Remy Ma got bars! She always has. Being the hip-hop head that I am, as well as disappointed consumer in a market that consistentlly has few hip hop female spitters, let alone talented female mc's in the game, Rema Ma has always been a fresh sound of wonderful bars and I hope she does not dissappoint. She's out of prison after a nearly 7 year hiatus, she's obviously been in the lab, and now her mixtape, I'm Around, is here. I got her in the lab is I type. Listen and let me know the verdict.

Stew of BirdCrew Releases "I Do This" Featuring Mike Fresh

Stew, AKA StewPendous, of BirdCrew released a video for his new single "I Do This" featuring his young cousin Mike Fresh who is 9 years old. They go in on this one. The Track is written and produced by Stew. Look forward to hearing him perform in the upcoming months throughout Northeast Ohio and the mid-west.

I keep playing this song over and over. The neighbor's probably know it by now. It's got a catchy hook and some strong punchlines. My favorite is: I really do this..I don't do this for fun n games... I'd still be ahead of these ni$$as if I was to run in place.. I'm to the money.. I cut to the chase.. I'm what it is I'm what you ain't. Okay, now that I have that out of my system, I'm going to get back to listening.

Now Making Noise in the Mid-West - SEMI - Get To Know Him

Semi is an underground hip-hop artist from the east side of Cleveland, OH who is graciously making noise in the underground music scene with his captivating voice and southern banger hip-hop style. Semi's deep voice along with his in your face lyrical content commands listener's attention from his first words. After listening to a few bars, Semi draws you in further with his effortless punch lines and his ability to go from club banger joints to amazingly sincere annotations of his life experiences that are relatable to the point of making you want to replay his tracks over and over again.

"Where The Love At," a track featuring Semi's verbal flows sprinkled over "I'm on One" by Drake is particularly conducive to listener abuse as well as "Faces RockStar Therapy Featuring RockStar Jda." In other words, prepare yourself to rewind and replay these bangers on several occasions. Of course, there are more, but you will just have to listen and choose your own favorites.

Semi recently laced a soon to be released track with MS. K.O. titled "Never Knew Love" set to be released in late fall of 2012. Semi adds quite a bit of fire to this track about an explicit love affair where evidently, the female adversary reflects on a long-term relationship that is definitely not based on love. Semi also recently released a video for his track "Illegal," which was produced by White Collar Records, a music label formed in 2011 by CEO Marcel "MG" Greenwood.

A Documentary For Hip Hop Lovers

Any hop-hip lover ought to enjoy this documentary made in 1997 featuring Too Short, B-Real, Da Brat, Dr. Dre, KRS One, Sean Combs, MC Eiht, Heavy D, Method Man, and many more. Ryhme and Reason was produced by Kurtis Blow and presents a study of hip hop provided in the form of interviews and performances of what hip-hop is and forecasts what the future holds for hip-hop.

As a lover of hip-hop from day one, I personally remember everyone (old fogies anyway) screaming at the top of their lungs that hip-hop wouldn’t last and still hear many naysayers boast about how hip-hop is not music. Unfortunately, no one has the power to dictate what music is; they can only simply state what their musical preferences are and nothing more. Anyone who attempts to do otherwise is simply mistaken. I could have chosen several other words besides “mistaken,” but for lack of the desire to debate with those that are “mistaken,” I will stick to that word. At least for now.
