'Orphan Black' Preview: Sneak Peak Of Season’s Penultimate Episode

Orphan Black, the BBC America sci-fi series, is winding down for the season, its first. A new sneak peak reveals that the penultimate episode of the season will pick up not long after the last, with Kira (Skyler Wexler) arriving at the hospital with her mother Sarah (Tatiana Maslany) who is overwhelmed with guilt.

The sneak peak shows Sarah and the others in the waiting room while Kira undergoes emergency surgery, blood all over her head and torso. “I should have known Alaina would find us,” says Sarah. “I should have stopped her.” Mrs. S (Maria Doyle Kennedy) and Felix (Jordan Gavaris) try to comfort her to no avail. In the operating room, the doctors spot something that alarms them on the monitor.

The description for Saturday’s episode, “Unconscious Selection,” reads, “After Kira’s life is threatened, Sarah is on the warpath, but Dr. Leekie makes her think twice about her plans for revenge. Meanwhile, Cosima faces the truth about Delphine, forcing her to choose sides. Now, it’s up to Sarah to decide the killer’s fate, but the truth about where Sarah came from changes everything.”

Orphan Black airs Saturday on BBC America at 9/8c.

Benedict Cumberbatch Shower Scene Cut From ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’

Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays villain Khan in Star Trek Into Darkness, had filmed a shower scene for the sci-fi sequel that didn’t make the cut in the director’s room.

This scene-cut revelation is coming on the heels of some backlash leveled at J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof for what was determined to be a gratuitous shot of Alice Eve in her underwear.

Lindelof took to Twitter to apologize and to essentially acknowledge that the nearly-nude scene served no narrative purpose. He also pointed out that Chris Pine had been shot shirtless for the film, but never mentioned the shower scene of Cumberbatch that movie viewers were robbed of.

When Abrams appeared on Conan on Wednesday, he came prepared with a clip of Cumberbatch’s axed moment in the shower. Essentially, Abrams, like Lindelof, opted to forgo a denial of objectifying the naked/ half-naked body, and instead made the case that they take an equal-opportunity approach with their more gratuitous scenes.

Katherine Webb Eats Just 1,120 Calories Per Day

Katherine Webb, the former Miss Alabama, revealed that she consumes only about 1,120 calories a day in a recent interview with People.

Webb’s daily diet might consist of a “homemade smoothie for breakfast, green apple for snack, spinach salad with almonds and strawberries for lunch, frozen yogurt bar for snack and grilled chicken fingers with sweet potato fries for dinner,” reported the magazine.

The model shot to superstardom during the BCS championship game between Alabama, where her boyfriend A.J. McCarron was the star quarterback, and Notre Dame. ESPN announcer Brent Musberger couldn’t help commenting on the QB’s girlfriend’s attractive appearance. "What a beautiful woman! Wow! Whoa!," Musberger gushed.

Since then, Webb has appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition and was a contestant on diving reality TV series Splash. Now, she’s going to appear in People’s “Most Talked About Bodies” issue.

Webb, 24, works out three times a day, and is strictest with herself right before a pageant or shoot. "I cut out any type of bread product, and cake, cookies, bagels," she says. "When I eat a lot of sugar, I tend to bloat more." But she does let herself indulge every once in awhile. "I treat myself to an unhealthy meal sometimes," she said. "I usually go for all-American buffalo wings and French fries."

Although Webb talks about her self-control, there are many of the opinion that she might want to consider relaxing her strict diet. At 5’11, a healthy weight is between 133 and 179 pounds, according to BMI calculators. Even if Webb weighed at the lowest end of that spectrum and was inactive, she should be eating at least 1,750 calories a day, according to Mayo Clinic’s calorie calculator.

Jodi Arias Trial Update: Jury Panel Fails To Reach Unanimous Decision On Death Penalty

Jodi Arias still doesn’t know whether or not she’ll receive the death penalty for the murder of boyfriend Travis Alexander. After convicting Arias of first-degree murder, the jury panel was unable to determine whether or not Arias should be punished by death, reported The Huffington Post.

The jury of eight men and four women, who have been sitting in the courtroom of the murder trial since it began in January, reached a “non-unanimous agreement” verdict on Thursday. After a three-day penalty phase of the trial, the jury deliberated for over 13 hours in which they were unable to agree on Arias’ penalty.

According to Arizona law, a new jury must be selected that will aim to reach a conclusive decision on Arias’ sentencing for the brutal 2008 murder. This new jury will reportedly be selected on July 18. If they too are unable to reach a unanimous verdict, the judge will assume the responsibility of sentencing. However, the judge will be unable to sentence Arias to the death penalty. He or she will decide between sentencing her to life behind bars without the possibility of parole, or a life sentence with the possibility of parole after 25 years in prison.

The prosecution, led by attorney Juan Martinez, has the option of offering a plea deal of life in prison. Following the non-verdict verdict, they stated they would be weighing their options. One of the factors Martinez and the rest of the prosecution will likely be weighting is the likelihood of the new jury being selected from a different city.

During the penalty phase of the trial, Martinez had pushed for the death penalty. “Do the honest, right thing, even though it may be difficult," Martinez said. "The only thing that you can do … is to return a verdict of death."

Jennifer Wilmott of Arias’ defense team, pled with the jury to spare her client’s life, arguing, “You have convicted her of first-degree murder. She does not need to be sentenced to death because of her lies. Jodi's life, despite what she has done, is worth saving."

Although Arias previously claimed that she would prefer the death penalty to life in prison, she has since reversed her position and asked the jury last week to let her live. Arias credits discussions with family members for renewing her desire to live.

