Date: 3rd October 2009 (Saturday)

Time: 10:00 a.m. SHARP

Venue: Eng 1.401 (401.401) Auckland University

** To all candidates, please be there 15 minutes before the start time to finalise your nominations. Do take note also that in order to vote, you need to be a verified UMSA member, so please bring your UMSA membership card. Nominators are also required to attend the AGM in order for the nominations to be VALID.

The following are the rules and regulations for nominations and voting:

1. You must attend the AGM to vote or to be elected.
2. You must be an UMSA member to vote or to be elected.
3. Each nominee must have a nominator and a seconder.
4. You can nominate yourself but must have a seconder.
5. An UMSA member can only be a nominator twice but can be a seconder for unlimited times.
6. The nominator have to be present at the AGM in order for the nomination(s) to be valid.
7. The nominee has to sign at the bottom right of the form as an acceptance of the nomination.
8. Each nominee can only run for two different positions.
9. In the case where a candidate wins both positions run for, the person can only occupy one role and must decide instantly.
10. The tenure of the role is until the next AGM.

This will be a golden opportunity for u to expand your social circle while improving your organisational and leadership skills. Besides that, the satisfaction u can get from watching your planned activities materialise is just priceless!! Not to mention that it will look good on your curriculum vitae…..

There will be a fun and relaxing gathering held next Friday so you guys are invited to come and get to know the current UMSA committees. It is here once again… Bring your partners or friends and waltz down the red carpet to our grand ball this year! Dance all you can into the twilight while enjoying the delicious variety of cuisines. Theme this year’s “Dance Into the Twilight”. What’s more, lucrative prizes are also up for grabs! That is if you are the lucky one!!

Besides that, Air Asia is also so kind for sponsoring UMSA Grand Ball 2009. Hence, to thank Air Asia, there will be a Youtube video competition!! The winner of this competition gets to receive a return Premium Economy ticket from Melbourne to London via Kuala Lumpur!! And YES, it is to LONDON!! So, grab hold of this golden oppurtunity and join the competition… All you have to do is create a video on ‘How and Why I should fly Air Asia X between Malaysia and New Zealand?’. Next, submit the video onto Youtube by 12 midnight on the 28th of August 2009. Two most creative videos will be chosen and played during the night of the ball and the one with the loudest cheer will win the prize! The following are the rules and regulations for the competition:

1.  One Ball ticket per entry.
2.  The duration of the video should not exceed 5 minutes.
3.  Entries must be submitted to youtube.com by 12 midnight of 28th August 2009.
4.  Late entries will not be entertained.
5.  The top 2 videos will be selected and played during the ball. The one with the loudest cheer wins.
6.  Judges’ decisions are final.

People! Grab your golf clubs! It’s mini golf time…. Wanna be the next Tiger Woods or Michelle Wie? If so, it’s good news to you! UMSA’s organising a mini golf event this Saturday at Onehunga. For those who never played before like me, no worries! Just hop by and it’ll be a fun experience! Details are as follows :

The Brighter Future Musical is a project organised by the Performing Arts Workshop (PAW), which aims to help increase awareness on environmental issues while raising funds for the Brighter Future Education Trust. The Brighter Future Education Trust is a conservation related trust.

Once again, in its second year running, PAW will be presenting a new musical stage show, with script written from scratch about life in 50 years from now when the climate changes drastically and food supplies in an alarming crisis all over the world. The musical will involve a wide range of performances including dances, singing, magic, live band performance, acting as well as some martial arts sequences.

Main sponsors and participating groups include The Auckland City Council Creative Community scheme, the Brighter Future Education Trust, Asia Pacific Radio Station and last but not least, Fo Guang Shan North Island New Zealand.
