Making milk soap was the one thing that I could not master on my own. I read this book and a huge LIGHT BULB lit up and made everything clear. I did make some mediocre goats milk soap several times but I was not proud of it. Later I tried buttermilk and it was a catastrophe! The buttermilk curdled within one minute and it stunk to high heaven. Tonight I made a gorgeous buttermilk chocolate soap using Anne's directions and it was creamy, white and perfect! I posted a picture of it. Thank you Anne!!

Once again, Anne Watson creates a wonderful, straight forward approach to what has long been considered a complicated method. This book is the MUST have for anyone wanting to make milk soaps and is light years beyond Casey Makela's book on the same subject. I recommend this book for two major reasons:1) Watson discusses both liquid milk (what she calls the "cool technique") and powdered milk (the "warm technique") and offers excellent recipes and directions for both. Her method is very relaxed and while it is admittedly a hair more complex than regular CP soap, it's not nearly as complicated as some other books make it sound.2) Watson dispels the myths of milk soapmaking. This is HUGE. She goes through all of the myths about using milk from what type of milk you need to who can do it.Also, Watson is accessible through her website. I sent her a question not long ago and she responded to me within two days! How's that for asking the author? :)

Being new to soap making I purchased three (3) books, Milk Soapmaking by Anne L. Watson, Soap Crafting By Anne-Marie Faiola, The Soap Queen and Basic Soap Making edited by Letcavage. I have reviewed the three and find that each of them has good information to offer. If you are looking for an easy to follow soap making book that is great for a beginner like myself I would recommend both Basic Soap Making â€“Letcavage and Soap Crafting by The Soap Queen as they have easy to follow instructions as well as pictures to follow along. The Basic Soap making book offers more explanation on types of oils and smells to showing you some common items that can be used to make soap. The Soap Crafting book provides easy to follow recipes as well as easy to follow instruction and explanations. I love not only the MANY recipes in this book but also the explanation on techniques used to get different designs in soap. In my opinion, these books complement each other very well or could be purchased separately. The Milk Soapmaking book is perfect for milk soap recipes as well as explanations; it is a straight read only book so if youâ€™re looking for a picture explanation you will not get it. She does an excellent job of describing what texture you should look for however, if you like an example this book may be best as an accompaniment to one or both of the other books and not as a sole source.

I started making soap with Anne's Smart Soapmaking. After becoming comfortable with the basic process of soapmaking, I decided I wanted to expand my horizons and learn about milk soaps. This book does not disappoint. It's written in the same easy to follow manner as her first book...non-intimidating, very clear, very simple.Since I've started soapmaking, I've purchased books from other authors and I must say that if I would have started with those books, I probably would not have made a batch of soap at all, as a few that I have just don't seem to have the easy to follow instructions like this book has.Just a note, you don't have to start with Smart Soapmaking. This book is geared toward the beginner just as the other book is. So if you've never made soap before and you're more interested in milk soaps, then this book will have you making beautiful milk soaps in no time at all.

I have really enjoyed this book. I never made soap before so when I had a surplus of goats milk I thought I would give it a try. My first batch turned out great until I tried to get it out of the mold. Guess I forgot to read the part on getting the soap out of the mold! She has very basic recipes you can almost make with what you have at home. There is also more expensive recipes. I am buying the ingredients for them a little at a time so I have not tried them yet.

I now use Anne's freezer method of preparing a yogurt/water mixture for soap making, and it is genius! It is perfect for mixing the yogurt/water with the lye and really shortens the time for the whole process.Anne has done lots of experimentation and record-keeping on many, many batches of milk-based soap which has allowed her to de-mystify and simplify the process, by eliminating unnecessary steps that other books swear by and tell you that you must do.In spite of Anne's caution against using the technique and the yogurt for other recipes, I do, and I have had success every time. I put yogurt in all of my recipes now using Anne's freezer method, and it produces wonderful soap, every time.My only problem with the book is that Anne lays out both the warm method and the cold method side-by-side over the course of several pages. I would rather have had them laid out separately so that each one takes up only a few pages, by itself (less page turning while working). I see no benefit to having them side-by-side, since you would never make them both at the same time, and who really cares how they compare with one another. The side-by-side layout is rather confusing, I think, and makes each process harder to follow than if each was simply laid out by itself.But the yogurt-parfait soap is perfection! If you are interested in trying to make milk, lye-based soap, you absolutely have to try that recipe! I would spray my mold with cooking spray, however, and put the mold into the freezer for 15 minutes before I unmold, and maybe even leave it in the mold for 48 hours. Milk-based soaps can be pretty soft to unmold.