AmFar Gala At Cannes, Hosted By Sharon Stone, Raises Millions For AIDS Research

The AmFar Cinema Against AIDS gala, a perennial staple of the Cannes Film Festival, celebrated its 20^th anniversary by raising nearly $25 million for AIDS research.

Sharon Stone, taking over from the late Elizabeth Taylor, hosted the event at the French Riviera’s Hotel Du Cap, which overlooks the sea. In attendance were some of film’s biggest names, including Harvey Weinstein, Nicole Kidman, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jessica Chastain, Christoph Waltz and more. Janet Jackson, a longtime AIDS prevention and research advocate, chaired the event.

Among the items auctioned off at the 20^th Cinema Against AIDS gala were a 53-carat diamond necklace, a family portrait taken by Annie Leibovitz, a week at Donna Karan’s Caribbean digs and even a trip into space. The trip on a Virgin Galactic spaceship, which will be alongside DiCaprio, went for $1.5 million.

Of course, there was also a catwalk show, which was aptly titled, The Ultimate Gold Collection. Curated by Carine Roitfield, it featured black and gold ensembles from Prada, Chanel, Valentino, Givenchy and Dior . Alessandro Ambosio and Karolina Kurkova were among the models showcasing the designs. All of the designs were sold to a single bidder for the astounding sun of $1.5 million.

Entertainment for the gold-themed night included Shirley Bassey revisiting James Bond theme “Goldfinger,” and also performances by Duran Duran and Ellie Goulding.

Skagit River Bridge In Washington State Collapses, No Fatalities

The Skagit River Bridge that crosses over the Washington state river collapsed Thursday evening after an oversized truck hit a steel span, reported the Detroit Free Press. Two vehicles were thrown into water, leading to the hospitalization of three individuals with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Washington State Patrol chief John Batiste.

Built in 1955, the 1,111-foot bridge, made of steel and concrete, is listed as "fracture critical" by the National Bridge Inventory, reported The Seattle Times. When a bridge is “fracture critical,” the destruction of one major part can collapse the entire structure. Conversely, bridges with redundant features can weather the damage of one major part and remain intact.

Husband and wife Dan and Sally Sligh were two of the individuals who were thrown from the Skagit River Bridge on Thursday. Dan, whose shoulder was dislocated during the incident, managed to keep his unconscious wife’s head above the water until rescue crews arrived on the scene. Another man managed to wait for help on the roof of his car.

The destroyed bridge is a part of Washington’s Interstate-5, which serves as the main route for those travelling between Seattle and Canada. Since the bridge will take weeks to be repaired and typically carries about 70,000 cars a day, its collapse will surely be a source of aggravation to commuters.

The National Transportation Safety Board has announced plans to conduct an investigation into the bridge collapse.

Nina Agdal Subs In For Kate Upton As Jake Davidson’s Prom Date

Jake Davidson posted a video earlier this year in which he creatively asked super model and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition cover girl Kate Upton to go to prom with him. Upton, although flattered by the video proposal, couldn’t fit the prom into her busy schedule. But Davidson wasn’t disappointed for long, as Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition’s 2012 Rookie of the Year Nina Agdal jumped at the chance to accompany him.

"Jake was waiting to hear from Kate and when Nina heard about it she said, 'If Kate can't go, I'd like to go' because she never got to go to her prom," the young man’s mother, Cheryl Davidson told The Sun.

Not only did Agdal show up for Davidson's prom, she also spent the whole day leading up to it with him before they headed over to the Annenberg Community Beach House in Santa Monica. The super model wore a moss green halter-top gown, while Davidson got spiffy in a charcoal gray tuxedo with a black bow tie.

"This prom has been incredible," Davidson said after the event. "Nina Agdal is like so down to earth. Really cool, really nice. It was a great day,” he gushed. “I really enjoyed it."

Agnal echoed Davidson’s sentiments, tweeting a photo of the them as a prom couple on Thursday night with the caption, “Had such a great prom night. Thank you @jakedavidson23 for being an awesome date!"

‘Fast & Furious 6’ Opens To Mostly Positive Reviews

Fast & Furious 6, the latest installment in the high-octane car heist blockbuster franchise, opened May. 24 to mostly positive reviews from critics. It’s the kind of movie that earns its stars based on its ability to deliver on the promise of thrills from a high stakes game that culminates with a predicable ending. It’s not going to win an Oscar, but it’s going to please fans of big summer blockbusters.

In the words of David Hiltbrand of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the film is “saturated with more firepower, more havoc, more special effects, more pedal-through-the-metal chase scenes and far more property destruction. The plot and dialogue are still stilted and stupid, but that only proves that Justin Lin, who has directed the last four F & Fs, has his priorities straight.”

The Boston Globe’s Tom Russo would agree, writing, “For their own part, Vin Diesel and the “F&F” handlers seem eager to assert how they’ve molded a series of installments into, yep, a saga, complete with expansive, twisty continuity. “

Also a fan was The New York Times’ Neil Genzlinger. “Flashy smashes and a climactic sequence, in which the good guys try to prevent Shaw from taking off in an airliner by tethering their cars to it, make the movie a satisfying thrill ride, at least on a par with the earlier installments,” he wrote.

Steven Whitty of The Star-Ledger was not quite as impressed. Although he, like the other critics, could see that it was visually everything it needed to be, he couldn’t get over what he found to be shoddy acting. “[Michelle] Rodriguez plays the one emotion she can (sullen anger) with the one trick she has (take a beat, look down or sideways, then look back and slowly say the line),” he wrote. “Paul Walker still looks like a slightly surprised Abercrombie & Fitch model; Vin Diesel has all the expressiveness of a knuckle. The vein-popping Dwayne Johnson does the same shtick he's already done in at least three movies since January.”

