser of Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Dan Henderson at UFC 75 on September 8? Or, the loser of Rua-Machida on September 22? Time will tell, but the prospect of Liddell fighting in September against a worthy opponent seems highly unlikely now that Silva is out of the picture.
Unless, of course, as some readers have intelligently pointed out, UFC heavyweight standout Brandon Vera decides to return from hiatus at 205.

Both Belts On The Line At UFC 75: Champion vs Champion

UFC President Dana White confirmed after the event that the showdown between UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (27-6) and PRIDE FC Middleweight Champion Dan Henderson (22-5) at UFC 75 will be a unification bout. Seems like there was miscommunication or human error that caused all the confusion. There was also an incorrect report that surfaced recently, indicating just Rampage’s title would be at stake since the fight was taking place inside the Octagon. Not the case, according to White, who says that the 205-pound fight at the 02 Arena in London, England, on September 8 is designed to declare an undisputed world champion. For Henderson, it is the opportunity to become the most decorated mixed martial arts champion in the history of the sport. With a win, he’d hold a gaudy three titles in two different divisions in two separate promotions. “Hollywood” Henderson also holds the PRIDE FC welterweight belt — the equivalent of the UFC middleweight title (185-pound limit). Rampage will finally get the opportunity to fight for the Japanese title, an organization for which he fought in from 2001-2006 and racked up nearly 20 appearances. Without question now that it is confirmed from White that this will be a unification bout it appears that the UFC 75 main event will indeed be an historic event. For the first time ever a sole champion will be recognized as the best in the world at a respective weight class — something that seemed like a pipe dream just a year ago. And Henderson is on the verge of becoming a very, very busy man. As much as i hate rampage Jackson i really don't want to see Dan Henderson holding the light heavyweight belt in the UFC, the middleweight belt in pride, and the welterweight belt in pride so I'm torn on who i want to win so leave me a comment and tell me what you think!

Rumor has it that former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell would face former PRIDE FC middleweight champion Wanderlei Silva sometime this year. UFC President Dana White has been uncharacteristically careful about confirming the showdown since that time perhaps because he got burned bad when he publicly announced the fight in front of the world at UFC 61 … and it never happened. He’s even outright denied in interviews that it will happen as early as September. Today (Thursday), however, “The Axe Murderer” posted on his official site that the long-awaited clash is indeed booked. The hour has arrived! The date of the fight of Wanderlei Silva is confirmed. It will be day 22 of September, in U.S.A., place and schedule not yet defined. The confrontation between Wanderlei Silva and Chuck Liddell already had been divulged has about two months, and now it increases the expectation of the fans in following the final preparation. After many challenges, Liddell will have the chance to face intense Wanderlei, that are in constant preparation, treinos and an infinite will in winning this confrontation. President of the UFC Dana White has said that he has been trying to get this fight on the card for six years. Currently the fight at UFC 76 is scheduled to be the main event and even know its not a title fight its going to be one hell of a fight both men are excellent strikers. I am the biggest Chuck Liddell fan ever and of course i am rooting for Liddell however if he needs to be in the best shape for this fight because it be be a battle! Both Liddell and Silva have been trying to get this fight for along time and both men are going to be ready for this so i expect a great fight!

Rumors have arisen that The Former welterweight champion of the world Matt Hughes my be fighting the current middleweight champion Anderson Silva in 2008. Matt Hughes echoes in a recent post on his official Web site that he wants to fight for the middleweight title provided Rich "Ace" Franklin is not the champion. Rich "Ace" Franklin will challenge incumbent 185-pound king Anderson Silva in November for the middleweight champion. Matt Hughes has stated and I quote "If Rich losses then I would move up and fight Anderson. I would never fight Rich." Matt Hughes obviously has no intention on fighting Rick Franklin, but if Franklin loses (which is a great possibly) he would move up and take the belt from Silva. I don't know about all of you but i would hate to see Franklin lose to Silva however i think it would be a great match between Silva and Hughes. Anderson Silva has outstanding striking skills in my opinion he has the best Maui Thai skills in the UFC however i believe that it would it would be a battle between them and the reason is because Silva has been only been fighting strikers he has never had to fight anyone that is 5'9 and has the strenght, wrestling, and ground and pound ability that Matt Hughes possesses. I know it would be a great match and hopefully we will get the chance to see in the future.

Started in 1993, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) brand is in its fourteenth year of operation as a professional mixed martial arts organization offering the premier series of MMA sports events.
