The Conference invites leading experts from corporations, non-government organizations and academia to speak about how our region can leverage its unique characteristics, to fully participate in the global economy, while harnessing stronger relationships between the people of this region. It is a gateway for students who will be the future minds to continue building this region both economically and socially, and professionals to come and work together to find new business opportunities, the underlying theme of the Conference.

PNEC 2011 will focus on the following:

• Common economic issues facing the Pacific Northwest region
• Benefits and differences of the sociology and geography of the Pacific Northwest compared to one another
• The strengths and weaknesses of the region’s developing and thriving industries which will be captured in the following six topics: technology, sustainability, natural resources, Asia Pacific trade, real estate development, venture capital/entrepreneurship

ITINERARY

BASA has secured funding from the University of the Fraser Valley and UFV Student Union Society for the majority of the conference and hotel cost for the 50 UFV Students. The only direct cost to the UFV Student is a $5.00 registration fee. The conference fee and hotel fee will be covered for the first 50 students who register and pay. The hotel rooms are booked on 4 person occupancy. Transportation to and from the conference may be made available but is not guaranteed. The conference fee includes a Dinner Buffet on Friday evening and a Lunch Buffet on Saturday.  Students are responsible for their own breakfast on Saturday.  Students will also be required to provide credit card information at the hotel check-in for any extra charges or damages incurred during their stay.