This is possibly the most bizarre topic for a non-fiction book that I've read, and I loved it.Robert Webster, a Funeral Director in middle America, has seen it all, from arranging funeral services for a man who wanted to be buried in his truck to two men who who bartered the cost of a funeral service for a pickup truck and conversion van. He's also a good story teller and the book was very readable.This book is organized by theme, under which Webster shares stories of his long career and he has many stories from when he was working for others, as well as once he opened his own funeral home in 2001. You don't think about laughing when it comes to funerals-and this isn't even macabre humor in the face of death, it's truly giggle worthy moments that accompany the predicted sad stories that surround death.This covers a lot of things that I'd venture most people don't think about when planning a service for a loved one, but he also touched on some of the news of the last two decades, including the scandals around funeral homes and their practices and looked at them in a fair light. As a family business, he had the expected look at "carpet bagging", when corporations, but I wouldn't say it was an unfair portrayal.This book was written in 2006 so the pricing info seems shockingly low, even for middle America.

I've been interested in reading a book on this type of business for a while, and when I saw this one on a daily deal, I couldn't resist. By the title I expected the book to be approximately 50% hilarious anecdotes and the other half about answering common questions about the industry.I was wrong.It was mostly mediocre anecdotes about his experience in the industry of being a funeral director. Some parts were interesting, but some were very boring -- like him describing his advertising techniques for his business or breaking down how much caskets cost.I realize now that I should have selected a title less based on it's price and more on its reviews.

I purchased this book with some caution as I was not sure I would like it, but I was intrigued by the premise. I was pleasantly surprised to find it was written in a kind, compassionate manner and yet very factually. Mr. Webster is open and honest in his recounting of his career and of the business he has chosen. He writes as he speaks, I would imagine, and it doesn't come across as written by a professional writer, but Mr. Webster does a great job of bringing together information in an organized way. I learned a lot about an industry/profession that I knew little about before reading this. I wish I had read this book before my mother passed away as I could've used some of the information in here. I highly recommend this book to anyone.

I was drawn to this book for two reasons. 1) I am currently going through Mortuary School 2) the title is hilarious. But I fell in love with the author for a few different reasons.Although the title is priceless, the author has a lot of respect for his profession and the respect just leaks out of the pages with the amount of passion he displays with every sentence. And he doesn't have to go into the graphic things that morticians have to do when prepping a body to keep the reader interested.He changes the way many people imagine a mortician. Instead of being some weird basement dwelling necrophiliac that has problems interacting with the living, people now view morticians as people who truly care about your loved one as well as you. He is helping with changing the idea that movies have placed in our minds about death and morticians.Robert Webster and his book helped with confirming why it is that I want to go into this field. And he helps with allowing the reader to understand that this isn't a weird or taboo thing to get involved in, we will all be naked with a sheet draped over our body waiting to meet a mortician because let's face it, death is the ultimate goal in life.