Fast & Furious 6 begins with the crew, wealthy from their winnings from their last heist, on the lam from the law and scattered about the globe. But when Hobbs (Johnson) is led to the discovery of a deadly organization of mercenary drivers with Letty (Rodriguez) as their second-in-command, he’s forced to offer the group pardons so they can unite and help him take down the ruthless new organization.

Amanda Bynes Busted For Pot, Taken For Psych Evaluation

Amanda Bynes, the former Nickelodeon actress, was arrested in her midtown Manhattan apartment after allegedly throwing a bong out the window on Thursday evening. After Bynes submitted to a psychiatric evaluation, she was booked for reckless endangerment, tampering with evidence and criminal possession of marijuana.

A building official had put a call into authorities yesterday to report that the What A Girl Wants star was rolling a joint and smoking marijuana in the apartment building’s lobby, according to police. When officers arrived at Bynes’s apartment, they reported that there was a cloud of smoke and a bong, which she proceeded to throw out the window.

Bynes, 27, was taken to Roosevelt Hospital following the incident and put under psychiatric observation. She was then taken to a midtown police station, where she spent the night. She is scheduled to stand before a judge Friday.

This is the latest in a long string of odd behavior from the former child star and self-professed retired millionaire. Through her Twitter account, she’s revealed a shocking new look that includes wild platinum blond hair, cheek piercings and gaudy makeup. She’s been kicked out of a slew of workout facilities for disturbing classes, and has taken to tweeting vulgar thoughts about rapper Drake.

After a series of car accidents and DUI arrests in Los Angeles, Bynes made the move to New York City in September of last year. There have been reports that her L.A.-based family would like her move back to the area so that they could look after her, but are limited in what they can do since she’s an adult. This latest incident, however, could finally force the troubled star to get the help she might need.

Abercrombie & Fitch Apologizes For CEO Mike Jeffries' Comments

Abercrombie & Fitch, or more specifically, CEO Mike Jeffries, has received significant backlash for controversial statements regarding the “type” of people the brand wants in its stores. Although Jeffries issued a statement last week (with no hint of real remorse), the voices of those speaking out against Abercrombie have only gotten louder, inspiring an official corporate statement of apology.

“We look forward to continuing this dialogue and taking concrete steps to demonstrate our commitment to anti-bullying in addition to our ongoing support of diversity and inclusion,” read the statement. “We want to reiterate that we sincerely regret and apologize for any offense caused by comments we have made in the past which are contrary to these values.”

Abercrombie released the above statement following a meeting with 18-year-old activist Benjamin O’Keefe, who started the Change.org petition to urge the company to offer larger sizes. O’Keefe, who has suffered with an eating disorder in the past, went with other members of the National Eating Disorder Association to Abercrombie’s Columbus Ohio headquarters.

Jeffries unapologetic statement last week, after company policies were revealed and framed by damning 2006 quotes from the CEO, read, “While I believe this 7 year old, resurrected quote has been taken out of context, I sincerely regret that my choice of words was interpreted in a manner that has caused offense.“ He then added, "A&F is an aspirational brand that, like most specialty apparel brands, targets its marketing at a particular segment of customers.”

Ellen DeGeneres and blogger Jess Baker have both spoken out against the mass retailer. In a recent monologue DeGeneres quipped, “Fitch, please!” Baker, who admittedly doesn’t fit the mold of Jeffries' ideal model, did a mock "Attractive & Fat" ad in the brand’s clothing.

Olivia Williams Discusses ‘Last Days On Mars’ At Cannes Film Festival [Exclusive Video]

Olivia Williams, who stars in Last Days On Mars alongside Liev Schreiber, spoke with Uinterview exclusively about the new sci-fi movie at the Cannes Film Festival.

Williams, who is admittedly picky when it comes to choosing her next project, was won over by the script for Last Days On Mars, written by Clive Dawson and adapted from the short story written by Sydney J. Bounds. “I’m really bad at reading scripts, and if I don’t like them, well…. It’s not that I don’t like them; I just tend to fall asleep around page 36 usually,” Williams told Uinterview. “For this one, I read it straight through and I loved it.”

In the film, Williams plays astronaut Kim Aldrich, who launches into Mars with a group of fellow astronauts to collect specimens and end up facing an unexpected threat. Astronaut Aldrich, like the First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt that Williams played in Hyde Park On Hudson, is certainly not one to be messed with. “[Aldrich] is as popular as every woman in history who thinks she’s always right,” joked Williams. “I just played Eleanor Roosevelt, Eleanor Roosevelt basically in a space suit. I wanted to play more of Eleanor; I mean I’m not kidding!”

Last Day on Mars, directed by Ruairi Robinson, is set to be released on Sept. 19 in the UK.

‘The Hangover 3’ Gets Slammed By Critics

The Hangover III opened in theaters to scathing reviews from critics, who generally liked it even less than The Hangover II, which many had slammed as an unimaginative carbon copy of the franchise's first installment. Movie review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes rates the film as only 24% fresh.

One of the biggest complaints about The Hangover III is that, contrary to what the title suggests, there’s no hangover to speak of. The storyline of the film revolves around Wolfpack members Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms) and Doug (Justin Bartha) taking Alan (played by Zach Galifanakis/ the one who gave the group their K9 moniker), to a rehab facility after his dad passes away. There’s a kidnapping, there’s Mr. Chow (Ken Jeong), but no memory-less morning after.

Giving the film just half of a star, the New York Post’s Kyle Smith wrote, "The good news is that The Hangover Part III isn't a rerun like the second episode. The bad news is everything else. For all the promise of mayhem and WTF moments, the final episode hits you with all the force of a warm can of O'Doul's.”

