We're into the second season of our partnership with the United Soccer Leagues, and we have shared in some incredible moments over that time.  I can't tell you how excited we are to be working with the VSI Tampa FC to grow the game in our hometown market of Tampa, Florida. 

We had a chance to speak with the incredible team at VSI Tampa FC recently, and here's what they had to say:

UNATION – We're glad to see pro soccer returning to the Tampa area, can you speak about what it's taken to get to the point where you are at now, and what you may have learned along the road?

VSI Tampa FC - To get this far, it's taken a lot of time and energy. Like any start up organization a lot of sweat is poured in at first with little result, but we will grow because of the help we are already receiving from the community. Help from so many individuals in little and big ways are bringing it all together. 

UNATION - It sounds like the Tampa Bay community has been supportive, is that a fair acessment? 

VSI Tampa FC - The rewards for the team's help (and by team I mean everyone in the area from Fastsigns on Fowler to you guys at UNATION to the little soccer players in Plant City who keep frogs from creeping into our marketing tent [I may or may not be deathly afraid]) are seen on and off the pitch. The rewards are in the family atmosphere that's growing at VSI, the rewards are in the wins the guys secure and the rewards are in the excitement of the faces of our youth club players. To get this far it's taken a lot of generous, passionate soccer people, and with the people we are surrounded by we will get where we are headed.

UNATION - We're certainly glad to have you guys in the Tampa area, and we've experienced that same outpouring of support from the community that you descirbe. Can you talk a little bit about the goals of the club? 

VSI Tampa FC - The overall goal for the team is to build a loyal fan base that can connect with the wonderful, talented group of guys we have at VSI Tampa Bay FC. A fan base our guys can be proud to step on the field and really play for and in turn the community can look proudly on our guys as "their" team. Our short-term marketing goals are simply to raise the areas' awareness that there is a professional soccer team here; that there is a group of talented 'futbol' players trying to develop a better brand of soccer for both themselves and the Tampa Bay area.  

UNATION - We love that, and we have seen the hard work that has been put into the team firsthand.  There is definitly something going on with these "futbol" players that the community can stand behind! We're in drastically different fields, but your overall goal of building a fanbase around a quality product resonates with our UNATION goals so much. Why did you choose to work with UNATION over the other social media options available? 

VSI Tampa FC - After sitting down with two of the UNATION team members it was easy to see how wonderful UNATION would be in helping VSI Tampa Bay FC's growth. As a new franchise full of passionate, hard-working individuals it was an easy choice for VSI Tampa Bay FC to choose to connect with another organization full of passionate, hard-working people. UNATION has a great reputation in our league and the user-friendly platform that UNATION provides is another fantastic way in which VSI Tampa Bay FC can connect with our friends and family members.

There is no doubt that the Tampa area is flooded with Florida State fans, and for good reason!

The legendary Bobby Bowden, who coached the football team for 34 years, and amassed an impressive streak of 28 consecutive bowl game appearances, retired in 2010. Bowden's exit put all eyes on FSU Athletics, and Jimbo Fisher. Fisher, a long time quarterback coach and offensive coordinator, had been Bowden's right-hand man since joining the coaching staff in 2007.

You have to understand that Jimbo Fisher faced a great deal of pressure in his first year as a Head Coach, and he proved himself worthy of the position very quickly! In his first year the team had their first 10-win season since 2003, and their first ACC Championship Game since 2005. Headed into his 3rd season as the Head Coach the Noles are riding an impressive 19-8 record. Amidst a city flooded with Florida State Alumni, Jimbo Fisher has garnered a great amount of respect in the Tampa Bay area.

It comes as no surprise that the Seminole Boosters, INC and the Tampa Bay Seminole Club have teamed up to bring "NOLES NIGHT AT THE COVE" to the heart of our community!

On May 3rd through the 6th, 61 teams consisting of children, ages 9-16 will be assembling and programming their very own robotic LEGO® creations to compete in the FIRST® LEGO® League Tournament, being held in Lakeland, FL, and seen on FLLnation.com.

The Florida Robotics Education, Inc, a not-for-profit organization, started the FIRST LEGO League as a way of cultivating an interest in science and technology for children around the world, teaching them valuable life skills in a fun environment.

A yearly tournament is organized to bring all the teams together to compete for a host of awards and titles, while sticking within the guidelines of the tournaments selected challenge. This year, the FIRST LEGO League challenge will be "Food Factor". Competitors will program an autonomous robot (using the LEGO® MINDSTORMS® robot set) to score points on a playing surface that requires them to do food related tasks, such as harvesting vegetables or keeping meats away from germ exposure. Innovative solutions to problems will be a large part of the research project.

UNATION will be uploading clips of the tournament and team points over the course of the weekend on FLLNATION.com and Live Streaming the Awards Ceremony at LEGOLAND Florida, Sunday, May 6th at 9:15 AM. Tonight will be the opening ceremony at the Mirror Lake Amphitheater in Lakeland, FL with the actual tournament taking place at the All Saints Academy. Please note: Not all events in the tournament will be recorded and available to view On-Demand.

On behalf of the entire UNATION staff, we would like to recognize and congratulate the Training and Education Group here at UNATION for receiving two unique awards for their recent work.

Sam Felice and Luis Gill received an Award of Merit from the Society of Technical Communications for their user training project Coming Soon to UNATION.com Help Center. The STC recognized the project for its high level of professionalism in the area of user training and assistance and it stood out against such competitors as Coca-Cola, IBM, HP, Dept. of Energy, etc.

Along with being nominated to compete in the STC competition for an additional project he developed during the same time frame, eLearning professional Michael Harrold was recently notified that his user training project, Quick Help for Exclusive Preview of UNATION.com was selected by Gabe Anderson, Director of Customer Advocacy for the Articulate Word of Mouth blog. Michael is to be a featured professional in this blog including a personal interview, step-by-step details on his processes and ideas, and his views on user training and eLearning design and applying these here at UNATION.

As a result of the STC Award of Merit, all four Training and Education Group members have been invited to attend the Summit Awards Ceremony that takes place in Arlington, VA, on March 1, 2012, and present their project and ideas to the over 60 company nominations attending.

The Society for Technical Communication is a professional association dedicated to the advancement of technical communication, it holds the Summit Awards on an annual basis and they reach over 7,000 members in almost 50 countries.

Fifth World Art Founder, Robert Neff

If an idea can be transferred in a tick, and a movement can be sparked with a mere click of the mouse, what does this mean for art? Art has always been a connective force between us, but even in an age where a world of information is accessible more or less instantaneously, connecting with art on a personal level requires some real time and thought.

Social media has opened our eyes to a whole new world, and one aspect of our lives that has been indelibly effected is the way we interact with media and each other. For the art lovers amongst us, the social media scene has proved to be an inspiring leap into an unlimited world of photography, video and digital media. If only we could merge that instantaneous online experience of art with the organic power of experiencing it in our everyday lives.