Robert Webster, the author of this book, is a Funeral Home Director/Owner. He grew up in and around the funeral home business. His father was in the business and so was his brother. He has owned his own funeral home since 2001. I say all of this because it shows that he is an authority on the topic of the funeral business.Overall I enjoyed the book. It is layered with numerous anecdotes, and depending on your disposition, they are very informative. Also, many of these stories present themselves as quite humorous, if your sense of humor leans a little dark.Mr. Webster gives a very real account of the funeral home business, from his perspective. He delves into many aspects of the industry:1) Dealing with the family of the deceased.2) Transportation of the deceased.3) Embalming4) Caskets and Urns5) Cremation6) The evolution of the funeral home industry during the past 40 years.7) He talks a little bit about the history of the industry (I really enjoyed these parts)8) What the massive corporate take over of the business means for you.9) Things that you should consider before your time comes, or when planning a funeral for a loved one.I am sure I am forgetting some things here. Mr. Webster layers each one of these points with his anecdotes. I would say the break down of the book is about 70-30, anecdotes-factual/historical material.If you are looking for an entertaining read about the funeral home industry, this book is for you. If you are looking for a book that gives you some valuable information and insights about the funeral home industry this book is for you. However, if you are looking a history book about the industry or a step-by-step guide on what to do if a relative passes away (or you want to make arrangements for yourself) this book is kind of for you, but not completely â˜ºPersonally, I wish the book had some kind of â€œadditional readingâ€ section. I realize the book was meant to be a personal perspective, but the author seems knowledgeable enough where I am sure he could have talked about additional materials relating to the funeral home industry.I am giving it 4 stars because I really liked it. Wish it would have had a little more historical information and some recommendations for further reading for that 5th star.

I had this book for a comparative mythology course. It was one of the three assigned books and i can't think how else would have that worked. This book is more like an encyclopedia containing only brief information about various world mythologies. It contains abridged versions of mythological stories and its characters. In my opinion, this book cannot work as stand alone for an analytical study of world mythologies. However, it is a good reference book. I like how each mythology is explained with maps, timelines, and pictures.

First, its strong points:The prose was intelligent, the rich images of ancient artwork on every page added a great deal of context to the myths, and coverage of the subject matter was very comprehensive as a whole. I was impressed with the quality of the book itself. The pages were thick, high quality paper (almost like card-stock) and the full color images were beautiful. It was a pleasure to hold and read.Second, its weak points:In the sections on several cultures, the stories were summarized so much that at times I had trouble following them. In the myths I as familiar with from previous study, I realized part of the problem was that key details were skipped over in the telling that would have made future details (which were included) have made more sense. While the slangy tone of Mythology for Dummies was aggravating, it did a better job than this book of telling the individual stories it covered. That having been said-- this book covered much more ground than Mythology for Dummies, which was concerned largely with Greek Mythology (it dedicated half its pages to this culture alone). This book covered the mythology from many more world regions, which is doubtless why the author gave fewer details.

Bought this book for a class. It was interesting to read about all the different mythologies in the world and how they were similar and different.

EXACTLY AS ADVERTISED. this book gives great stories for many different eras and explains why they are important to literature and tells you that most myths have similar concepts to their stories.

Never thought I would be buying it, especially reading it! But I loved it! Totally worth it!

Exactly the book I needed for school!

I had to purchase this book for a class at school. It is a dry read with very fine print. I'm sure there are more captivating mythology books out there. It is very slow going getting through this text.

This is a college level text book with good illustrations and broad coverage. I like the organization by theme and geographic regions, and appreciate the attempt to draw parallels when appropriate.

These two actors do a great job of narrating this story. Kathryn L. Scott is part of the original Dark Shadows cast. Alec Newman is the Sandman -is he real or just in Maggie's mind? I was very impressed by the superb acting. I am eager to see more cd's!

I'm a Dark Shadows fan, and a commuting audiobook addict. So naturally, I love the Dark Shadows audio stories on CD. This is the third one I have bought. Great acting and sound effects! I only wish the stories weren't so brief. I recommend these to all Dark Shadows fans.

Wow! I actually read this engaging, honest and illuminating memoir in one sitting. The brutal honesty and objectivity that Ms Field displays in openly discovering and relating her life-long battle with self-esteem and why she's the person that she is is refreshing and helped me to see some of the same traps I've also fallen into in my own life. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has come from a family that hides it's secrets or where abuse was present. I really admire Ms Field's life-long struggle to become the person she always knew was in there somewhere.

Never can imagine what people have gone through until you hear their story. I had a horrible childhood,five sister's that got through it too,without them I don't think I could have made it out sane,maybe I haven't! This book opened my eyes to lots of angels to see life's problems,I guess we all have crosses to bare. I want to thank Sally for writing this,so talented but not without problems herself,love her!