“Hangover Part III is dully straightforward stuff, with none of the jack-in-the-trunk surprises and little of the inspired crassness of the original “Hangover,” wrote Ty Burr of the Boston Globe, who gave the film 1.5 out of 4 stars in one of the better star-ratings from a top critic.

The Washington Post’s Michael O’Sullivan was likewise bored by the latest installment. “This third Hangover is dull,” he said plainly. “Coupled with its logic headaches, it left me feeling like I needed an Alka-Seltzer Plus. Anything to add a little fizzy relief to these flat and unfunny proceedings,” he quipped.

Written and directed by Todd Phillips, with help on the script by Craig Manzin, The Hangover III is currently in wide release. And although the critics are panning it, according to Rotten Tomatoes, 88% of average viewers give it a thumbs up.

The Hangover III is rated R for language, sexual references, some violence and drug content, and brief graphic nudity.

Meredith Phillips, Former 'The Bachelorette' Star, Opens Up About Her Battle With Alcoholism

Meredith Phillips, the star of The Bachelorette season 2, opened up about her long battle with alcoholism and her recent turn to sobriety in the upcoming issue of People magazine.

"For years I'd wake up every day feeling like I was hit by a truck," said Phillips. "But I realized I was going to kill myself," she says. "There wasn't another path for me other than to stop. I'm finally starting to live my life again."

Phillips revealed that during the darkest patches of her addiction she was drinking over 20 bottles of wine a week. The copious amounts of alcohol caused her to have almost daily blackouts. She has now been sober for more than 150 days and counting.

"I need to get back in the gym. I should really be taking better care of myself," she told the magazine. "But I really can only focus on one thing at a time right now."

Phillips was on the fourth season of The Bachelor until Bob Guiney broke her heart. She was then featured on the second season of The Bachelorette, where she gave the final rose to Ian McKee. The pair broke up in Feburary 2005.

Miranda Kerr’s Instagram Photo Gets Angry Response From Orlando Bloom Fans

Miranda Kerr posted a photograph of herself with fashion photographer Mariano Vivanco, in which his arms are wrapped tightly around her cleavage-bearing chest. The photo, posted on Kerr’s Instagram page, has elicited an overwhelmingly negative response from fans of her husband Orlando Bloom.

“I don’t think she respects her husband at all,” commented one. “I don’t think Orlando would be too happy,” said another.

Kerr, who likely has a professional relationship with the photographer, had tweeted, “Shooting with @marianovivanco today!” along with the photograph.

While there were a number of Twitter users who expressed their outrage over the innocent shot, there were also commenters who felt the upheaval was unfounded. “I hug people all the time. Regardless of gender, regardless of whether or not I’m taken,” one person said. “Chill out guys. It’s just a hug. No reason to make a big deal out of nothing,” a sensible-sounding commenter added.

Kerr and Bloom’s marriage has been rumored to be rocky lately. Kerr quit her job as a Victoria’s secret model to spend more time with her husband and their son Flynn earlier this year.

‘Game Of Thrones’ Actress Opts Out Of Future Nude Scenes

One of the female stars on HBO’s Game of Thrones is refusing to film any more nude scenes, according to Oona Chaplin, who plays Talisa Maegyr on the show. The unnamed actress, according to Chaplin, finds the frequent full-frontal nudity gratuitous.

“One of the girls in the show who got her kit off the most in the first couple of seasons now doesn’t at all,” Chaplin told the UK’s Telegraph. “Because she said, 'I want to be known for my acting not for my breasts.’ ”

There’s speculation that the actress Chaplin is referencing is Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, the exiled princess and Dragon Queen who is determined to find her way back to the “Iron Throne.” Clarke is one of the actresses who strips down the most on the medieval fantasy series. Although not as frequently in the current season, she was shot fully nude for Sunday’s episode.

The unnamed Game of Thrones actress could also be Esme Bianco, who played the prostitute Ros. Playing a prostitute, Bianco was frequently pictured naked, but her character was killed off earlier this season. A result of a refusal to do more nude scenes?

Chaplin personally has no qualms about getting naked on screen, or about anyone else baring it all for that matter. “I’m quite controversial when it comes to that because I adore women’s bodies,” she said. “If it’s done in a beautiful way, in a way that honors the female form, then I’m always happy to see it.”

Games of Thrones airs Sundays on HBO at 9/8c.

‘Nashville’ Finale Recap: Deacon And Rayna Get Into An Accident, Gunner Proposes To Scarlett

Nashville’s season one finale began with a tired looking Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) trying her best to deal with the police. Meanwhile, Rayna (Connie Britton) talks to her kids about going with Deacon(Charles Esten) to the Country Music Awards, Gunner (Sam Palladio) finally admits to having stolen his brother’s lyrics and Scarlett (Clare Bowen) is mad at Will and contemplates taking up Avery’s (Jonathan Jackson) invitation to come by his gig.

When Deacon attempts to apologize to Juliette, he’s met with the cold shoulder. She’s more concerned about singing at the CMA’s, feeling somewhat unburdened by her mother’s death. However, Maddie (Lennon Stella) definitely has something to say to Deacon. She tells him that it’s possible that he’s her father. After watching Rayna and Brad Paisley (as himself) perform “Bitter Memory,” Deacon asks Rayna if it’s true that he’s 13-year-old Maddie’s father. She admits that it is true, and explains that it was his alcoholism that led to her decision to cut him out of the picture and raise Maddie with Teddy (Eric Close).

