Learning HDR

I’ve toyed with HDR before but it seems like everyone now is heavy into it, so I’m re-learning how to HDR process again. It’s fun. This was a crappy picture taken a few years ago, processed through single shot HDR in Photomatix. Not bad but I really need to learn how to tone it down.

Here’s one that I think I was successful:

Felt bad for this wedding entourage … the day was just muggy and misty, so the skyline was not so clear. I hope they got good photos really.

Food Photography

I no longer cannot begin to eat without taking pictures of my food. A colleague invited us yesterday for dinner at a Sichuan restaurant in Chinatown. The food was terrific. Her boyfriend took a picture with his phone cam of me taking a picture of the food then promptly sent it to me. Technology is incredible.

A visit to Bandol and Sanary-sur-Mer

Bandol and Sanary are towns in the south of France about 50 miles east of Marseilles on the coast of Provence. Here are a few pictures that a friend took while vacationing in this area two weeks ago. Bandol and Sanary are the two towns where German refugee intellectuals lived while waiting to be taken across the Pyrennes to escape the Nazis.