I have been to Tonga and am familiar with the country. This guide was the most comprehensive and complete current information on the country. I very much appreciate the direct practical information for what to see, hidden gems, activities and places to stay and eat. I loved the description of the culture and history as well as how to best interact and understand the people of Tonga. The blogs and stories of the peace corps experiences were fun to read and gave a great flavor for the country and personal touch to the land. The author is actually Kate Asleson as the primary contributor so please list her as the author. I would highly recommend this book and would place it at the forefront for products with Tongan travel. Other books are no where near the depth and expertise of this book. It would be the best tool possible for anyone traveling to Tonga. The descriptions on each island group gave great suggestions on what to see and do and really wets your appetite to go back and experience what I have missed on my first trip. I believe these are islands that are incredibly beautiful, have some of the best reefs and sealife to experience equal to the Great Barrier Reef and the travel remains pure and not commercialized, a rare thing to find these days. GO TONGA!

Most consolidated information I have found on Tonga anywhere! The authors did a good job starting me on my research of the fascinating island country. Can't wait to visit next year!!!

Not too good - Lonely Planet - Raro, Samoa, and Tonga much better.

The table of contents in the e-book had no page numbers for each chapter.. It was not easy to use. I had to go through the whole book to find a specific island group. The same information was repeated in different chapters in the book.

An easy and enticing read. Filled with great information and advice for travel along with customs to follow or be aware of or simply fun facts.Loved the recommendations and photos in the book. An interesting novel of the country filled with a personal touch that made it a great read even if your not traveling to Tonga (but it will make you want to!)I would defintaley recommend it to ALL who plan on venturing to Tonga now or in the future, or those who like to understand our world just a little better, or anyone planning on moving to another country/joining the peace corps.

First I want to say that I really loved this book.I started working on this book in August 2016, it is now January 2017. It covers a vast amount of information. I wanted to make sure that I covered everything completely, I will now start re- read it again. The book is highlighted, underlined, notes written all over the book. This is more a text book, than a simple herb book. I highly recommend this if you are serious about being am herbalist.This is one book I will use over and over. Love it.

All I can say is this author speaks to me. I am not what most people would think of as the type to get "into" herbal healing (leave it at that). I have been working and healing with herbs for about a year or so and consider it a calling ("hobby" to those who ask). There are some great books out there and one should always have a few on hand to reference. However, similar to Rosemary Gladstar, this author speaks to the inner healer - the person who is magically drawn to plants and their divine healing properties, but may not know why. He inspires a person to want to understand the magic AND the science. If you want a "list" of herbs and their medicinal properties, this isn't it, it is SO much more. I am not into worshiping Gaia or dancing under the moonlight to celebrate life's offerings, but he is and that's just fine with me. It will be fine too with anyone who chooses to include this wonderful book in their herbal reference library.

First, do not mistake this as an Herbal or a formulary of herbal recipes because while this book may list some information about some herbs and their uses it does not get specific into the herbs themselves. This book, however, does cover an extensive course on the basics of general herbal medicine making and an in depth course on the consideration and instruction for specific methods of herbal therapies and applications.I personally like this book because I specialize in herbal liquid extracts and infusions, mainly tinctures, glycerites, and oils. This book extensively covers these forms of herbal therapy and application in great detail, not just on the basic components of making a tincture or other form of herbal medicine but it discusses the scientific and biological processes behind them. I especially like that he discusses tincturing by maceration and by percolation and furthermore includes a whole independent section on Solvents as well; as they can be tricky to choose from and formulate when making your own formulas and figuring out each herbs solubility factors and weigh which solvents should be used and in what quantity and ratio. In conclusion this book is another must have for any truly dedicated naturopathic medicinal herbalist and includes more valuable information one could hope for and expect especially in comparison to the books price.

i love this book. Just glancing through it i have already found help i needed for a tincture..I bought my friend one and she loves it. I am not real educated on the ratios etc of herbs and she is, but we both found things in the book to help. It covers tinctures, ratios, herbs, and also has recipes. You want be disappointed in this book no matter how far along you are in making your own tinctures.