Maddie, isn’t handling the revelation well at all, and is irate that her mother kept her true paternity a secret for so long. She wants to move in with Teddy. Deacon, likewise, is completely thrown about his newfound fatherhood. He handles it by paying a visit to a bar and breaking his vow of sobriety. Rayna is rightfully worried that the news would lead him to a binge drinking session, as he drunkenly unleashes his anger at Teddy for having kept the secret.

Scarlett does ultimately wind up at Avery’s performance, and even gets up on stage to join him at his behest. Gunner arrives at the bar in the midst of their duet. When Gunner goes to talk to Deacon the next day, he notices he’s drunk. Deacon proceeds to throw things around as Gunnar puts in a call to his sponsor. When Deacon wakes up, he claims he’s going to go to an AA meeting, but takes a drink of hard liquor in the next breath.

Juliette eventually decides to opt out of the CMAs, choosing instead to pay a visit to her mother’s body and feels the full weight of her loss. When she finds out that she won a CMA award the next morning, she’s entirely unmoved; her mother’s funeral is later that day. The police eventually tell Juliette that she can take back the apartment, as they’ve finished their investigation of the crime scene. It would give her peace, but then she finds a letter from her mom that reveals she had been trying to save her.

In the finale’s final moments, Juliette sings a tribute to her mother at the Bluebird. A drunk Deacon tries to leave and drive home, but Rayna takes his keys and drives him as they fight with one another. He’s drinking in the passenger seat and she’s trying to get him to stop, then, all of the sudden, Deacon’s car is shown flipping over and over across the road. Meanwhile, Gunnar proposes to Scarlett.

Answers to whether or not Rayna and Deacon survive, and if Scarlett says yes to Gunner will have to wait until Nashville's season 2 premiere.

‘Modern Family’ Recap: Phil Attends His Mother’s Funeral, Gloria Is In Trouble With The Law

Modern Family’s season finale was centered around the death of Phil’s mother Gracie. The whole family makes the trip from California to Florida to be with the emotional Dunphy patriarch as he copes with his loss and attend the funeral.

When they arrive in Florida, Phil (Ty Burrell) is presented with a box that was left by his mother for him and the children. In it, he finds a letter in which his mom posthumously asks him to set his now-widowered father up with a woman named Annie who lives down the street. After an awkward encounter where Claire (Julie Bowen) and Phil believe that she’s already shacked up with someone, Phil returns when he finds out it was only her brother. He begins to talk about his mother to Annie, who hugs him when he starts to get emotional.

Meanwhile, under the guise of traditional Colombian mourning practices, Gloria (Sofia Vergara) hides her face behind a black veil to match her ebony ensemble. Truth is, Gloria is a wanted woman in Florida; her old roommate turned their apartment into the headquarters of a prostitution ring and hadn’t taken her name off of the lease. Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) ends up volunteering to help her in court, and winds up litigating (successfully) for the rest of the people there to make their case before the judge using his best courtroom theatrics. Gloria’s case is also eventually dismissed, and Mitch gets motivated to quit his desk job and get back to litigation.

Cam (Eric Stonestreet), unaware of Mitchell’s new career plans, is mingling with a group of older women in a retirement village. What starts off as an innocent discussion about books, evolves into a game of scrabble, then descends into gossip-fueled chaos when Cam accuses one of the women of cheating. And then he slanders another woman for eating all the cookies, and another for drinking.

When Jay (Ed O'Neill) is introduced to a neighbor, he recognizes her as someone from his past. Turns out, the woman took his virginity in the days leading up to his deployment to war. After unsuccessfully trying to jog her memory, he discovers that he was but one of many young men for whom she provided the intimate sendoff.

At the funeral, Alex (Ariel Winter) rises to say a few words about her late grandmother, with whom she always felt a special kinship. She takes out the gift that Gracie had left her in the box, a lighter, and ignites fireworks on her behalf. Gracie’s message to Alex was that she had uncharacteristically stolen the lighter at a restaurant she had once worked at. A man saw her and told her the secret was safe with him. That man turned out to be her husband, Phil’s dad, Alex’s grandfather (Fred Willard). Message beneath the message: Breaking the rules sometimes has amazing consequences.

Filled with both laughs and tender moments of emotion, ‘Goodbye, Gracie’ was a great episode to cap off Modern Family’s fourth season.

Sergio Garcia Under Fire For Racist Jibe At Tiger Woods, Apologizes

Sergio Garcia landed in hot water when he made a clearly racist jibe at fellow golfer Tiger Woods at the European Tour Player Awards gala on Tuesday night. Although he's apologized, he still might face backlash from sponsors, reported ESPN.

When Garcia was asked at the party if he would invite Woods, whom he claimed to have a long-standing feud with during the Players Championship, to dinner during the US Open, Garcia said, “We will have him around every night,” he said, “And we will serve fried chicken.”

The European Tour’s public relations staff quickly took action to diffuse the ill-advised quip, issuing a statement on Garcia’s behalf later on Tuesday night. The statement indicated that he had regretted the “silly remark,” but denied it had any racial implications.

Woods was duly unimpressed by the apology, and not amused in the slightest. “The comment that was made wasn’t silly. It was wrong, hurtful and clearly inappropriate…,” wrote Woods on his Twitter page. “I’m confident that there is real regret that the remark was made,” he added.

Garcia attempted to apologize again on Wednesday during an impromptu press conference. First apologizing to his Ryder Cup teammates, and then to Woods, he still refused to cop to any racist intent. "I want to apologize to Tiger and anybody that I could have offended," Garcia said. "I feel sick about it. I'm truly, truly sorry. And I hope we can kind of settle things down and hopefully move on."

