Sue Shelley Wins Citadel Heart of Learning Award

Greetings One and All,

Please join me in congratulating our very own Sue Shelley — she was named the Citadel Heart of Learning Award winner for the high school level last night. Sue was one of 38 Unionville - Chadds Ford School District teachers nominated and one of over 2,000 countywide. One student — who nominated Sue for the award — I think captures the moment perfectly — “Mrs. Shelley instilled in us, the students, a love of learning about other cultures, and most importantly, a love of learning.”

This is a well deserved honor. Sue is the embodiment of everything that is right and good in education today. Our students, our school, and our community benefit from her hard work and dedication – in short, she makes a difference.

Information about Keystone exams - May 20 and 22

As a reminder, any student who already took a Keystone exam in December 2012 and did not achieve a ”proficient” or "advanced" score in Literature and/or Algebra will be retested. Also, any student currently enrolled in Biology, Algebra l (any level), Concepts of Algebra B, and/or 10th grade English will also take a Keystone exam. The exams will be given using the dates/times in the link below.

Unite for HER grant applications now being accepted

Unite for HER is pleased to offer the students and staff of Unionville High School the opportunity to apply for a grant on behalf of a family member diagnosed with breast cancer.

This grant program was created to ease the emotional and financial burden experienced by families due to the high cost of care and treatment. Unite for HER will award a minimum of $1,000 and up to $2,500 in grants to recipients from Unionville HS. This grant is available to a student who has a parent, grandparent or sibling who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. It is also available to a staff member who has a personal diagnosis or immediate family member who has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

The deadline for grants to be received by Unite for HER is June 7th. Instructions and criteria for applying are detailed in the attached documents.