Main character Jamel is on the last leg of his 7 year bid at Fort Dix Correctional Facility. He has two women and children waiting for him back home. He has his two women that held it down for him at home to tend to, not to mention a relationship to form with his kids.What readers won't like about the book is that the actions that take place between the pages are not what are expressed in the synopsis. It is somewhat of a false advertisement. I have come to find out that there is a sequel; however, there is no indication of that on the cover or at the conclusion of the book. This will obviously cause readers to think it is a standalone book. Even with there being a sequel I found the story as it was to be underdeveloped. It lacked the action and intensity that I have come to expect from a Relentless book. The plot did not have enough going on. The marketing is what is going to cause Derelict to become somewhat of an annoyance to those who purchase it.Kaye's character was underdeveloped. For her to be so easily intrigued by Jamel I feel there was something else in her background that should have come out to explain why she was such a pushover. I mean we are talking about a professional woman, never married, who is of a respectable age. I did not understand how she was so gullible. At the end of the story I found it to be lacking purpose. We don't know exactly what Jamel's intentions are now that he is out of prison. We know he dreams of opening a dinner club, and that Mack - the guy who is behind him being in jail is a successful rapper. Still, I was not left with that "fired up" feeling that usually has me book-store hopping to find out what happens next.I will not let this deter my "Relentless Reading" because I have been pleased with the MANY other books I have read by this author. Dr. Kay, the prison psychologist, begins to take a greater interest in Jamal as she continues learning more about him. Soon, instead of Jamal seeking Dr. Kay out for comfort, she is looking to him for comfort and willing to take their doctor-patient relationship to another level.When Jamal is not spending time with Dr. Kay, he is dreaming up plans for a better life once he gets out. This includes returning to the mothers of his two children, JoJo and Deadra, and making a home for all of them. Not only that, he has also drawn plans for a new club he hopes to open in order to leave the illegal lifestyle behind. The only problem is that there is someone close to him who isn't ready to move on with life. Instead, he has spent seven years dreaming of revenge.While I liked that co-authors 50 Cent and Relentless Aaron use federal prison as the backdrop for DERELICT, the rest of the novel falls short. In my opinion, this novel does not do what it sets out to as listed in the synopsis. I expected to read a novel about life after jail, but the novel takes place while Jamal is still inside the prison walls. Also, this novel is not fast-paced and did not keep my interest. There were times when it seemed that parts of the novel were out of place. Jamal's character was developed; however, many of the other characters, including Dr. Kay, were not. In the end I was left wondering what motivated her actions. Lastly, the end of the novel brought no closure. DERELICT by Relentless Aaron is a disappointment.I've read other books by Relentless Aaron and they had direction in the storyline. Sad, but this book here leaves the reader clueless.While reading the story, I was in anticipation of the author to get to the point - but there was none. Sorry, Relentless, this story fell flat.I don't give up hope (based on reading your other novels), I trust you'll publish something else for my interest. Afterall, authors don't "always" knock the ball out of the park. Heads up & good luck on your next book. I'll be waiting to read it.

I'm so mad at myself for buying this book. I had actually read the reviews on it prior to getting it but I saw this book and the other 2 in stores and grabbed them all. 50, how could you put your name on such garbage? All of the other authors were on point but I was sooooo lost with this book. I tried to finish it but I just gave up. At one point I was thinking Jamel was out but he's still in telling the story! Maybe one day I'll finish it. Too bad I can't give it a -5....This was my first book by this author and I definitely will not be reading anymore....

This is not a very helpful book for the person who has just had an animal die. The author writes things like, "Would you want your animal to live forever?" Most of us would say yes! He also supports the use of punishment and gives those owners a pass. No reason to feel guilty for using punishment when your animal was alive. Actually he writes that punishment is necessary to have a well behaved pet. This author has very limited personal experience with the death of a pet and even less understanding of animal behavior and training. If you decide to take the author's on-line counselor training program be aware, you have to read this book cover to cover, and while his expectation is perfection from his students, he will send out homework assignments with typo's and misspelled words. He is not interested in his students being successful. You can receive A's on homework assignments and still easily fail the final exam and class. He does not give clear expectations and tries to guilt students into getting homework assignments completed prior to due date and time. I hope he is a better psychiatrist than a teacher. As a teacher and writer he fails miserably.