Back in 1997, Fuzzy Zoeller, a former Masters champ was referring to Woods when he told a TV crew, “That little boy is driving well, and he's putting well,” he said. “He's doing everything it takes to win. So, you know what you guys do when he gets in here? You pat him on the back and say congratulations and enjoy it and tell him not to serve fried chicken next year.

“Got it? ... Or collard greens or whatever the hell they serve.”

Although Garcia’s remarks were a bit less flagrant, both golfers tried to use the same exhausted stereotype of African Americans for a laugh. After Zoeller’s remarks, he lost his sponsors.

“Sergio Garcia’s recent comment was offensive and in no way aligns with TaylorMade-adidas Golf’s values and corporate culture,” the company, who sponsors Garcia, said in a statement. “We have spoken with Sergio directly, and he clearly has regret for his statement and we believe he is sincere.

“We discussed with Sergio that his comments are clearly out of bounds, and we are continuing to review the matter.”

‘Dancing With the Stars’ Recap: Kellie Pickler Wins Mirror Ball Trophy

Kellie Pickler is the last celebrity standing on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars, becoming the winner of season 16 of the dancing competition with her pro partner Derek Hough.

The country singer and former American Idol contestant was truly in shock when host Tom Bergeron announced that she was the champion. “Oh my god,” she exclaimed. Then, when Bergeron asked if she had pictured the win, she replied, “No, not at all. This is amazing. Oh my God.”

On Monday night, Pickler and Hough ended up in second place on the leader board, behind Zendaya Coleman and Val Chmerkovskiy. They had received perfect scores for their quickstep and “super-size freestyle” contemporary routine, which was arguably the best performance of the night. But the judges put them in second place for their “cha cha relay.” Votes from the viewers, however, tipped the final scale in their favor.

Disney star Zendaya ended up in second place, followed by Baltimore Raven Jacoby Jones and gymnast Aly Raisman in fourth.

When Dancing With the Stars returns for its 17th season, it will no longer have a results show. All the action will take place in their 2-hour Monday night block.

Emma Roberts Joins Boyfriend Evan Peters On ‘American Horror Story: Coven’

Emma Roberts will be joining her longtime boyfriend Evan Peters in the next season of American Horror Story, which is subtitled Coven.

Roberts, who is known for her role in Unfabulous, will play a “self-involved party girl” named Madison, reported TVLine. Other new castmembers for the series' third season include Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Patti LuPone and Gabourey Sidibe.

In addition to Roberts, returning castmembers of the series include Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Frances Conroy and Taissa Farmiga.

Filming for Coven will be kicking off in New Orleans in the near future, but little else is known about the next season of the FX horror show except that it will revolve around a “coven” of witches. Brad Falchuk, previously teased Coven as “a really cool story we’ve been talking about for a couple of years. So we’re going to do that.”

Although it’s uncertain how Peters feels about his girlfriend joining him on set, it would be fair to assume that Roberts is looking forward to it based on comments she made earlier this month after attending the Tribeca Film Festival with Peters. "It was nice, because the work stuff gets boring sometimes," she told E! News. “So to have your friends and family and your boyfriend there, it makes it a lot easier and a lot more fun."

American Horror Story: Coven will premiere on FX in October.

Ibragim Todashev, Man Tied To Boston Triple-Homicide And Tsarnaevs, Shot Dead By FBI In Florida

Ibragim Todashev, who was gunned down by the FBI in Florida on Wednesday, is reportedly connected to the Boston triple-homicide that took the life of Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s good friend, according to CNN.

Todashev attended the same Boston mixed martial arts center as the late Boston Marathon bombing suspect. He even had the older Tsarnaev’s number still in his cell phone, according to a source. Both Todashev and Tamerlan were also members of MMA forum Sherdog.com, of which William Plotnikov, a Russian-Canadian boxer who later became a jihadist, was also a member.

Plotikov died in a firefight with Russian forces in 2012 in Dagestan during the time that Tamerlan had also been visiting the region. Authorities in Orlando killed Todashev out of self-defense during their investigation into his involvement in the 2011 slayings.

Todshev, 27, was also acquainted with Tamerlan’s younger brother Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Dzhokhar is currently being held at a federal prison in Massachusetts.

Melissa McCarthy Fires Extra For Mistreating Child

Melissa McCarthy, the Mike & Molly and Bridesmaids star, fired an extra off of the set of her new movie Tammy who was mistreating her own child, reported TMZ.

The extra, reportedly in her 20s, had brought her child along for the shoot – which included over 200 extras and took place by a lake –for the standard extra payout of $58. The child, roughly four or five, was misbehaving. Although the mother tried to calm and quiet down her child, the kid continued to be disruptive to production.

In an attempt to get the kid to stop acting up, the young mom violently lifted the child up in the air by the arm. When McCarthy saw the interaction, she arranged for PAs to remove the woman from the film set, stating that she would not tolerate abuse on her watch.

Tammy, written and directed by McCarthy and her husband Ben Falcone, is due in theaters next summer. It tells the story of a woman who goes on a road trip with her alcoholic mother after getting fired from her job at a fast food restaurant and discovering that her husband cheated.

Susan Sarandon, Dan Aykroyd, Allison Janney and Kathy Bates are all set to star in the comedy flick that has McCarthy in the lead role.

Jodi Arias Asks The Jury To Spare Her Life

Jodi Arias, the convicted murderer of boyfriend Jason Alexander, addressed the jury in the final phase of her trial and asked them to spare her life.

Her statement, a direct address to the jury, ran for nearly 20 minutes in which she frequently broke into quiet tears. Like during her testimony, she asserted that she had been abused and had killed Alexander in self-defense after feeling physically threatened.