I just started the book and it's helpful already. Easy read. The cover feels like velvet.Update: I joined the authors chat room for pet loss and bereavement which is on Fridays. My experience with him was not what I would expect in a grief support group. I didn't feel compassion from him at all. Where I was that day in my grief was dismissed as too negative for the group. Grief in my past experience is not linear. I would recommend joining his chat room on Friday, 8-10PM before investing in buying and reading his book.

I am not sure it was the right book for me; too many extremities as examples in my opinion. FOR example, the concentration in large part on religion, as well being suggestive that most of us might need therapy because we are suffering pain or suicidal thoughts at the loss of our beloved pets and don't quite know how to cope without professional help. Definitely written by a therapist that much too often suggested our pain might come from some underlying issue in our childhoods, abuse, or some such issue.I bought this book at the suggestion of a good friend who was trying to ease my pain. I just wanted some comfort and reassurance, but I didn't really get it until near the end. As an otherwise stable person who did not need so much analysis as to the fact my feelings were normal, I found myself wishing it would focus more on a regular everyday person's emotion, as in how to deal with their loss effectively and without so much psychobabble.That said, there was comfort to be found, and I did find the author's empathy for all living beings a saving grace in what might seem an otherwise detached writing style. A lot of how to deal with my (so far) two day grief of having to euthanize my 8yr old dog was common sense, I already knew it; I've been there before, but what I did appreciate was the chapter on euthanasia. My puppy was already dying, so I had no choice, but it did help me come to terms with the process and some doubts I may have had about keeping him around too long after the initial signs - when I thought there was still hope as he was young and is it came from nowhere very suddenly and rapidly.Also, most unexpectedly, because I still feel the need to care for a pet means I will probably will get another one soon, and so, after reading a chapter about that, I no longer feel the guilt I did this morning when looking through adoption sites. Not to replace my puppy, by ANY means; I never could, or would; I already planned to get another when he was older, as the book also suggests eases the pain when the older one finally dies, but I didn't get that opportunity. The fact, that it is, apparently, healthy for some people who know why they need a wee one in their life, like I do, to think about bringing in another one so soon was most unexpected and did indeed appease the guilt I was feeling about just that. It is exactly what I did when my last dog died, bringing him in at nine weeks old, almost immediately, and I now no longer feel any guilt about doing that then either.Also, I did like the sentiment about afterlife of otherwise loyal and loving beings; that appealed to me greatly.Overall, I don't know if taking a day off work and reading a bookâ€“any bookâ€“was simply the therapy I needed to snap out of my misery a littleâ€“if so, then reading this one at least accomplished that.

This is the BEST item I could have bought!!! Every pet owner should have this book ... and every Humane Society or rescue group should recommend it to prospective clients. It helped soooooo much ..... to help me get over my grief of losing my pet of 15 yrs and to prepare for a new pet. BEST BOOK I'VE READ IN A LONG TIME!!!!!!

I was beyond grieving for the loss of my best friend and soul mate. My Bella was the love of my life. That 1 dog in a lifetime....This book saved me. She was taken at a young age tragically, and no remains to mourn. This book covers loss in every possible scenario and comforted me like nothing else could. I highly recommend this book to everyone who has experienced excruciating sorrow and profound anguish at the loss of a dear animal companion.

I lost my soulmate in May and was in terrible grief. I found this book on Dr. Sife's website and I can't tell you how much it has helped me. I thought I would never feel a lessening of the pain but I do feel somewhat better. Dr. Sife has a grief chat room too that is available in the evenings which I highly recommend. They are trained facilitators who are incredibly sweet and understanding.

I am so thankful I found this book. My pup and the love of my life passed away unexpectedly and I was devastated. I don't know if I would have been able to make it through without finding this book. My dog was my everything and this book reassured me that my attachment and connection to her were normal and my reaction was expected. My emotions felt understood and validated. I would recommend this to anyone dealing with the loss of a pet. This book has truly been a life saver.

I am on the fence about this book. It has a lot of valuable information and interesting history on the evolution of pets in humans lives, but I am not a fan of the writing style. You can tell it was written by a Dr., and I honestly hated the redundant use of "Interestingly Enough".I felt no connection to the author as a person, only as a Doctor. I felt like I was in a psychology class half the time I was reading this, or, in a therapy session. The writing was just not very creative, like I said, too inhuman for my taste.

Very informative pocket guide !!

Three stars for a full spectrum of a Mâ™¥ï¸deira. It's always a pleasure to read a Guidebook. For the missing two stars I have to say that I needed to visit Mâ™¥ï¸deira before this book opened up to me. But that's probably something what's customed to Lonely Planet and not to blame the Author.Book helped me a lot. I recommend it to everybody who are new to Mâ™¥ï¸deira. This book will give you what you need to get started. Bon voyage!

Good guide to Madeira. We used this guide a lot for ideas of where to go. We used this and Yelp for restaurants.It's missing some stuff, like cash is king (and most places, esp. tours don't take credit cards). The red sightseeing bus is lame, with very little information about the area provided on the tour (and some is duplicated on the two lines). Both red and yellow sightseeing buses have 12 languages available! The book also didn't explain that the tours involve 16 people shoved into a small van on windy roads -- bring Dramamine.

I enjoyed the book, pictures, and maps. Each time I tried to investigate a link I could not return to where I had been in the book. Most frustrating! Good info though. The island looks charming.

Very helpful in finding a tour. Can't wait for the cable car ride

Steve Hunsicker is the South Florida recruiter for Peace Corps. Before being hired by Peace Corps, Steve was a business development volunteer in the Kingdom of Tonga. Prior to joining WPEC, he was the News Director at Freedomâ€™s WTVCâ€™s NewsChannel 9, the top rated station in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Steve began his TV career in Tallahassee, Florida and has also run TV News Departments in Gainesville, Florida, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and Honolulu, Hawaii. Steve enjoys volunteering with the United Way, SCUBA diving and talking with other people interested in Peace Corps service. I really enjoyed this well written book about a Peace Corps volunteer's experiences. I knew absolutely nothing about the Kingdom of Tonga or the Peace Corps prior to reading this book, came away with a good understanding of both and a desire to learn more. Steve kept me interested throughout the book, wanting to know what he would reveal next.This book would be great for anyone with a sense of adventure and desire to help. I bet you will be contacting a Peace Corps re recruiter!

I really enjoyed reading this book. I have been looking for books about the Peace Corps experience from volunteers who are a non traditional age. I enjoyed reading about Steve's experiences in Tonga as he moved through his days of service. Tonga looks like a beautiful country with an interesting culture.

Grest book. Very well done. Easy to read. Very humble and nice author. Written in an honest fashion. Very interesting topic. Author wrote another book about Tonga that is also very well done.

Beatrix Potter was born on July 28, 1866 at No 2, Bolton Gardens, Kensington, London. She loved nature and drawing as a child. As a young child, I much preferred playing with stuffed animals to playing house with dolls. As I grew older, I had far more dreams related to careers than motherhood. It took my husband several years to convince me that parenthood was something God might be calling us to. It wasn't until after we miscarried that I knew for sure I wanted to be a mom.Because my story stands in such stark contrast to those of people who always wanted to be a mom, I sometimes have a hard time relating to gushy mommy memoirs or blogs. For this reason, I was intrigued by Lisa-Jo Baker's book, Surprised by Motherhood. After all, it's back-cover copy begins with, â€œMost people who talk about motherhood start out by telling you how much they always wanted to be a mom. Not Lisa-Jo Baker.â€Upon reading this, I decided this might be a book on motherhood I could relate to.Indeed, it was.In Surprised by Motherhood, Lisa-Jo chronicles her journey into motherhood, beginning with her own mother's death when she was 18. She talks of her focus on her career and the initial agreement she made with her husband NOT to have kids.