She told the jury that killing Alexander was “the worst mistake” and “the worst thing I’ve ever done.” Although she claimed it was hard to believe that she was guilty of such an atrocity, “I know that I was, and that I’m going to be sorry for the rest of my life – probably longer.”

Arias, pleading for her life, claimed that if she were allowed to live that she would be a productive member of society. She claimed that she would teach fellow prisoners to read and perform acts of charity from behind bars.

The convicted murderer also referenced her past statements, which suggested that she would prefer the death penalty to life in prison. "Each time I said that, though I meant it," she said, "I lacked perspective." She has credited her family for reinstilling in her the desire to live.

Arias defense attorney Jennifer Willmott argued that Arias’ lack of a prior criminal history and her young age should keep the jury from sentencing her to die. Prosecutor Juan Martinez counter-argued that sparing her life would be giving her something she’s no longer entitled to. "You have a duty, and that duty really means that you actually do the honest, right thing, even though it may be difficult," he said.

If sentenced to death by a unanimous vote by the jury, Arias will be the fourth woman on Arizona’s death row.

Will Forte Writing Sequel To 'MacGruber' – 'Thing I'm Most Proud Of' [Exclusive]

Will Forte announced to a surprised audience at the Cannes Film Festival Wednesday that he is starting to work on writing a sequel to his movie MacGruber, which was a box office dud bringing in just $8.4 million during its 2010 release. Forte, who popularized the character through numerous Saturday Night Live sketches during his run on the show, is at the festival promoting Nebraska, the Alexander Payne film in which he plays a man traveling with his father suffering from dementia. MacGruber, which starred Kristin Wiig and Ryan Phillippe, "is the thing I'm most proud of," Forte told an audience at the In the Conversation series at the Cannes American Pavilion sponsored by SodaStream. "You tend to judge a movie by how it does at the box office, but that movie was exactly how we wanted it."

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Spoilers: Is Richard Dead? Will Calzona Survive?

Greys Anatomy wrapped up its ninth season last Thursday, leaving many of its beloved characters' storylines on emotional cliffhangers. Richard (James Pickens Jr.) is shown lying unconscious on the ground, likely electrocuted and potentially dead. Callie (Sara Ramirez) discovers Arizona’s (Jessica Capshaw) infidelities and that she’s nowhere near over the amputation performed by her wife’s hands. Owen (Kevin McKidd) and Christina (Sandra Oh) break up – again.

Playing it close to the chest, Shonda Rimes is hesitant to say too much about the true fate of the former chief of Seattle Grace, but she will say we’ll be seeing Pickens again. “ I love that people are asking [whether or not Richard is dead],” Rhimes told Entertainment Weekly. “I’m not going to answer it because I like that it’s a question. I will tell you that you will see Jim Pickens again, but I’m not going to answer the question.”

Rimes was more open about talking about what happened with Callie and Arizona, the married mothers of one. “Callie made a decision that saved Arizona’s life — and you get to the end of the season and clearly Arizona has been blaming her for this entire time,” she told EW. “Really, that’s what sort of sparked all this behavior.” Rimes, who is known for the diversity she showcases on her shows, intentionally wanted to show a real rift between the wives. “I feel like a lot of LGBT characters on television — and I hopefully don’t fall into this category — are sort of sanitized for our protection,” she said.

“They are happily in love and they hardly ever do anything wrong and they never cheat and they’re never too sexual and they don’t have any other storylines except about them being gay,” she added. “I felt like I wanted to give them a complex storyline that wasn’t about that.”

And as for Cristina and Owen, the tempestuous couple whose wants have been pulling them apart for years only to have their passion for each other pull them back together, Rimes suggests that they might finally be done for good. “I feel like there’s a sense that this is the end of the journey that they’ve been on for two seasons that was sort of messed up by the fact that she was in the plane crash….they were finally forced to have the conversation that neither of them wanted to have and it was a very honest conversation. She walked away and he did not follow.”

Another couple Grey’s viewers might be curious about is Jo (Camilla Luddington) and Alex (Justin Chambers), who finally kissed one another in the season finale. Luddington, for one, doesn’t have a clue as to where their storyline is headed. “I have absolutely no idea,” Luddington told Elle.“You never know what's going to happen — if suddenly [his ex-girlfriend] Lucy will come back or I get killed by a tree — you just don't know.”

Luddington might not know what’s in the season 10 scripts, but she certainly knows her show’s creator.

‘Grimm’ Finale Recap: Nick Ends Up In A Coffin

Grimm’s second season finale picked up with Nick ( David Giuntoli) and Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch) spending the night together – the first since she’s gotten her memory back. Nick is apologetic that he didn’t explain who he was earlier, and tells her that he thought it might have been too difficult for her to wrap her head around. She’s entirely forgiving and they fall right back into love.

Across town, Baron Samedi (Reg. E. Cathy) lets loose his army of the undead. Beaming with pride, he sits back and relaxes as they terrorize the Portland, assaulting people and destroying property. The havoc leads Renard to call Nick and ask that he come in. When Nick gets to the station, Renard (Sasha Roiz) brings him up to speed. He tells him that files were discovered in Eric’s (James Frain) desk, that they include death certificates and passports, and that one file is on Thomas Schirach.

Although the threat the files pose is sure to be worrisome, Nick first has to deal with Samedi’s undead rampaging through the city. Furthermore, Lilly O’Hara, who had been missing, had apparently teamed up with a truck driver named Al. Nick and Wu find them and chase them up a stairwell. Lilly manages to evade capture after taking Wu out with a bite on the leg. Thankfully, Nick’s able to capture Al and load him into the car with Hank (Russell Hornsby).

Hank and Nick take him to the spice shop, where the group tries to get information out of him about Samedi’s undead. Rosalee (Bree Turner) finds an antidote that should reverse the trance that they’re in, which will require an instrument with three needles to administer. She needs to act fast, as the antidote only works in their current stage of the trance, the fourth. Nick and Hank leave the task to Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) and Rosalee, as they leave to follow another lead.

When Al wakes up, Monroe has to punch him to subdue him, allowing Rosalee the opportunity to give him his first dosage. When Al wakes up a second time, he’s cured of the trance. Although disoriented and frightened, it’s clear that Rosalee has successfully made the antidote cocktail.

Meanwhile, Nick and Hank follow the Buick Centurios, which leads them to Richard Mulpus. Nick then returns home briefly after finding candles and voodoo paraphernalia via the Buick chase. He starts to tell Julia all about the case, when Monroe calls him and tells him about Al’s status. Nick brings Juliette to the spice house to talk to Al, who tells them all about what happened to him, including the shipyard where the Baron is.

When they get to the shipyard, they start looking through the containers. Unbeknownst to them, Baron Samedi is watching them atop one of the other containers. He sets loose a bunch of his victims and Juliette and Rosalee work quickly to give them the antidote. But when the Baron releases more of the undead, they can’t keep up and are forced to run away. Nick opts to stay and fight. After a prolonged duel, the Baron shoots Nick in the face with his acidic saliva and loads him into a coffin-like box. Eric, who had just tried to convince Renard to come back to the royal family, arrives to slam the coffin door shut.

‘Call Of Duty: Ghosts’ Debuts In November

Call of Duty: Ghosts, which delivers a new take on the popular Call of Duty franchise, will hit the shelves on Nov. 5 for PS3, Xbox 360, and new systems the PS4 and the Xbox One.

During the unveiling of the Xbox One in Redmond, Wash., yesterday, Activision teased the new game with in-game footage of the first-person shooter series. It was the first glimpse the public has had of the new installment.

"It's a heavily destroyed America, not quite post-apocalyptic, (and) you are the underdog now," said executive producer Mark Rubin. With Ghosts, you get an experience "you hadn't seen before in a Call of Duty game, being sort of a resistance [fighter], against superior forces and relying on basically yourself, instead of advanced technology and overall numbers. … It's a new world, a new story, new characters and a new [game] engine."

Choosing to make Call of Duty: Ghosts instead of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 was thought to be a risk by many. Avid fans of the Modern Warfare series are invested and likely interested in another sequel. But some in the gaming industry think it’s the right time for a fresh take on the franchise. "A year of new consoles and hopefully new ideas, having a Call of Duty with a new name after the colon feels right," says Stephen Totilo, editor in chief at game industry news site Kotaku.com.

The action of the game takes place sometime in the future; roughly 10 years after a world event that sees America lose its super power status. The protagonist, played by the gamer, is accompanied by his brother throughout the series. The two join the army together and fight for their country’s survival. A military dog will also be a companion to the player.

Olivia Williams talks about her new film Last Days On Mars, with Liev Schreiber at the Cannes Film Festival.

Williams gets herself up in an astronaut suit for her visit to Mars in a mission that turns into a living nightmare in the upcoming sci-fi film thriller, Last Days on Mar. For the actress, playing the role of Kim Aldrich felt just as difficult as being an actual astronaut. “I flew in from Vancouver where I was shooting for The Seventh Sun […] and got out of the snowy, rainy and muddy costume and into a space suit and ran up and down a sand dune about fifty times in a row,” she told Uinterview exclusively. “Space suits really confine you, both as an actor and a human being.”

The English film and TV actress first appeared in the adaptation of Jane Austin’s 1816 classic, Emma. She made her debut in the post-apocalyptic set in America in The Postman, which is also adapted from a novel. Williams has had other significant roles, such as playing famous First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt in the biographical drama Hyde Park on Hudson. Other films and TV series that the popular actress has played a role in include M. Night Shyamalan’s mystery thriller, The Sixth Sense and Spaced, a British sitcom. Now Williams finds herself in a team of astronauts losing their temper with one another on their final mission.

Last Days on Mars, directed by Ruairi Robinson, screened at Cannes Film Festival on Monday and is set to be released later this year.

'Star Trek' Nude Scene: Producer Admits It Was Gratuitous, Apologizes

Star Trek Into Darkness features a scene in which Dr. Carol Marcus (Alice Eve) strips down to just a bra and underwear in front of Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) for no clear narrative purpose or effect.

Since the second Star Wars installment hit theaters on May 16, fans of the franchise have been speaking out against the scene. One such irritated fan was Marry Sue’s Jill Pantozzi.

“Eve’s character of Dr. Carol Marcus was touted to have incredible intelligence, though instead of allowing her to use it to effect the plot, she was used as the most blatant eye-candy I’ve seen in a long time,” Pantozzi wrote. “We see this kind of thing a lot in Hollywood, sure, but the scene in question was akin to an actor holding up and verbally speaking the name of a can of Coca-Cola during a scene about cats or general surgery.”

Damon Lindelof, the producer of Star Trek Into Darkness, took to Twitter to address the scene that many found to be blantantly sexist. “I copped to the fact that we should have done a better job of not being gratuitous in our representation of a barely clothed actress,” Lindelof wrote, adding, “We also had Kirk shirtless in underpants in both movies. Do not want to make light of something that some construe as mysogenistic [sic].

“What I’m saying is I hear you, I take responsibility and will be more mindful in the future."

It also probably didn’t help the scene’s reception that Eve’s character was virtually the only female character who had speaking lines in Star Trek Into Darkness.
